Would be better to post in the thread from where you got the info don't you think?

if you read the thread where the info was from, you would have found out that some applications uninstall when using this method. I would just set the setting back to 0 and only move applications that acutally support apps2sd.
are you using launcher pro? My launcher pro is doing that for some reason.
It's not an issue with Launcher Pro, it's Froyo and Apps2SD after you reboot they disappear. They're still in your phone because you can open them through market but the icons disappear from the launcher and launcher menu.

Hello,
yesterday I started to move some Apps (around 20) to my SD Card.
On of the apps was "HTC_IME mod" (the keyboard). When I tried to write something now I only had the android keyboard. HTC IME wasn't even in the input settings.
Well, okay, moved it back to phone storage. Still didn't work somehow.. it FC'd.
I reinstalled it and it worked again.
Some minutes later I've seen that 3 Apps aren't in the AppDrawer anymore!
Since I got some of them in a folder on the homescreen I tried to start the apps there. It didn't work! Getting the message "isnt installed on phone" or something like that.
+ All of the apps I moved were shown without the actual app icon but with the default green icon. I tried to start them too and it worked..
I also couldn't move any of them back to the phone storage because the buttons were greyed out and I were only able to uninstall them.
I removed most of the apps without a real icon from the folder and put them back in (Holding them in the AppDrawer and moving into the folder) and did another restart to see if they're without an Icon again or not.
Now the Launcher Force Closed. Couldn't do anything.. (I'm on CM6 and deleted the ADW Launcher and just installed LauncherPro Plus)
Blah blah I connected to USB to get the USB screen (makes the launcher not close anymore) and used the powerstrip app to go the root explorer and reinstall the Launcher. Worked again.
I checked my folder again and I see that all icons are still shown! Yay!
But wait, that can't be true. I did another restart.
Checked the folder and most of the apps are without an icon again (default icon only).
AND I have some apps TWICE in the AppDrawer!!
wtf!? What the hell am I doing wrong?
I just wanted to use the FroYo Apps2SD methode to get some free space on my phone -.-

Another restart fixed it. But it didn't fix the missing icons in the folder and I think it also didn't fix everything what happened before.
+1
Same problem... But i think it may be related to Market Update.
Common problem... have a read of the following:
http://developer.android.com/guide/appendix/install-location.html
http://www.androidguys.com/2010/05/22/storing-apps-sd-froyo/
Also, most reliable results are with stock Froyo Launcher... probably best to use that if you have a lot of apps on SD using Froyo method.
Shameless plug: Kang-o-rama 1.0, which is based on CM6 RC1, is the only CM rom with full apps2ext support. Apps2ext will give you the benefits and none of the pain... see my sig.
Temporary solution
Temporary solution that worked on my N1 is this:

Here some solutions that I and others have posted in the nightly build thread. Go into settings, applications, manage applications, running, adw, then force stop. That brought back the apps icons. The weirdest one I found is to open camera (I then open settings) close camera, and my icons are back. Don't ask me why this works but it does.
Note: All the icons that turn generic are in folders on my home page, including camera.

Oh wth.
I know that the icons were still not shown yesterday morning and during the day I used the camera exactly once.
I just checked the folder on the homescreen and the icons are there .. crazy
Bump!
anyone with the same problems but other solutions?
This is a common and known issue with custom launchers (like LauncherPro you're running) and Froyo's Apps2SD. Plus, it's a known limitation - widgets/keyboards/system service apps/etc can't be moved to SD and keep working reliably. Cyanogen enables the option, but it doesn't say you can use it on everything.
There are no solutions, and it's very well possible that there won't ever be any.
My nexus is rebooting by it self, after it reboots. My widgets disappear. Also when press the home it automatically goes to ADW.launcher. After originally chose LauncherPro as my default. How do i fix this? It's very annoying placing widgets back on my homes screens.
Don't move the apps with widgets to SD.
Or use Apps2EXT instead of Froyo's built in Apps2SD.
Go into application settings for adw launcher and clear defaults. The next time you hit the home button you should get a pop up where you can select the default app.
Launched pro was on my sd card. Don't remember doing that, but anyhow I moved it back to my phone and i'm no longer experiencing that problem. Thank you for your help. The ppl and XDA forums ARE THE BEST!

Lately I've LP has been freezing on me in a few moments after boot, basically after media scanning is done my UI is frozen and I need to bring up task manager to close out LP and exit out of task manager and it runs fine again, anyone know whats causing this?
it happens i think. i remember just installing chompsms and it's been happening since. switched to handcent and the problem's not there anymore.
maybe some application is causing it on your end?
I have the same problem! No matter what I do, Launcher Pro freezes after booting up, I have to close & re-open!
I had the same problem no matter what setup I used on my phone, even did it straight after a clean factory reset. Gave up with it in the end and am using Zeam Launcher now, very quick and responsive although I do miss the LP widgets
Found a fix, its caused by the .andriod secure folder on the EXTERNAL SD.. delete all the contents from there and mark the folder as READ ONLY and reinstall your apps that were there w/o the EXTERNAL SD card to guarantee they dont come back.
100% fixed on my end!

Ain't that the folder used by apps 2 sd? I would rather put up with fc in lp then screw with app 2 sd.

I dont even use app 2 sd in the first place.
I still have thouse hangs at bootup, sometimes goes fine, sometimes it is needed to be closed. I had this folder on my external sd, the folder is empty. Read and Write flags are off
Any other suggestion?
I have same problem... +1
it looks like its an actual error with the app itself, i have had this problem lots of times, i did a full wipe and only installed launcher pro, nothing else, the only 1 app i had on the phone was launcher pro and it still froze.
i just went to ADW launcher, i like it alot and you can resize widgets and stuff, very customisable..
2nd favourite is zeam, would be my number one but i couldnt figure out how to save the settings... theres a wide range of other launchers why not try something else ??
my LP does that as well on my vibrant. it really isn't that big of a deal, unless you repeatedly reboot your phone...
just wait a little while after your phone boots and just let everything load up
Yes, we can try another launcher, but launcherpro is best for me, because I want grid 5x6 icons. Go launcher is great as well, but there is max 5x5 :/
Not sure if this is a symptom of Cyanogenmod nightly or something else, but I can no longer add new widgets. I have downloaded quite a few but they don't show up in the widget list when I go to add a new widget. All the default ones are there.
I know the widgets are installed because they show as installed in the application manager and market app. In the market app if I go to my downloads the app is listed as installed and if I click on it and then go "open" it opens the screen that says "this is a widget, please add it to your homescreen by long pressing the background" message that some widgets have.
But when I go to add them, they just dont appear in the list. It's the same with many different launchers. Any thoughts?
Some widgets will not show up in the list if they are installed on the SD card. If they're installed there, just move the apps to the phone.
Great. Solved the problem, thanks for that. Should have though of it myself I guess.
I'm guessing that Cyangoenmod defaults to installing to SD card because I never set that. I have switched it back to defaulting to internal memory now.
hi
i apologize before hand with the nature of this question but its been bugging me for sometime now since i got the i9000m...
the issue:
every time power down (shut off) my i9000m, it seems to forget my rearranged settings on my app screen.. as in when i organize my apps to the way i want it and then shut my phone off it goes settings are all jumble and i have to rearrange my apps again... i dont get why its not saving even after pressing save after im done organizing my apps..
is there a fix to this?
my phone is rooted and running stock froyo from bell...
any help would be appreciated.. thanks
do you use the stock touchwiz launcher? i have the same issue but with go launcher.
Had same issue before.
Check if apps are installed on phone (not SD).
The SGS reads the SD card at startup and apps installed ther go to the end of each page in the app drawer.
