Reconstruct GPS antenna - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Om youtube i saw a mod to increase audio volume, I tried it.
I removed the backcover, beside the camera I saw some tape and removed it, not knowing it was the GPS antenna. So now I can't get a fix on gps anymore.
I feel really stupid now.
Doe anyone know how to fix this, create a new antenna or something.
On the inside I saw some contact but I don't know which one is the gps.
I think it 's supposed to be on the left side as seen on the bottom picture.

Hope anyone can help me.
Thanks in advance.

Infrared Remote

I love my IIi, but has anyone noticed that the infrared function on the pocketpc is quite weak? I can't seem to affect my tv from a normal hotel room's bed to the TV screen using Novii Remote. Anyone experienced the same problem or issue?
somehow the IIi infrared not very far.... I had same problem too....
I notice it too, my symbian phone equipped with a remote control application can control the same television farther than my XDA2i.
nfrared Range
I have seen this problem elsewere. If you look at the black top opposite the power button, you will notice a small oblong indentation, this is where the infrared signal comes through, for some reason HTC did not put a clear plastic cover which reduces the range, either take the black cover off and push out the blank, or an easier way is to take a craft knife and carefully cut out the blank, the plastic is not very thick at this point. Then you should have the range you need for remote function.

Nearly forgot here is the link to the Alpine Service Manual, if you need to take the black cover off.
ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Alpine
Thanks, it's much appreciated. Sounds a bit drastic though, something as physical as cutting or removing the black cover . I tried to download the manual, but it gives me a permission denied error.
I have same problem when i try to ftp://ftp.xda-developers.com/Uploads/Alpine??
Correct XDA FTP login info for Alpine Service Manual
Hi,
It's not that drastic as you can see that it is removable, in hindsight you would be better off taking thecover off and then removing the blanking plate, let me know how you get on.
sorry forgot the user/password to FTP, HERE IS THE CORRECT LINK. ftp://xda:[email protected] As before goto uploads then alpine and you will see the doc called HTC XDA II-MDA II Service Manual.pdf.

A word of warning to anyone intending to modify/mutilate their alpine. I removed the blanking plate only to find that the IR function increased range by some 30cm. So I still can't control my TV from my settee with my alpine

GPS cant lock

My gps cant lock without enabling.wireless connections (wifi, 3g). So im asking if someone else is having that problem. Im using 4.1.2 jelly bean
you are not using the gps but its wifi! so i fixed it by:
you can always do the gps antena hack.
i just opened mine and looked for gps contact point
its located above the rear camera.
theres a little coper spring like metal tha conects the main board
to the rear case of the phone.
if you examine it well.
the main reason we cant connect or lock that fast
its because the contact copper is not touching the small antenna on the rear case
that why soldering it or putting some folded paper(easy) bellow that copper spring will fully
push the conntacts between the mobo and ant.
then put it all back in. and try many app for testing gps lock.
i opened mine because its so frustrating that if with0ut this hack gps will lock more than 2-5mins which is b**s***
as i sc it before dou to other problem and they pull my waranty sticker,
so now i can freely open my unit and check things out as well.
now it locks much faster than before. but to tell you
"sgy-young" is way too fast to lock location about 8-15 seconds only!
i fixed my gps, (PLUS!) my:: wifi boost range and network boosted too!
i just solder copper wires inside to do the trick.
so goodluck! and you can do it! no need to use wifi or mobile data.
just pure gps!
it'l be solve, as it solved mine!
goodluck
I dont understand why i have to do this. Why didnt samsung fixed it properly.? So you re telling me that this is a hardware problem. This sucks i dont want to open my phone
Try use "FIX GPS" (google play)

[Q] people complain they cant hear me

Hi i'm using a rooted htc one and people often complain they cant hear me during calls. I was wondering if there was anyway I could enhance the microphone so that my voice is louder. I'm using android 4.1.2 and sense 5. The case i'm using has a hole on the back in the top right corner and on the bottom to the left of the usb adapter jack where I think the microphone(s) are. I looked at other threads but I was having this problem before I rooted my htc one and was hoping that now it has been rooted there was some sort of hiden control I can use to turn up the michrophone setting. Thanks
bump
If it wasn't working right before you rooted it, then it means it is a hardware problem. I don't think this is necessarily a sensitivity issue. I think it has to do with the noise canceling.
Talk to HTC or whatever carrier you have.
Also, make sure to hide all signs of root!
Hej layzz, there is a thread with a similar problem: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2380867
Just as I mentioned there, it could be the hole at the underside of your case being just way to small, or (as I realized just recently) a very special hardware problem (so to say). During calls I had always covered the mic with my little finger, no wonder no one understood me.
Give it a shot

The mic hole at the bottom of the device is clearly visible. Would you mind posting a link to that rom please?

This ROM is based on 4.2.2 on 2.24 all my problems are pretty much fixed
I have this very same problem on my brand new stock device. I created a thread for the same problem. I found that the earpiece quality was brilliant but again people could not hear me or said I was very quite. I experimented with case on and case of and calls to different phones and 9/10 times the problem was there. I then decided to install android revolution hd to see if there was a problem with the stock rim for some reason. Sadly this didn't work. I then turned my attention to the lower microphone. Now I am not suggestion you do this by any means however in my case I felt I had nothing to lose as I was going to have to send the phone to HTC to get fixed if I could not sort it myself.
I got the small sim removal tool and stuck it into the mic hole in a bid to try and open the hole up abit as it seemed very small and I wondered also if it was blocked. I did this a little at a time and then tried calling people to see if there was any change. Instantly there was an improvement. However, now it seemed like 5\10 calls were low. So, I tried the same again.
I now have not had the problem in the last 15 or so calls I have made however what I have noticed is that now for what ever reason when I'm in calls the person on the other end sounds a little distorted through the earpiece. Don't know why this should be and maybe a completely unrelated problem or something linked to installing the other rom. Either way at least people can hear me now.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
Thanks everyone. The problem seems to be fixed after installing that custom rom

GPS no fix fixed

Hi everyone just thought I would share my own experience in case it will help anyone. My z started being very erratic with a GPS fix, navigon would lose fix every 15 seconds I used GPS test and it only found 3/4 sats. Flashed other ROM same issue, downgraded to 4.3 same problem. Thought it was hardware so I took of the back and removed the GPS module, on there was two pins that make contact with the GPS module and one was slightly lower than the other, I gently pulled them up so they made good contact with the GPS module, cleaned the contacts on the GPS module put it back together and hey presto almost instant fix on 11/14 sats. I did drop the phone and also had a bad habit of flexing it sometimes also worth mentioning one motherboard screw on the left was fully out when I took the back of. Hope this will help anyone with similar issue.

The NFC chip itself is located ~1cm from the top, quiet centered.
The antenna, which is the important thing, is on the back centered and has a diameter of around 5-6cm.
When I use Google Pay I got the message, that I moved my phone too fast, very often. I don't know if it's NFC or antenna related. Maybe the aluminum case makes some issues, newer phones are made with glass, plastic or ceramic instead of metal.
