need help after installing recovery - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey guys, i'm in a slight problem and in need of help...
i have a nexus one for few months now and a friend of mine asked me to root his new device and install a recovery img for him.
so i did, as i did for my nexus one and as any guide says. i installed the bootloader drivers. after checking fastboot-windows devices recognize the phone i unlocked the oem and installed boot.EPE54B.superboot.himem.img.
then, went to install the recovery img. again, checking fastboot-windows devices recognize the phone and after it did i fastboot-windows flash recovery recovery-RA-nexus-v1.7.0.img and the command prompt said the writing was ok.
then i rebooted the phone and it did reboot fine. tried to re boot it but then all went to hell. the phone booted but with no display! the phone is working, and touch screen is working (i'm hearing the startup notification and i sense the heptic feedback when i press things) but the display isnt working at all...
any idea what went wrong and how can i fix it?

anyone got any idea whats wrong with my phone?
is it something i did or is it a hardware malfunction?

What rom did you flash? have your tried flashing it again/another?
it would be very unlikely that you have caused physical damage to the phone, so it should be temporary, or coincidental.

It seems like the phone was physically damaged or sth like that. Try to wipe all and flash a new custom ROM from recovery and see how it goes.
P/s: Lol, never try to help ur friends to do stuff like this, cuz there is a big chance that you might mess it up and have to give him yours, or buy a new one for him, which is worse

i didnt flash any ROM, it has stock ROM at the moment...
you think flashing a new rom will help? i'll need to flash it from adb, as i cant really get into the recovery (as i have no display )

[Q] HTC One Bricked (bootloop)

Hello folks,
During update from Revolution HD 3.4 to 3.5 something went wrong and process stopped before it got finished. Now I ended up in bootloop, even recovery is not working. I've tried to use RUU but failed on CID verification as I'm having the phone from 3 IE. Is any chance to bring it back to life or i just got very expensive paper weight ?
Or if anyone can provide RUU for 3 IE I'm willing to pay for it.
Bad day, bad day...
Thank you for any advice.

Thanks, for hint. Got recovery working again
What I have done.
1.) Unlocked, re-locked bootloader.. (i think this did the trick, full wipe ?)
2.) Wiped cache
3.) Re-flash clockworkmod
4.) Upload ROM using sideload.
Now the phone is back. I hope i will not break something again.
Hi, I am having the same issue with my phone as of right now. I tried re-locking bootloader and then unlocking again and also reflashing clockwork and I am still getting the bootloop and cannot access recovery (flashes for 0.1 secs and then disappears).
What exactly did you do to fix the issue?

Hi Riyal,
I have fixed that issue with fastboot erase cache. Now, I am having a problem loading a ROM because it states in recovery that it "can't mount SD card"?
Figured it out, I just had to ADB push a stock rom and then re-wipe/re-flash

I had the same problem, going to try to sideload this stock de-odexed rom (didn't work the first few times) and CHILL THE PHUCK out until AOKP.
scared me lol first HTC device, brand new, and I thought I broke it.
P.S I realized that REVOHD uses AROMA, that's why it wouldn't sideload.... Am I Rite?

My HTC One device is actually suffering the same problem.
I bought my HTC One Sprint(Sim-Free Edition) in the US and got it to India.
But after I inserted my Indian Sim it said ''SIM LOCK ENABLED''.....I just got frustrated and
rooted the device and tried to install ''Android RevolutionHD (Odexed)'' Stock ROM with the help of TWRP.
But after I installed the stock rom, my device is just showing the HTC symbol and hanging there itself.
It Hangs there for around 6-7mins and reboots and the same happens again.
The only thing I can do is to get in to the bootloader and Power OFF the Device.
Any Help???? Please..... just having a costly paper weight since 2 weeks.
Please need help urgently....!!!

Extract the boot.img from the Rom

Now connect you phone with pc with your phone booted in fastboot/bootloader,
Later flash boot.img by following command
"Fastboot flash boot boot.img"
Reboot and your done
If you do not know how to use abd search for it
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using xda premium

The Sprint version is never going to work on any carrier other than Sprint. It's a CDMA device. The sim slot if for connecting to Sprint's LTE network, but requires a CDMA connection first and foremost to work at all.

I'm stuck on the same boat :\
I was able to finally boot into CWM recovery but I'm getting write errors all over the place.
I used the AIO Kit to re-lock the bootloader and unlock it - Reflashed CWM - Tried to sideload ARHD 10.0 but the DOS prompt errors out saying that it cannot find my device.
Little help?

i was going through the same thing yesterday and i thought i had bricked my phone. what i did that finally worked, was unplugging the usb, restarting the computer, reinstalling htc drivers, then restarting the computer, then using a different usb port. i was finally able to sideload ARHD whereas before i could do fastboot commands, but it wasn't responding to the sideload, and wasn't able to mount the sdcard, so i thought i was screwed. :good:

Thanks for the tip, I was able to get back into AROMA but the original issue that got me to this point came up again. Aroma installer runs and during the install it kicks itself out and sends me back to recovery, so the installer doesn't complete. It gets to about 30% and craps out just after it writes system data and starts to install the .apk's. Screen goes black and it reboots itself and sends me to recovery.
thoughts?

No I can't......I also forgot I am running windows 8, when I use the adb device nothing, any adb codes, or serial numbers don't show up. No matter what is done recovery is not working. I have an s4, it too was in the same state, I was able to download ROM to external SD card, rebooted into recovery mode, and re-flash ROM. That is almost fixed...
If I get a female to female USB and mount the USB somehow will it give it the same effect? If so any suggestions? Or any other suggestions to help me get through this?

Yes, that would be my advice. Go to a site like Amazon, and search for a "micro USB OTG cable". They are inexpensive, and will allow you to use a flash drive with the phone in recovery. Then download a rom onto a flash drive, and install from there.

Thank you for replying!!! How would I get into recovery with no access to the phone? Is there a manual script to get into it? Also I can upload a picture of the only part of the phone I can see if that would help?

Hold down the power button while holding down the volume down button at the same time until the phone reboots. If it does not, use the same procedure while holding the proximity sensor under a bright light (sounds weird but it works!). Phone will boot into bootloader mode, select recovery, and you will be good to go. I'll take a look if you upload a pic, sure
I had something similar, but managed to get in through ABD (windows 7), but also remembering that I was stuck in a boot loop, i wiped cache , re tried and rom loaded and booted. Have a read up on ABD in windows 8, see if there's anthing your missing or specific modded files needed for windows 8 and ADB running, just my opinion

[Q] Emergency! NEED HELP IMEDIATELY!!

Ok so how do I start this? Well I got an htc one for christmas and I wanted to root it. Everything was fine until I decided to flash a custom kit kat rom. The rom was stuck in a boot loop so I went back to twrp and flashed my recovery. I thought I fixed everything but then I stopped getting phone service. It kept saying looking for service. I thought it was a bad recovery so I downloaded cm from rom manager. While it was downloading, the phone just randomly rebooted. It kept doing this and still is.so then, being the idiot I am, flashed clockwork recovery to see if it would change anything. I tried downloading cm from rom manager again and finally finished downloading before it started rebooting again. I went into clockwork recovery and flashed cm and now it keeps rebooting and I have no phone service. I have no idea what to do. By switching from twrp to clockwork, I lost my recovery. Im totally screwed. I need help please! What do I do!!!!????
Run an RUU to fix and only flash roms that are made for Sprint or have Sprint support.
Sounds like you flashed a GSM rom that's why everything is jacked up.

You *have* to get your Android SDK setup properly. All the commands your run end up on "command not found" of "invalid exe" and that suggests a few things:
First -- make *sure* you install the correct SDK for your computer. If you can't find them, let us know what your computer is (32-bit, 64-bit, windows, etc.). Further, it seem possible:
1) You did not yet install the Android SDK (or ADT bundle if that's what you grab);
2) If just the SDK, you did not run the 'android' app and let it update all the platform-tools apps (that's adb, fastboot, etc);
3) You did not open a command shell in the <sdk>/platform-tools directory, or you did not add your <sdk>/tools and <sdk>/platform-tools to your path. Further:
Finally -- make sure you have your USB drivers loaded if you're using Windows.
Don't run 300 miles per hour trying to fix things -- it'll kill your phone. Relax, take a breath and get the SDK setup. That will solve most of your problems (if not all). At least that's what it looks like from afar.
Before you run any of the RUU, you should be able to type either of:
adb devices
or
fastboot devices
The latter works only when you are at the bootloader with your USB plugged in and you selected 'fastboot'; the former runs only when your phone is booted fully.
The Sprint 3.05.651.5 RUU is available here: http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-sprint/news/ (Install at your own risk!)

[Q] Soft brick(?)/usb drivers issue

Hey all! I'm having some big problems getting my phone working. I was running Venom One rom for a while but then decided to try out something else and installed the CM 11S. Again phone worked perfectly but I got used to using Venom so I wanted to go back to it. And that's where I fu**ed it I think... I've installed the rom (I'm using T.W.R.P 2.7.1.1, standard cache and data format) like previously and again everything went smoothly with no errors. However, when I restarted the phone it got stuck on HTC logo. But it wasn't stuck like you couldn't do anything, I could lock the screen and when I unlocked it it would present me with the usual lock screen, time, taskbar etc. but when you unlocked it it went back to the HTC logo after a while an error popped up saying that the htc dialler was not responding. I haven't came across something like that ever before... So I went back to recovery and flashed the system again and again I had the exact same issue. So then I went and formatted everything including my internal storage, and that's where I made the biggest mistake. I forgot that I had the rom zip on internal storage and I'd lose it if I format the partition. No problem you'd say BUT I can't copy anything onto the phone.
When I connect the phone to my PC in recovery mode it just refuses to mount!! No matter which partition I want to mount, nothing comes up in my computer. I went on to the device manager and surely enough the HTC One is an unknown device... I tried side-loading the rom but the adb can't connect to the phone. I tried re-installing the HTC sync just to make sure I definitely have the usb drivers but still no luck. ADB devices command shows no devices connected. I've run out of ideas and I'm regretting my decision to try different roms...
I really don't want to buy a new phone so if anyone has ANY ideas please right it down. Thanks in advance!

don't worry, you'll not have to buy another phone. Your issue is one of the most common issue we see here. First I will recommend you to use twrp 2.7.1.1 only to flash CM11 based roms and use twrp 2.6.3.3 or 2.6.3.4 for any Sense based roms.
You will first need to fix your drivers issue so you can adb push or adb sideload the rom to your phone again. there is a guide linked in my signature (nkk71's guide). In this thread, there is instruction (in the FAQ #2) about how to solve drivers issues.
When your drivers issue are solved, flash twrp 2.6.3.3:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
then boot in twrp 2.6.3.3 and adb push or sideload venom and hopefully it will be able to boot and it will be stable.

The only weird thing is, I used the 2.7.1.1 to flash the sense rom in first place and everything worked fine :/ . Anyway, thanks for the shout! :good: I'll give it a try right now and see how it goes.
Right, I'm having problems installing the drivers for some reason. The ones downloaded from this thread don't seem to be doing anything at all. When click on them they show up for a split second in task manager and then they disappear. No install wizard no nothing. So i downloaded the ones for Windows 7 from here but this just gives me a message that "Windows could not find driver software for your device." . I mean, what the hell?
Edit: Right, after a lot of struggle I've managed to successfully bring my phone back to life! I have no idea what caused the issues with installing the drivers. I've spent ages deleting every trace of HTC drivers, then installed Windows 7 ones and somehow it worked. Then flashed t.w.r.p 2.6.3.3 and venom and it seems to be working smoothly! Hopefully no more problems . Thanks a lot for helping out man!

Very Frustrated(not getting past bootanimation despite every try

I just got my motorola yesterday. I did quite a few things like unlocking it and rooting it..After my first initial root it worked fine but earlier today i decided to install lollipop. I was using the twrp version 2.7 to install the rom but i realised it wasnt working till i tried a few more time and it finally it. I tried back up my stock 4.4.4 room before i installed my new rom but it failed several times because i think the recovery was faulty to say the least. Anyways my lollipop worked very fine but i notice anytime i restarted the phone it took a long freaking time to restart but it was working normal as usual until i restarted my phone another time and realised i couldn't go past the bootanimation. It takes forever but i never get past it. I then decided to flash the twrp 2.8.0.1. After flashing i realised I could do a backup but it was too late. I tried a few tricks I've always used to get past the bootanimation like mounting the storage but it never shows up on my pc. I also tried side loading the rom using the adb sideload command but it never workedd.it always shows up saying "error: device not found" but when i go back to the bootloader and use the fastbootdevices command it shows up my device. IS there any recovery that will allow me to sucessfully mount my storage or sideload my rom without all this hussle?Even my the the bootloader unlock warning reboots several times before getting to the never ending bootanimation
rom:TitanPrimeROMv1.3-XT1068-69_RC1

Rooted
TWRP 2.0.8.1
Window 8.1 64bit
I already have my mini sdk files
There's a number of guides in this subforum that goes through flashing the stock firmware for your phone. The reason you're getting bootloops is because there's currently no stable way to get root access on Lollipop for this phone, but it is being worked on.
ADB can be a bit finicky, so it'd probably be easier to have your ROM on the phone itself, whether in the data/media/ folder in Internal Storage, or on an SD card, since neither are wiped whenever you factory reset or clean your phone. TWRP 2.8.2.0 and above allows you to enable MTP mode so you can move your files straight onto or off your phone.
Actaully i managed to root my phone using chainfare's auto rode for the moto G.I just also installed twrp 2.8.0.3. Unfortunately,I dont have any rom on my phone which is bummer. Yh I do get to MTP enable my device in recovery but it never shows up on my pc.I have had issues like this before and I got it done in minutes without no problem..This is my first motorola device and I'm regretting my choice in buying this phone

Did you try manually selecting the driver is device manager?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/restore-to-stock-t2873657 This thread is your best friend. The other thing is that you'll probably need to uninstall the drivers for your phone from Hardware Manager on your OS, unplug your phone, then plug it back in when you're in recovery, and your OS should pull the right drivers to get ADB working. Still, you've got fastboot so the best option for you at the moment is to just restore your phone to stock and go from there.
As I said, though, root doesn't work on Lollipop for our phone yet, and AFAIK we don't have the kernel sources yet for Chainfire (the developer of SuperSU amongst other things) to get root access working without causing bootloops.

Huh.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47820707 This contains just the mfastboot.exe file for each OS, it /should/ work since it's essentially the same file. Just put the files in that .zip into your folder with adb and fastboot in it, and you should be good to go.

Thanks Dude, After your last message I rechecked the mfastboot-v2 folder on the thread and realised the only new file in there was the mfastboot.exe file so i quickly googled it and saw another thread in which i found the file.I downloaded it and then executed all the commands. Goshh I finally saw my phone boot up in a long time which brought a huge smile to my face.
I would like Thank all of you guys who took the time out to visit this thread and give me suggestions. THANK YOU BROS
I really appreaciate it. Happy new year
