How can I change my bootsplash image on Qtek2020i???
Desktop Application = nb image converter.
Purpose = use to convert ur .jpg file into a set of splash1.nb and splash2.nb files (the win mobile thingy uses this pic format at bootups).
Copy .nb files to your device /windows directory.
copy BootSplash_Changer.cab to device and run it. lastly please do a soft reset.
done....
thanks

Some phones (not the Alpine as far as I know, though) have two splash images, and show splash1.nb and splash2.nb as they boot - if you look through the forums, some people detail how they've got pictures of their kids or family as the splash images.
The Alpine / 2020i just uses the one though, I believe. I remember creating two different images, but it just showed the first one until it reached Windows and the PIN entry screen.
I see... I used only Alpin so don't know what shows on other...
btw - can I save my current boot picture?
because if something goes wrong - i belive my guarantee would be canceled if they notice I made something with it...
I managed to obtain the original XDA2i splash image from the ROM, and I posted it up on this forum.
I saw it, but I live in Russia, and here is no O2...))
my alpine has picture of Moscow with some numbers at the bottom - some serial number I belive...
If you are very patient, you can strip out the original boot splash logo with a hex editor. It took me a while to get it just right, but it is possible.
Alternatively, if you have the original firmware on your PC or on the web anywhere if you send me a link to it I can try and strip it out.
I believe someone's also in the process of making a program to save the original boot splash, but it's not finished yet.
Excuse me... i downloaded the nb converter but when i run it it says a comdlg32.ocx is missing ?? how to make it run ?? THankzz
Google for the file, put it in the same directory as the .exe and it should work ok.
For those looking for the actual attachment I was talking about earlier, see this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=34359
you guys are a lifesaver
Dunno about the rest of us but I'm always glad to dispense nuggets of advice whenever I can.
If you want to change your 2nd boot screen. Just copy the attached .png picture and paste it into your phones's windows folder. Be sure to copy and paste the one there to somewhere on your computer so you can replace it back if you want to.
Enjoy !!!!!!

You should just have to replace the file in the windows directory. In most ROMs the file is called animated.gif. I have attached a copy of the original logo in the Zip file attached. If you want to change the startup sound, I have attached the original sound file as well. Otherwise, you can do it in the kitchen when you cook your personalized ROM.
Oh yeah, Don't forget to rename the file to the same name as the file already in your windows folder. Tell it to overwrite the file! If it says that it cannot overwrite the file, then the file was locked when cooked, & you're SOL unless you can cook up your own ROM.
it's locked , thanks anyway

You can try using Advanced Configuration tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=418151. It has a setting for changing these.
So i found this but dont know how to get it to work on T-Mobile G1. If any one knows how, can you please help me ?
http://rapidshare.com/files/323951279/Nexus.Sound.rar

Oh, sorry. What im asking is if its possible to get the NexusOne bootscreen on T-Mobile G1 ? The files i provided are the NexusOne bootscreen files that a dude over at some other site put on the web. Though when i apply the files to my phone the way he said it doesnt work. Im wondering if any 1 knew how to get this working on G1 ?

Depends. I'm pretty sure those files are the x sparks that come together, these can only be used in an eclair rom.
bootanimations
you can get the nexus bootanimation or you can make your own. this post has some that i did. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623907
or just extract the zip and edit the images in the part0 folder. they must be .png and must be 320x480. make sure you rename your images to something like 00.png 01.png and so on. then using either winrar or 7zip select both the desc.txt file and the part0 folder and add the to an archive name it something like bootanimation.zip. make sure you set the compression to store. then connetct your phone to the computer and using adb push the zip to the media file in the system. the rest of the instructions are in the other post. this has worked every time for me. just when you want to change the images you must extract them and then make a new .zip or it wont work.
as for the sound i am looking for an answer to that question myself that is the one thing i havent been able to get to work yet.

Mods you can delete this if not useful for any other users.
This tutorial will explain how to make a custom boot animation for your droid eris by replacing the stock verizon wireless animation.
Notes:
- We will be working with .png files so be prepared to convert a video-animation to a series of pngs.
- There are other stock animations such as the HTC one and it may be possible to add another animation onto the end of the verizon wireless one.
1) Create a video animation of 320x480 resolution in Adobe After Effects, another video animating software, or create a series of images for your animation.
2) Convert that video into a series of .png files with the names: 00.png 01.png ... etc ... to 25.png (I have not attempted to use more or less than 25 png files, it may or may not work)
3) Extract the stock bootanimation.zip (provided below) into a working directory, with the following file structure...
- /bootanimation
---- /android -> should contain (00.png -> 03.png) "HTC"
---- /last -> should contain (01.png -> 02.png)
---- /vzw -> should contain (00.png -> 25.png)
---- desc.txt
4) Copy and replace the png files in the vzw folder with the pngs you just created.
5) Choose 2 .png files to be shown after your animation has completed and copy them into your /last directory replacing 01.png and 02.png.
5) Create a new zip file with the folders and desc.txt at root. Make sure to use the Store as the compression method when creating a new zip file. See picture attached to this post.
6) Use adb to send your file to /system/media/bootanimation.zip on your phone.
7) Reboot, and enjoy your fresh boot animation.
I have included my bootanimation.zip as an example. Heres a video of mine:

Really?...
I thought you needed it to mount the system to RW and you can't do this until you have Root?
Also anyone willing to convert this animation from the G1 over to the eris? I really don't know anything about Photoshop or anything like that so I would really appreciate if you would convert these two animations for the eris if its possible.

How? Don't you need ROOT Acess to gain those folders
You need root to copy the zip here: /system/media/bootanimation.zip
but you dont need root to copy it here: /data/local/bootanimation.zip
Do the same steps but change the zip location and it will work.
What if the boot is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY longer than 25?? What do I do

Yea I can vouch that it works I have one that is 250+ and it works fine.
just a tip to help avoid hours of pulling your hair out..not that i did this or anything
zip up the folders within bootanimation folder, not the bootanimation folder and the folders. If you do, you end up with another directory and it won't load.
Please elp me with desc.txt

I see you guys are having good luck loading boot animations and I imagine your are not running as choppy as mine. all I did was replace the .png files from the example_bootanimation, and mine looks like crap. Can someone tell me what you used in your desc.txt file?
THanks
