Hi I just got my Samsung Captivate and have already rooted it. I want to add a ROM to it (Most likely Phoenix 2.2.1)
I was wondering, do I need Froyo 2.2 to use this ROM, or will the ROM install that for me? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm honestly confused by the whole thing
Thanks for your help
The rom gives you 2.2.1. Make sure you read, read, read
I did read but its a very confusing thread ^_^
Thank you for your help though!
I talking about everything in general. Read. God luck

Okay, so I apologize in advance for not reading stickies or searching the forums for these particular questions, but I feel like it'd be easier to get straight forward answers, so here it goes.
I have a Cappy, 2.1update-1 on JF6. I'm looking to upgrade to 2.2 so I can flash some 2.2 roms, not interested in GB (atm)
So, heres my question(s).
1) ODIN 1 click won't even recognize my captivate so I can't use that to upgrade to 2.2 and yes I have the correct drivers installed.
2) Do I need to flash to stock 2.2 before flashing a 2.2 ROM for example Cognition 4.5.3? Or can I just flash it straight with CWM?
3) Whats the difference between JI6 and KB1 because I've read a lot of different speculations on those two, aren't they both Froyo?
Any answers would be GREATLY appreciated.
It sounds like your trying to rush into things, Why didn't you read the stickies or search?!? Questions like yours have been asked and answered more than once.
Its best that you read up on the basics (and search) before you flash anything.
Its better to be prepared and safe, than not and be sorry
There are youtube videos that will show you step by step.

Like speedy said, if you would have read the stickies, you would know in detail. These aren't stickied just to be stickied. You need to go over everything before you even think about modding our phone in any way. The stickies are very helpful. The search bar is very helpful. Knowledge is power and ignorance is no excuse. Everything you need to know is given to you straight forward. Use your resources.
Sorry for closing your thread but I feel that it would be better for you to read the stickys and do some research.
