Froyo Dialer Button -> Dialer One - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to change the standard dialer app to Diale One or similar?
In Froyo there a new buttons besides the luncher icon.
Telephone and Browser.
Dolphin HD is the default browser on my system and the new browser button on Froyo opens Dolphin HD, BUT the new Telephone Button opens the standard dialer instead of my installed Dialer One ...
How can i change this?

Been hoping someone would figure this one out. Bump for you.

As noted in the changelog notes for Dialer One, there is currently no way to replace the Dialer button on the default Froyo Launcher.

use launcher pro and change the shortcut. its great.

Setting default action on Froyo shortcuts (dialer and browser)

Is there a way to set the Froyo shortcuts (dialer and browser) to launch a different app?
I need Dialer One instead of the default phone app so that I can use the dialer to find contacts by name/number with the keypad.
No you can't. What you can do however, is download a home alternative, like zeam, and then use dialer one where you please.
Gah, seems like a waste to have it there and not use it...
Think I may have to get a different home app

Dialer not installed?

Hey guys,
My dialer shortcut icon at the bottom of the screen to the left of the drawer and web browser button is no longer working. The icon has been replaced with the white and green Android icon that looks very similar to the Market icon. When I click it, it says, "Application is not installed on your phone." I can access the dialer if I put a Contacts icon on my desktop.
How can I fix this problem?
Has anyone encountered this problem? I went into stock recovery mode and I cleared the cache but the dialer icon still does not work.

Will it launch from the app tray? And are you using the stock launcher or a custom one?
I've found every time a built-in app updates I have to remove it from ADW and put it back or it doesn't work. Google Maps, Google Voice... I think those are the two I've noticed it on but pretty sure it's anything that's in the ROM. Maybe that's the issue.
Khaytsus,
Thanks for the response. You were right on the money. It was my ADW Launcher that I installed. The uninstalled and reinstalled ADW and it works perfectly now. Thank you.

erm.. You would not have to reinstall ADW to fix that, just replace the shortcut in ADW, but okay, glad it's fixed

Darky Rom 10.2 Stock android sms app

I'm using Darky Rom 10.2 atm and it's just perfect except for one thing. I don't like the samsung style sms app with the text bubbles.
Is it possible to replace that app with the stock android sms app like the one in cyanogenmod 7?
I tried replacing the mms.apk in system\app with the one from CM7 and it works but when I open the settings it force closes. Also the messaging icon isn't in the dock anymore when i replace the mms.apk and I would like to still have that.
Handcent would be an option if the messaging icon in the dock could launch that app. Right now it only launches the default app and ignores all the others.
Thanks in advance for any help.
You could try Go SMS. In my opinion it's the best SMS-app.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Oh thanks that's such an awesome app. Any idea on how I can edit the TWlauncher dock shortcut to launch gosms instead of the samsung styled app?
Edit: figured out how to edit the dock.
One final question, is it possible to edit the icon of certain apps and possibly even the name?
Edit2: figured that out as well,

Call, SMS and Gmail, WhatsApp notification?

Hello I'm searching for an app oder widget, which shows me the number of missing calls and messages in different symbols. On my old phone I used the GO Laucher EX and the notification plug-in. Now on the Nexus S, I want to use the stock launcher but I miss the notification function a lot. Is there a working alternative in the big android market?

[Q] nova launcher 15 beta --- Phone dialer

Hi guys...
I just installed nova launcher 15 beta and I must say " This is VERY VERY NICE :cool"
Now,,, I don't see the phone dialer anywhere in nova at all...
what do i do ?? Do I get the dialer from the market and launch the dialer icon in the nova ?
Many thanks in advance
What ROM are you using? I know that some of the ICS ROMs are having issues with the dialer/ Contacts connections.
I have simply downloaded "Dialer One" from the Market. Works like a charm.

You can use Touch Pal Dialer.
Found it... (ICS SGS2)
I found the link that works under contacts.
To add it as a shortcut:
Hold down, choose shortcuts, applications, contacts, phone.
Works for me on a Galaxy S2, ICS 4.0.3, showing the full phone interface with call logs, contacts and favourites (starred contacts)
Hope it works for you too. Didn't like the idea of downloading another dialer, I was happy with the stock version.

When you install the Nova Launcher the dialer doesn't automatically comes to the main screen. Are you sure that you don't have dialer under the application drawer? It should be there...just long press it and drop it on the home screen. Done!!
For other people finding this thread - I found it as an app called 'Phone', not dialer.
