I did the reg fix to get hspa turned on on my pure and it displays H for a while . but after a restart or 2 it goes back to plain UTMS and wont go back up .
ideas?
I've noticed a lot of registries revert after SR.
There is no fix, just have to reset them.
Maybe easier to make it into a cab and just install when they revert.

I recently flashed my G1 to:
CyanogenMod 1.4
JACxROM-v1.3r3
ota-radio-2_22_19_26I
and the newest SPL
I've noticed the phone never actually gets 3g connectivity anymore - only edge.
Any clues?
Hmmm, that is really weird, did you check the settings and make sure the Use 2G network only is not checked? I dont get 3g either way because I am using att but I dont see why it would affect anything like that when you flash a rom.

Yessir. Its unchecked. I noticed this same problem as well back when I had my ATT Tilt (htc kaiser). Soon as I started flashing roms and radios, I lost all 3g connectivity. Had to go back to the dealer to get a new chassis.
REALLY hoping that isnt the case with this one. Did a speed test with wifi tether - I have four full bars of service, but I'm only getting ~20k/s downstream and the symbol by the service indicator bars is an E
I'll have some more time today to test it while out and about, using other towers and I'll report back here once thats taken place
Yea, I would try some other towers. If that doesn't work then I would try going back to the original spl, radio, and rom and see if 3g works then. It would really blow goats if that was the case, and I would brick the phone or something to get a replacement because 3g should work no matter what seeing as how it is a hardware thing. Maybe try a few different romslike cyanogen cuz I know people who use it and still get 3g.

Wont that brick the phone? I heard that going back to old radios is a no-no.
I beleive if you do it in the right order it should be ok but I could be wrong, try searching around. If not I would atleast try using a tmobile rom. I looked around on google and didn't find any info on this problem so I really think it is either a rom problem or something with the towers, I don't see how flashing anything would affect your 3g band or stopping the phone from using it.

If your gonna do this, flash the DREAIMG.nbh file from the original rooting process
F YOU HAVE THE NEW SPLE FROM HAYKURO.. DO NOT FLASH DREAIMG.NBH FILE IT WILL ALSO INSTALL THE OLD RADIO AND THUS WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE.........
It is an easy fix though... just Re-Flash the HardSPLhttp://koushikdutta.blurryfox.com/G1...SPL/update.zip
Do that ^^^^^^ and you can re-Flash the DREAIMG.nbh (RC29) image with no problems

I did alot of searching and this is what I found, so if your still having the problem then this is how I would go back to the original rom. If you just flash back to RC29 DREAIMG.nbh without switching the SPL first then you will brick because RC29 flashes the old radio back along with the rom. Something else I thought of trying would be if your significant other has a 3G capable phone try holding the both in the same place and see if they get different reception (3G/E).
I spent some time driving around - no 3g connectivity at all.
So the consensus is to flash all the way back to rc29 and go that route?
also, that url that was linked above was shortened - anybody got the full one?

My g1 have big problem, it loss signal all day, most the time. I tried turn on air plane mode and turn off, or retart the phone, wipe, up another rom, up newest radio version, use 2g network only. But it doesn't work.
It loss signal random, i can't control or do something to have signal again. even i change many other sim cards. but i discover one thing: seem this problem related air plane mode. because in some rom version, i turned off air plane mode but it didnt, even i restart my phone it still on. i must take out the battery for long time and put it again.
Some time it have signal again but it only for short time.
How can i fix this problem, please help me.
please someone can help me. my phone isn't a phone anymore
hhmmm...Try to upgrade to the latest radio for g1. If that doesn't help, maybe your rom has messed up apn settings or the service in your area dropped.

I can add few things to this since I experience loss of signal multiple times every day:
I have 2 G1s. On both of them it happens:
1. Using different ROMS (CM, Super-D, OpenEclair)
2. Using different recoveries (RA 1.5.2 and 1.6.2)
3. At different times of the day
4. Using different radios (older radio and the newest one, sorry I can never remember the numbers)
5. Across different states ( I took one of them thru 5 different states and it kept loosing signal)
What happens is that I start a program that requires data (twidroid, FB, Gmail, Market) and I see my connection get stuck on the uplink, go away completely and restart the radio. Another way it will do it, is that it will stay on blank screen (or downloading screen) and there will be no uplink or downlink shown)
Tried: wiping, re-flashing radio, re-flashing rom, getting rid of few apps.
Anyone with any insight on this? I can get a log next time this happens if anyone wants to take a look.
Thank!
i tried many diferent rom, radio, and recorvery too. but it still doesn't work?
Now i discover that any connect in my g1 seem doesn't work. wifi can search but when i connected it can't open any page even google. gps can receavie signal, bluetooth can turn on but no one can see me or i can' connect to my headset bluetooth.
May i think it is mainboard's problem? i opened my g1 and see anten signal very perfect, don't have any space or something like that.
Ok, I just got my G1 and rooted it asap. It worked fine, 3G worked, and I flashed to DangerSPL, 2.22.23.02, Cyanogen 6. All was well. I then saw the thread for SuperFroyo, and was attracted to the idea of Cyanogen that was supposedly even more optimized. Don't really know what I was thinking, don't fix what ain't broke.
Anyway, I wiped and restored, then flashed SF. I soon found that I had no 3G, and the fact that half the text when flashing SF were in spanish scared me. So I decided to wipe+restore and flash CG6 back, and flashed google apps while I was at it. This brought me more trouble: 3g was still missing, I was getting MASSIVE fc's, and the home button didn't work. I decided to re-flash, and everything worked, but still no 3G. Just for kicks, I flashed to SF and back to CG6. No 3G.
Basically what I mean by "no 3G" is that it'll appear to function, but when accessing the internet I get sent to a page saying that i don't have it activated on my plan, even though i definitely do (just checked too). So what do I do?
Well my friend. Pick a rom first off and read the threads of that rom and you won't have spanish text. Second of all make sure you do a full wipe when flashing from cm6 to superfroyo. Third type *#*#4636#*#* in your phone dialer. select wdcma prefered. Then you should get your data connection back
sent from my superfroyo dream
I dont know what I did to my captivate, but for some reason the signal strenth icon says "EV" next to it.. I know this is not right since I have a GSM phone with AT&T.. also the Wifi icon now looks like this " | " a pipe. and I also get a weird triangle and some other icons.
i think the GST Galaxy S Tweaker messed with it, but i do not know how to get it bacl.. anyone .. ideas?
thank you?!
Did you make a nandroid backup? If not, you need the original framework-res.apk for the rom you are on.
Hi,
Got a really annoying issue with my Nexus One that has been happening since the Froyo days, when I leave home to go to work I turn the Wi-Fi off on my phone to save battery. Sometimes I use the widget sometimes I go through the settings.
The problem is that the 3G doesn't alway's kick in, the only way for me to get 3G working is to turn my phone off and on which always works.
Any suggestions on why this is happening and how to resolve them?
I am running Stock Ginger Bread on my Nexus One on the the Vodafone network in the UK.
Try checking your signal strength: *#*#4636#*#*
You can try to enable 3G only and see if you can keep a signal.
My signal is sometimes intermittent due to topography. Stupid flat Ohio. Haha

Thanks, it won't be that though because once I turn the phone off then back on it's there. Also once I turn W-Fi off and 3G doesn't kick in, then it won't do untill I restart. Also another reason why I know this isn't the case is because even when I do this at work 3G doesn't kick in and there is a Vodafone 3G mast on the roof
never seen this problem before, but it sounds like something that might have to be fixed by doing a full wipe and reflashing your ROM. i know its drastic, so maybe do a nand backup first. then flash and see if the problem remains. if its still there, than just go right back to your backup and no harm and nothing lost. worth a shot.

I'm on a stock Nexus One unrooted so I shouldn't have to Root to fix an Android problem. Never Rooted before but considering it.
I got the exact same problem with Froyo and Gingerbread ROMs, can't remember if I had that issue with MIUI ROMs, but definitely with CyanogenMod ROMs.
Instead of rebooting the phone I suggest switching flight mode on/off it's faster than a full reboot
Haven't found any real solution yet and always thought I'm teh only one with that problem as I couldn't find any other person with that issue. Right now I'm testing different Radio/ROM combination and if that doesn't work I'll need to check if any app is causing the problem.
Any chance you are using Tasker?

I used to use Tasker but uninstalled it when I thought that it was causing this, it wasn't. Thanks for the tip about airplane mode, worked a treat.
