is there just a stock rom i need to flash? i sold my hero on the big auction site for anticpation of the evo and idk if i should put stock back on and if so where to get it.
search the threads or go to sprints website and download the 2.1 ruu
dont flash the ruu, maybe the new owner wants to root it. just wipe it, did you specify anything about rom or root?
Ask the buyer if he still wants it unlocked. If you were smart when you first got your hero you made a stock rom image backup in case. You can still preserve root by restoring this.
Depends on how you rooted. If you used flashrec it made a backup of the 1.5 recovery image. You can use the shell to reflash this recovery image, the instructions can be found on the RA release thread. That way the user could still root if they wanted.

no you wanna do the full root process:
http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?title=Quick_Root
No need to do that, I've messed up before and lost my recovery image. If you have HardSPL or the "Danger SPL" you can flash the recovery image through fastboot.
would i have to unroot first just to be safe? cause under ABOUT PHONE, my model number is ANDROID DEV PHONE 1. thats what is making think i still have root? am i correct ?
bbump. i need help here
It's a g1....It's not hard at all to root just manually root it dude.
Downgrade to rc 29 then follow any guide.

Hello guys, im planning to root and flash my wildfire device for the first time, i already studied and review all related things on hot thing done in wildfire..
now, the only question and seems not posted here..
As i bought my wildfire the stock ROM version is "1.25.707.1 cl227575 release-keys", where can i download this ROM so that incase i got a problems with different custom roms i can revert it back to my original rom version, i cant seems to find it in SHIPPED-ROMs website..
and if there no such thing as that version in the net, is it possible to backup my original ROM?.. (i guess not because i need first the custom loader to have the backup features which will wipe first my original rom before i can backup)..
Thanks!..
as far as i am aware you can use unrevoked to root your phone. this will also install clockworkmod which replaces stock HTC recovery tool. within clockword mod you can make a backup of your current ROM and all apps and settings etc. you dont need a custom ROM to backup your existing ROM. just need your phone to be rooted. which is pretty much a one click process once you have got the windows drivers installed.
not sure about posting external links on forum but google unrevoked and see this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7895908&postcount=127
good luck
Hey guys, I just bought a Nexus One off of craigslist. The guy that I bought it from has CyanogenMod-6.0.0-N1 on it right now. Im not really experienced with flashing custom roms and rooting or any of that stuff. I put Froyo on my Captivate when I had and thats it. What I would like to do is to get my Nexus One back on stock Froyo so I can start with a clean slate. Im not sure of everything that the previous owner did to the phone and Ive been having a couple of issues with it, so I just want to start over so I know exactly what is on the phone. So what I need to know is how I can do this.
-Where can I find a stock Froyo file?
-How do I put it on my Nexus One? Do I have to erase the CyanogenMod first?
-Any other hints or good roms that you guys would suggest.
-Is there a way to back up my phone so I dont have to reinstall all of my apps?
Im sorry if there is already another thread like this. I couldnt find it. Thank you for any help.
I did exactly what you did. I used the Passimg.zip method http://forum.xda-developers.com/wik...des_&_Tutorials#Unroot_.2F_Restore_your_Nexus Was easy as pie. But yeah i didn't need to do backup / restore of apps as it was a new phone. You can't use Titanium Backup without root, but the market as a few other apps that let you backup apps to SD card.
All info including the Froyo ROM files are linked from the wiki. I went with FRG33 and then updated to FRG83.
Thank you. I was reading through the wiki post and I wasn't sure if the files were updated because the original post date was a while ago. So if I do the method that you did, will it unroot my phone? It is rooted right now.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Yes it will unroot it, flash the stock rom and will also flash stock recovery. So if you have a custom recovery installed that will go away too. Plus all your data and apps.

Is there any way to do this without a functioning power button? The only way to select things in the bootloader is with it.

My bootloader is locked, and I'd like to keep it that way. I'm sending it in to HTC and want it to go as smoothly as possible.
Just as an FYI, what I did to get back to stock:
From CM6.0 I flashed clockwork recovery
from clockwork I flashed 4.06 radio (was on 5.08)
flashed stock unrooted FRF91 from an update.zip
used flash_image in ADB from recovery to flash a stock recovery.img pulled from a FRF91 PASSIMG.
Everything works and is 100% stock now.
Sounds like you're all over it then...

Wait, didn't you need to be rooted to flash back the stock recovery?

I was still rooted in clockwork. Using flash_image put it back to stock unrooted recovery.
As it stands I have stock unrooted everything including recovery.
Oh i see, thanks for the details
i had an issue with my newley purchased one and was advised to try flashing a non stock rom to see if the problem would go. it has not and i now need to put the phone back to standard htc sense 4.1 firmware.
I am ssuming that while the phone has bootloader unlocked still and rooted that i can download 4.1 firmware as a zip and put on the memory then flash from recovery? Once done i will use the tool-kit i used to unlock bootloader and root etc to take these off?
Can anyone link me to the correct firmware i need as there seems to be many listed and im not sure which it is.
At the moment i have Android rev 12 on there.
thanks
Come on a fair bag full of posts, but you haven't given the details of the phone.........
And if you have a nandroid backup of the original rom then restoring that returns the phone to how it was.

Can someone please clarify for me....
i used the Hanson - all in one tool kit to unlock bootloader, put on recovery and root the phone. I then installed Android rev 12 to my phone.
I now want to go back to stock and dont have any back up so....
do i just download the stock 4.1 htc rom (this one http://goo.gl/3YQED) then flash this to my phone using the recovery method i used to flash android rev?
do i then just use the Hanson tool kit to remove root and re-lock the bootloader?
Not worried about the phone being completely clean as long as the root has gone and its showing the standard htc firmware in the 'about phone' section....phone is going back to be exchanged due to a hardware fault.
thanks
ive been trying to follow this thread but i seem to get myself lost as i did most of what it says using the toolkit and not adb on computer.
Bad boyz current rom
Updated firmware
Super CID
Rooted (obviously)
S-off
adb reboot-works
adb reboot recovery-works
adb reboot bootloader-works
Fastboot reboot- works
fastboot oem rebootRUU- works
RUU-no worky, says usb device not attached even with current htc drivers
Google unable to connect to server after wipe cuz i turned blinkfeed back on and had to push OK a gizzilian times due top FC and did factory reset.
I can go to dropbox thru browser and install app backup/restore and than restore all apps, but it still fails to connect to google servers as i input info from new device (custom rom) and want to start fresh. I dont care if it wipes internal storage (learned long ago how to keep nothing on device that can't be restored off device)
Yes i wiped everything twice (except system and storage, been there done that nightmare)
So.... Bone stock (any version) rom that can be flashed in recovery......
Barebones back to stock is going to require an RUU. Did you make a nandroid of stock before you rooted the phone or is that how you got it?
If you're looking for rooted stock for most recent 5.03.651.3 rom, go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2766604

Nope, i'm looking for 100 persent stock RUU bone stock RUU flasable in recovery.
I'm going to go back to roots (and i don't mean ROOTED)
Let's say htc evo. You could take the RUU and extract it in rar, now adays it would be 7zip, take the rom and name it to pmg.3400(example) and put it on sd card, then flash it in bootloader. That no longer exists. I have the vary first bone stock htc one sprint rom, and have extracted rom.zip from it, and it wont flash from recovery. I need to.
Looking for old timers who know what to do with this. I don't want rooted version that will flash in recovery, i have that already and fighting to pull stock OTA update out of it to flash in recovery. There has to be someone here that has had the 1st edition sprint android (hero, or evo 1st edition) that knows what i'm talking about.
Yeah, that's the unfortunate side effect of these phones and no longer have an SD slot. And believe me, I remember the Supersonic days. OG EVO was my first HTC device. EVO LTE after the fact and now this phone. Tinkered with other HTC models for other folks as well.
There is an offchance that having SuperCID not matching for Sprint could be a culprit too. I was checking out a few threads about that after I read your reply. As far as some help from someone that is savvy with the M7... BD619 knows his stuff. PM him.
