Metamorph

I few noob questions, i have a MT3G and yes i know this is the dream forum but i believe this one is more active than the sapphire one
I have sensehero 1.4 but i want to go to donut only because i want google navigator and bluetooth, and i was wondering about metamorph,
Can i still any rom and metamorph would work with it?
And if the answer is yes, what rom would you recommend me?
I'm still deciding between the 10 MB RAM hack or better 3D graphics, whats ur opinion?
Any help would be appreciated.

i would suggest the obvious choice: CyanogenMod. i haven't updated to the latest version yet, but it can only be an improvement. it's my go to rom when i need to be stable for several days in a row.

Noob need help with rom!!!

Hello all,
I just got my g1 and wanted to root this phone but i have several question before I begin:
1) Which ROM should I use? there are so many and I been reading that Cyanogen ROM is a good one to use but there are so many version? which is stable? the 5.07?
2) also there are so many tutorial on here that I dont really know which to use for what? can someone pls point me to a complete guide?
3) also most of the guide mention that I need to be on rc29 or lower but when i check my phone I dont see that? all i see is I'm using firmware 1.6 and build number: dmd64
4)I been seeing alot of mention as to cupcake, donut, eclair etc, which one should I use?
Sorry for the question but I'm really new at this and all the information i've been reading is just really confuse me alot more

Cyanogen's EXPERIMENTAL 5.0.7test5 rom is labeled EXPERIMENTAL for a reason. It is Eclair 2.1.
Cyanogen's STABLE version is 4.2.15.1 which is Donut with Eclair bits to it.
You really need to learn how to search and read.

2.2 Question

Hi this is probably a really stupid question but I am new and don't really know what I'm doing lol. I was wondering if there was an easy way to upgrade my sprint hero to 2.2. Google offers the official stock android but I don't know how to install it and I can't figure out the search here. Can someone lead me in the right direction? Maybe link to the right thread? Thanks for the help

One thing is for sure your going to have to root your phone before you can do anything so here's the rooting guide for 2.1:

The official source code for 2.2 doesn't just install on our phone everything has to be packaged in a rom and if its not supported by htc we have to do it ourselves so if you look around in the forums you'll find a lot of good 2.1 custom roms and darchstar built a 2.2 froyo build from the ground up. Good luck.

Just wanted to double check, newbie here but willing to learn. You have to get to your phone into a root statues, at which point your going to flash a new rom onto it with either 2.1 or 2.2?

that is correct
its not too hard once you finally get set-up
i suggest trying out a basic rom without all the bells and whistles first
then once you realize you can load a rom and you mess with it for a bit, try flashing a new kernal, try using overclock, try out a new launcher even *adw or helix.....*, then if you're still feeling good you can try jit
by then you should understand a bit more.

Hey there, It seems all my searches on rooting the sprint hero on 2.2.1 are bringing up results from 2009 and 2010. and mostly for 2.1
Is there an updated way of rooting the 2.2.1?
Also is there a sense 3.0 rom thats stable for the sprint hero?
also also lol is there a way of rooting the phone by just flashing a rooted rom like in some phones?

I did search about rooting it, in unrevoked my radio version is not supported. and other methods are for 2.1 seems all i can find. all outdated. i must be missing it.
I shouldve known you would flame, i see you flaming alot on here. not much of a helper lol i guess we all have our roles. But as i stated in my OP that i searched and found outdated stuff.

If your heroc has 2.2 its already rooted.. we root 2.1 so we can install 2.2 etc.

uggh, it is 2.1 firmware sorry lol getting caught up in my searches and what im seeing.

hello every one iam just got my S I9000 ( not plus ) i want links for tutorials about how to root my phone and get the newest baseband and i want link for the best kernel and rom ( best rom in graphics/speed/games )

First of all, there's no such thing as the best rom - it's like trying to compare apple and oranges and saying one's better than the other. I usually recommend people to start with stock-based roms (so no AOKP or cyanogen mods) simply because it's closer to the stock rom and usually to flash.
As for rooting your phone, if you are already planning to flash a new rom, there's not much point in rooting it now. All custom roms are rooted. If still want to learn to root (which might actually be a good starting point), you need to tell us what firmware you are currently on.

thats not an i9000 thats a tmobile vibrant...

Trying to flash a I9000 rom on a Vibrant will most likely brick the thing. Better to start looking in the Vibrant section instead. Good thing Paul spotted it.
