I have just got myself a ADP1 using JFv1.41-ADP1.1
I get my phone plan through work as it is free but i unable to convince work to give me a data plan of sorts.
Is there a way to access GCal offline. So sync the calendar via wifi when i am at home and be able to access the data while im out on the road?
So far i havent been able to get this to work as when i try to open calendar it asks me to sign in.
If this isnt possible is there another app that can sync with Gcal and take it offline. I have seen other calendar apps but i want to be able to sync with GCal as this is what i currently use.
Thanks
Try Gsync my syncs perfectly.
Sync Gcal to Phone
Thanks for the suggestion but that program seems to sync a mac/pc with Gcal.
I may not have clear in my original post.
I want to be able to access Gcal on my phone even when i dont have data access.
So i want something to sync my phone to gcal
Thanks
i could be wrong, since i have a data plan, but i believe you should still be able to view your calendar without data.
Asks to sign in
I was under the impression that i should be able to access the calendar aswell as it syncs the data to the phone. But whenever i try to access it offline it asks me to sign in. But obviously when i try sign in it fails due to not being online.
Anyone know how to get around this??
I have my data connection disabled, with no WiFi and still can access calender. I only sync calender via WiFi when I'm at office or home. I've been doing this for the past months with no login screen. I think there should be some other problem with your calendar.
calendar no problem, but the problem with contacts, new contacts established categories do not appear on the phone.
Does anyone know how to set up Gmail on the device, but as POP3? It automatically sets it as IMAP, without giving you an option to change it. So I tricked the setup wizard by entering a different e-mail, and entered the settings for POP3. Problem is, messages are being sent - but nothing seems to enter my mailbox. And I get no error message.
Did anyone already do that?
Could seem stupid, but, check if IMAP is active in your Gmail setting panel.
I use 2 gmail account and they works fine.
I'm not using IMAP (since it requires 3G connection, which is expensive), i'm using POP3. And POP3 is indeed enabled in Gmail.
I don't like, for battery, to keep always on a internet data connection and activesync.
I would know if is possible to establish an automatic data connection (gprs-umts) at calendar, tasks, contacts opening to sync with exchange?
Same question here. Why exchange synchronization doesn't work with stock rom?? Is there way to make it work?
hi everyone i am getting my nexus one soon and my friend let me borrow his nexus overnight

I don't think google apps supports exchange? I could be wrong. You'd probably want to just add this as a google account, where in 2.2 multiple google accounts are possible. I think you're doing it wrong.
but u can use the m.google.com for google sync
i even had a setting to enable it on my domain options
and i also used that m.google.com server and recieved emails right away using a normal gmail account to test it out and worked but cant seem to get it to work with google apps domain cuz i dont know what domain/ username i am supposed to put in

You're still doing it wrong....
Exchange is for MS Exchange servers.
What you should do go into accounts and sync, add another google account, type in [email protected] and your password. Should work
how was ot able to work with my regualr gmail account?

I would just use the multiple google apps accounts that 2.1 and 2.2 allow. Worst case it may work as exchange. Google apps also does work with exchange but limited. This is a fact because Windows mobile devices are configured with google apps using active sync.

Correct me if I'm wrong...
Windows Mobile phones use POP/IMAP to sync with any other type of email address other than an Exchange account, because when using an Exchange account you'll need to use the Active Sync protocol.
Google Apps and Exchange are services, not clients or protocols. I don't see how you would be able to use Google Apps with Exchange unless you're doing a migration or have GPO's set on the network to set up Google Apps accounts in Outlook.

Probably through either IMAP or its own proprietary communication protocol. Gmail doesn't support ActiveSync
Gmail does in fact support Exchange ActiveSync protocol, and that is exactly how Windows Mobile devices sync most effectively with Gmail, regular or apps version. They made an announcement last year when the ActiveSync Protocol was enabled.
The config settings should be m.google.com for server, and full email address for username. I haven't tried it, because of the following reason:
The most effective way to get at your gmail from an Android phone is with the Gmail app. It does push just like ActiveSync, and supports more of the features of Gmail, like stars, threaded conversations, labels, etc.
Just tried it with my google apps account, works fine in the email app.
On the first screen, enter your email address and password, then hit manual setup
On the second screen, select Exchange Activesync
On the third screen, enter your email address in the username box (remove the leading "\" as well). Leave the password as entered, and replace the server with m.google.com. Select both checkboxes, click Next
Fourth screen, select your sync options (use Automatic(push)) and other settings as you like
Finally, give the account a name, and enter your display name on outgoing messages, and click Done.
Works great.

Just wanted to put in my pennies. I set up Google Apps accounts as part of my business, and Activesync is the ONLY way you should sync your email on Windows Mobile. It also works for standard Gmail accounts, and it will sync your Contacts and Calendar too. Just don't select Tasks in the sync options or the sync will fail.
Windows Mobile isn't just an Enterprise Solution anymore, thanks to Google.
Hi There!
I want to stop my i9000 syncing contacts with my GMAIL Account. In fact I want to turn off email and calendar syncing as well. I run Stock ROM.
Also how do I turn off the sweep glass, and change it for something like a pull down like on the htc mini?
Where can I find the settings for the ADW Launcher, seems good in some ways but limited in others. I can't create a shortcut to contacts for example.
Thanks in advance.
disconnect from internet wifi etc
settings
accounts and sync
make sure background data and auto sync are ticked
tap on your gmail account
untick contacts and calendar, leave mail ticked
exit and re-enable internet wifi etc
not sure about the other two requests... I use a lock pattern for unlock

What is a lock pattern?
I have done that as per your instructions thank you. That worked.
Can I also know how I can make sync occur over wifi if available? Better still sync every 5 minutes on wifi, and manually on 3g? Also how do I turn off 3g?
