I have been checking all my apps to automatically update after I install them.
Today I went into the market to see 2 updates waiting for me but nothing was happening. I exited the market and waited but nothing ever happened.
Anybody got this working for them?

Same for me, using Paul's rooted version on the At&t N1. I also have most of them installed to the SD card.
i also had 2 updates available and it wasn't updating automatically so i just clicked on update all
I am also using Paul's rooted version but my apps are installed on the internal memory.
Can it be because we are not running stock recovery? Or does the market poll for these updates?

You stock or rooted?
im using stock and it's the same here.
Astro shows as have an update, automatic updates were checked and no go :/
Same problem here. Stock bootloader and rom.
I'm on Stock unrooted N1, and today Astro File Manager updated automatically.
I don't think the phone checks every second for updates, otherwise the battery will be dead in no time. You are probably being impatient

When you updated did the icon show in the notification bar? Do you know when the update was released for it?
One thing to notice is that you are not rooted where the rest of us are. I hope I don't have to go to stock recovery in order to get this working.
EDIT: Well ikarma is stock everything and its not working for him.
Any rooted people here have this working for you?

if finally updated my apps last night at about 3am. I wonder if it will run any updates nightly during that time?

Guess it would be pretty battery intensive if it polled for updates all the time and instantly installed any when it becomes available.
Nightly updates sounds nice and I'm glad that I probably won't have to update 25-30 apps from time to time again
Yup, looks like the automatic updates are planned.
When I was messing around with my phone, I saw 2 apps with an update available on my phone, and did it manually.
Later that day, I just had 2 more apps that updated automaticaly.
So my guess is that it will update on a schedule.
after i woke up this morning, i saw all the 3 apps that had updates were automatically updated. It just takes some time.
Hurray!

I, too, can confirm that overnight, I had two apps update automatically.
Sorry to awaken a fairly old thread but does anyone know if there is a way to set apps to be 'automatically updated' by default. There is only a few that I don't want to do that so it's be much quicker if I only had to untick apps I didn't want to rather than the other way round

Hello everyone,
Since Enomther's ROM thread is closed I would like to ask you a question about this beautiful ROM.
Since yesterday I'm receiving update system notification ( I own a Nexus One, so I suppose is Gingerbread update via OTA )
Well, this shouldn't happen, isn't it? I noticed that I have FOTA killer, so that should do the job, but still I'm receiving update system notifications...
Has anyone the same problem? Is there a way to disable the system update notifications?
I just flashed again the FOTAKiller-signed.zip in order to disable them, but I'm still receiving notifications...
Help please
You can disable it by updating your build.prop
Hi,
Also getting the OTA 2.3.4 update notification.
I am running Enomther 2.14.4 and have applied a patch to remove the OTA notification of the previous 2.3.3 update.
How to remove the 2.3.4 OTA notification?
please could you download it while running logcat and let the installation fail in recovery before disabling it? people are looking for the link to the OTA
FOTAKill.zip and then attempt to install the update. It'll reboot to custom recovery and stay there. Just don't do anything with it, reboot back, and the update notification should be gone.
Not to hijack. I am running cm6 and upgrade my h-boot. When I restarted the phone it ask me to update to gingerbread 2.3.3. However u still like running cm6. But it keeps asking me to update. I still not clear how to get rid of this message. Any suggeston?

I am having the same issue and have tried the above solution. I have also allowed the installation to fail and restart. The OTA update notification still comes back. Any solutions?
Thanks!
Make sure that fotakill is installed to internal memory. If it is installed on the sdcard, it probably won't work.

Odd, I installed it, removed the update in /cache, rebooted, haven't seen the notification since.
Hi there, i bought a Nexus S to replace the Xperia X10, and i notice that i can not update the market, i am stuck at 2.3.6.
i went to apps managemet and uninstalled the "updates" and clear the data for the market app but it doesn't work, it keep downloading the 2.3 version instead of the 3.1 version.
In the X10 the market updates correctly so it is not a country related problem.
any ideas???
Download the apk yourself and install it

I wish I could keep the old market. The new one is slow, laggy, having strange bug of it wanting to attach itself to another Gmail I have, and I have no need for books or movies.
If I pull the new out and install old, the new one updates all by itself. I don't know he it's possible to keep the market from updating itself.
Look under /system/app for MarketUpdater.apk and either delete it or change the permissions to 000.
Then go to manage applications and uninstall market update.
Your market will now stay the same

As far as the market goes.....
Make sure you have the MarketUpdater.apk in /system/app. Also clear try clearing data for the market under settings-->applications-->manage applications
And for the software updates....
What version do you have? Because not all models and carriers are at the same software build number.
i haven't rooted the phone, and it is stock.
i am the only one with this problem???
my phone is factory unlocked and it is a i9020a phone.
Its not a "problem". The update isn't instantly pushed to all phones right away. It gets pushed in stages or something to that effect.
Edit:

Download it, put on SD card and install

yes i undesrtand that, but there is a previus version i think is the 3.1.3, and i can't get that version too, and it's released months ago, the strange thing is that i can update to the green version 2.3.1 from the grey one (i don't remenber the version but it's one of the first market available).
3.1.3 was never released to our nexus s
Hi,
I had thesame problem as you are experiencing now. Tried the downloaded version but uninstalled it.
Since this morning i have the official market app.
This is how i got it, maybe it has nothing to do with it but its worth a try.
- go to settings and enable location via.Wifi and cellular
- go to app management and remove cache, app data and the market updates you might have
- in the launcher open market app, accept terms and let it load to home screen
- push home button
- lock your phone for about 15minutes
You should have the new market now. I tried this twice and both times it worked then i disabled the location setting and it didnt work.
Hope this helps you.

I stop trying long time ago thinking it might've been not pushed to the phone yet, I just tried it and it worked.

someone says that the 3.1.3 version was never pushed to nexus, anyone else experienced that??
I am glad that it worked for at least one more person, hope it can help more people.
I dont know if and when 3.1.3 was released but i am on 3.1.5 now.

I did read somewhere yesterday about a device that lost this after an ota...not a vivid. Until its figured out the sideload wonder machine should work
If att took it out of their ota..running the ruu might give it back..maybe?
If its amazon apps..search google for where amazon stores apps temporarily for install, grab the apk, and sideload

Yeah, sideloading works but this is not an deal way to install third party apps for me. Anyway, I used the RUU to reinstall the rom. Now, the option appears under security.

I am not having this problem. It is on mine which was done ota and I am not rooted, etc. Maybe something happened during the flash.
when upgrading occasionally the market will break. try reinstalling it after wiping your phone completely. then restore your apps via titanium backup. it worked for me when i had the problem of going across different roms.
yeah I've installed several Amazon apps, no issues.
Thank goodness I'm still on the leak, the OTA while awesome still has some kinks to work out.
I did the ATT update and the option is there. See screen shot attached.
After I rooted my note 3, the gear stopped working with it! It connects but can't access anything on the phone like contacts, call logs, nothing. Any ideas?
Wow, that stinks. Did you freeze any apps? I would suggest to defroze all of them and see. I have my note 3 rooted, and works with the gear without any issue.
Yea it kept force closing when it tried installing gear updates. I'm trying again.
Mines been fine so far after root. Stupid question but did you try to unpair the watch then reboot and resetup the watch?

Just an update....I rerooted and all is good now. I think when I restored my apps, and some of them were samsung apps, that freaked out the phone and the gear.
So the lesson in this? DO NOT take the easy way out and restore your apps, just download or install them fresh.

Yes, I tried everything. What was happening was it was force closing when trying to install the gear updates. I think because I restored the file with helium. Because it couldn't install the updates, it freaked out and didn't work.
But after a fresh re root flash, it's all working fine again. Haven't rooted since the droid 1 days and it feels good to be back!
You'd better flash rom now to make it come back to work as usual.
Find your rom here : http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=SM-V700
Hope your GEAR come back to work.

You are a bit overoptimistic I would like to have new firmware with less bugs too, (like for example that contacts on the watch are displayed with FIRST name first, even if You want to have them displayed by last name..
Everybody is looking for the new firmware - but it was released SEPTEMBER 16

I tried two rooted debloated roms that both said OTA disabled and i got the nag notification on both. Disappointing!
Same here! I myself used TB to freeze all the system apps which were supposed to trigger the OTA updates, but I still got it. I moved the update.zip from the cache directory somewhere else, so if I accidentally hit update, nothing will happen. But still a nuisance.
Anyone with an idea?
Is this a new problem? For dumb reasons I ended up having to reflash Rydah's stock rooted 5.1 image yesterday and starting mostly all over, it's a pain in the butt. I did freeze pr.adapt and update center but this notification popped up to update. I definitely do not want to update. I thought the rooted ROM blocked updates? I guess not because the notification is there. I tried disabling Google play services notifications but the notification persists.
---------- Post added at 02:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:39 PM ----------
OK guys, I got rid of my notification. I used titanium backup and froze everything I could on the following list,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-g4/help/debloat-package-list-lg-g4-t-mobile-h811-t3168181
I froze very few from the following list, still working on it after my mishap yesterday.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/lg-g4-stock-debloater-list-g4-variants-t3167297
The notification was still there, but I decided to reboot and now the notification is gone. Hopefully it sticks. Where can I find the update.zip so I can delete it and clear up some space.

Hmm, I found it comes back from time to time. So definitely need to get to the bottom of what pulls down the update. Still don't think we've nailed the offending apk/service.

As of yesterday and last night, update.zip did not return after I froze all those apps. I wish I could've pinpointed the exact app. All I can say was I froze all those apps on the first list, and maybe line one or two from the other list and the notification was still on the screen. I rebooted because after freezing so many apps, I was worried about a boot loop. My phone booted fine and the notification was gone and it didn't come back. I just checked cache and update did not come back
Well damnit, the update.zip came back probably last night. I don't have the notification though, that is gone but I'm not happy having that file come back. If anyone at all can pinpoint the reason it comes back, please post!

Mine came back too. Deleted the update.zip again.. but would like to disable it for sure.
You could always try moving the files, then put a same-named read only (e.g. chmod 440) file in it's place - or maybe safer yet is put a directory of the same name there.
