Streaming Video Quality Stock Browser Vs. Skyfire - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wanted to get feedback on the video quality of streaming video on the stock browser. What I mean, is go to espn.com. It will redirect you to the mobile site, and play the current video. how is your quality on the stock browser?
I"m getting unwatchable quality thru the stock browser while excellent thru skyfire. I want to know if its just me??

Use official YouTube application by Google for WM!
I already installed the youtube app but it isn't so comfortable with me... it bothers me that after a search for a video i cannot categorize the results by rating for example. It also bothers me that the videos are opened with the streaming media app and not with TCMP or another video app. Now, as it concerns the m.youtube.com site, the videos are opened only with the streaming media app and not with another video player. Can i change that? Can somebody help?

[Q] Can't Play Videos from Web?

This question has been asked but never answered. This is a serious problem for the Captivate. any page that has iPhone specific videos cannot be played on our phone. however these videos are simply mp4s that we should be able to handle. especially since mp4s loaded onto our phone can be played. but when we click on a video link in our browser (not just default browser) it says the video wasn't made for our phone and doesn't play it. It seems to be the video players fault because it launches. is there anyway to unlock this feature? if not can we have the browser use another player?
not sure, I am able to play mp4 links/files on my Perception. Do you have a link we can try?

[Q] best browser for HTML5 audio?

Hey noob here,
I just got my first custom Rom (serendipity) hoping I would get access to more HTML5 because I am addicted to the music site hypem.com which streams mp3s via HTML5 audio. Problem is I guess there isn't enough of HTML5 supported on Froyo for HTML5 audio to work.
I clocked all the browsers I knew of on html5test.com and they all got scores of 176. Each actually had a check for the HTML5 audio element but none supported any audio formats. Then in desperation I tried downloading Mozilla Fennec and it got a score of 216 with checks in HTML5 audio support, PCM, Ogg, WebM but no mp3 support.
Anyone know a stock or custom browser that covers all of HTML5 audio that would help me out here?
Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing. I am supernoob to smartphone so not really sure what the problem could be. I have a HTC inspire, stock with dolphin browser, when hit the play button it acknowledged that I clicked but doesn't play. This is on hype.com BTW. I also tried stock browser with no luck. Emailed hypem and they said it should work and people have "been able to make it work.with different froyo/ginyerbread browser combos"
If anyone has any suggestions they would-be most welcomed, thanks

Recommended Handbrake Settings

Can anyone recommend some good settings for converting videos for the Bionic thru Handbrake? I found some online but they didn't really seem to be optimized for the Bionic. TIA
bump...anyone have recommendations for using Handbrake?
I was wondering the same thing, but then I just threw the videos on my phone, downloaded Rock Player and let it do its thing....no more converting

Thanks for the reply. What's the resolution of the videos you're playing, and is the playback quality any better with Rock Player vs. default player?
The reason for the thread is because I have a lot of movies in 720p format that have choppy playback on the Bionic. I found this somewhat ironic since the video camera allows you to shoot video in 1080p and it plays back fine. So I copied one of my 1080p vids recorded by my phone over to my PC so I could look into stuff like the frame rate and audio settings to try to figure out what settings I should be using in Handbrake. And despite my best efforts, the videos I convert in Handbrake still have choppy playback.
Since the Bionic has HDMI output capabilities, I'd like to find out what are the best settings in Handbrake to preserve picture quality while maintaining smooth playback on an HDTV.

Embedded YouTube Quality

Hey folks,
I've tried searching around on the google machine and here for this but I've been coming up empty handed.
When watching a embedded YouTube video through the stock Chrome Browser the video quality is terrible and looks like maybe only 240p. On my Nexus 7 on Chrome Browser, the quality will change based on connection speed within a few seconds. My stock Moto X does not do this either on 4G or wifi. If I watch the video on the YouTube website through Chrome plays perfectly as well as the Application. I found no settings to change the quality of the embedded videos in chromes minimal settings menu.
I've resorted to long pressing on the video, grabbing the link, pasting it and watching it on the YouTube mobile site which is tedious and should not be necessary.
Any tips or suggestions as to how to get the quality to improve. Or does anyone else have this same experience?
Any ideas...?
