I think my SD card died? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, so I was going to change the settings on my beautiful weather widget, and my phone froze up. Rebooted and it got stuck on the nexus logo. So I reboot into recovery and clear cache, and reboot. Same thing. I then tried to restore a nand backup, and it restores everything except it gets stuck on restoring the sd-ext. So I throw in my extra card and the phone boots up. So now I have my sd in my laptop and I can see all the files just fine, but when I try to copy anything, it says "an error is preventing this file from being copied at this time". Is this a dead sd card? Odd that I can see all the files, with correct files sizes, etc, it just won't copy any of them. Anyone got any ideas on how I could grab the files off it if possible? If not I guess I could live with formatting it, but I'd rather not. I think the problem is in the sd-ext though, any way to format that? I tried through recovery and it just keeps freezing up.
thanks in advance.

Wierd Problems

Ok so I rooted my phone as well as partinoned my SD card (I have an 8 GB now) a while back and now I am having problems with my SD card. The other day my phone gave me a message saying that my Sd card was not supported and that I needed to format it. Stupid me I did that on my computer and wiped everything of of it. My friend who also has a rooted G1 got my phone to restore the CM but now everything is saving to my phone again. I tried to part it again and it says that nothing is found. Any ideas on what I did and what I can do to get everything back to the way it was when it was working correctly?
Also my phone started doing this other weird thing where I'm viewing anything and im scrolling through whatever the screen timesout eventhough I'm touching it. Anything to help with this aswell?
Thank you guys so much for the help!
I lost ya when you said you tried to part it again but nothing is found. Did you partition the card and no apps are found or you couldn't partition the card.
I tried to partition the card again but there was no data found and I couldn't partition it.
If you can't even partition it then you have a bad card brother. The strange behavior could be a symptom of the ext partition failing. I'm assuming you have a swap partition but don't actually use it with a user.conf file otherwise a failing card would cause your phone to completely freeze.

[Q] Resetting CM9 nightly to "factory" condition

I installed the latest CM9 nightly, and so far everything was more or less running smoothly... but I didn't realize the 50+ apps on SD bug was still present. No matter what I tired, I Was not able to do anything about this annoying mess. So I just chose to do a factory reset, then rebooted into webos and deleted everything in .android_secure.
However, when I booted back into Android, I found out that NOTHING got reset. All my settings, internal memory apps, etc are still there!
Is there any way to do a complete reset on CM9 and put it in a state as if I had just freshly installed it short of literally uninstalling and reinstalling it?

Aall, you have to do is a factory reset in clockwork mod....
You will also have to finish off the 3 finger method by wiping cache and dalvik cache, that should do it
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
Choosing "Reboot into Recovery" just reboots back into moboot, not clockwork. Pressing power+volup also sends me into WebOS recovery. There is no clockwork or android recovery option in moboot.
I don't see a way to enter clockwork.

If you dont see the option for clockworkmod in moboot, then it didnt install when you did the instal process. Most likely (because I think a lot of people are doing this) you downloaded the wrong Clockwork Recovery. You probably downloaded one that was named "recovery-tenderloin......" or something like that. You need the one that startes with "update......" I dont know the actual names. But when you get it, you can just use ACMEinstaller again, just like you did before to install it.

I was wondering why the ACMEInstaller2 deleted all the other zips but left the Clockwork one in the cminstall folder.
So is it safe to run the ACMEInstaller2 with only the clockword zip in the cminstall folder? It won't mess up anything else or complain that the CM file is missing? Or do I need to do an uninstall and reinstall again?
By the way, I have been meaning to ask. I know that the "sd card" is internal memory that both WebOS and Android share as a media folder, but if I choose to reformat/reset the SD card from within Android, will that delete anything from WebOS? I know it won't mess with WebOS itself or it's settings, but would it remove any of the music, videos, downloaded files, or anything else that was put there through WebOS? I don't know if deleting the contents of the .android_secure folder were enough to "reset" my CM9 install, or at least anything it put on the SD card. Is there a way to just delete anything only Android/CM9 put on the SD card partition and not anything WebOS or it's apps put there?

It left clockwork mod there because it didnt install. It installed everything else. Delete the old one you had in your cminstall folder and put the new one there and just run ACMEinstaller like you did before. You dont need to have the other stuff in the folder. Just the clockwork mod. You will be fine. Once its done you should see Clockwork Mod in moboot.
As far as the sd card, yes, anything you delete in Android on the sd card will be deleted on webOS as well and visa versa. What are you wanting to "reset"? You can do a factory reset after you get clockwork mod on there.

Milestone reboots on attempt to boot to Recovery

So yesterday I grabbed a copy of OpenRecovery from the cyanogenmod4android Google Code page and unzipped it, threw it onto my Milestone's SD card, rebooted into recovery.
It restarted when the bootloader (or whatever) finished loading the update.zip. I thought it was a bad .zip, and so I re-downloaded, and unzipped it to the SD card. Nothing changed.
I decided "Meh, use now, fiddle later." and let it reboot, sat it down and went back to looking up things to do with my HTC G2.
A minute or so goes by and I notice it hasn't done its normal boot-up vibration. (It's always done that. Pretty sure it's the "Checking SD card for errors" notification.) I pick it up and see that it's rebooting after about 3 seconds at the Motorola logo. What happened? D:
Use this recovery, it's the most advanced one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1091787
Download the "Minimod V0.23.zip" and extract it to your SD card.
You should then have a folder called "OpenRecovery" and the "update.zip" file in the root directory of your SD card.
Do not unzip the "update.zip"
Furthermore you need to flash a vulnerable recovery first.
It's all in here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=698059
If your phone is stuck in a bootloop then I honestly don't know how that could have happened.
If there's no important data on the phone you could try factory resetting it.
If this doesn't help you'll have to reflash the ROM.
Guess I should've come back sooner...

Well, I powered it on a few more times, and it booted. Works normally apart from the OR issue. I already flashed the vulnerability from the guy who maintains(ed?) the Google Code page, and I've used the same OpenRecovery before, only that was with a different SD card. (Which I formatted and stuck in my HTC Vision without backing up, being an idiot)
I'll try out this one you linked me, and see what happens.
You can also try formatting that new SD card with the SD Formatter tool (link's in my signature)

Bricked Bionic help needed!

So just a quick run down of the what happened. I am rooted with safestrap. I had the slimkat rom installed and I have a nandroid backup of my slimkat rom and stock rom.
I tried to use the app called internal to external to swap my internal and external sd so I would have more room (stupid because I didn't know what I was doing). First I copied all the files from my internal storage to the external sd per instructions including the safestrap files(Probably part of my problem). Then for those familiar with the app I selected the sdcard and sdcard-ext for the first two options and sys/dev/block/179:97 for the third option where it says select the sdcard at the system level. For the mount option I had unmask=0000.
Anyway I hit the swap button and not much changed. I checked storage and it showed that the internal storage was clear but it still only said 2gb were available. I then rebooted and it was stuck in a boot loop. Its pretty messed up no but with much playing I can still sometimes get into safestrap, but when I look in the rom slots it says there is 0 space available internal. I have tried to do wipes but it says it can't wipe cache. Right now it is active under slot 1 but if I try to activate any others it crashes. I tried to restore my nandroid but it fails. I can still move files in file manager though.
Is there anything I can do that might help? And would restoring with rsd lite even help at this point? Thanks for any ideas!
Ok so it a crazy turn of events it actually booted to stock jb and is still rooted but it is still pretty messed up. In files it says that the internal has 0 free space but I can still open it and see its files. It won't save pictures because it says no space is available. See pictures. I am going to try to leave it on so it might be a little easier to work on the files. Is there a way to unflip what ever I flipped with that app?
So with it booted back up I installed the external to internal app again and played with it some more. At first I had though I had made it worse because it said the SD card was the internal and the external. But I rebooted it and after a series of wipes and restore attemps I was able to restore my stock and slimkat backups. Everything looks good except I has a flashboot error every time I reboot but I think I might have found the a way to fix that also. Thank you Lord!

XT890 Data loss? HELP!!!!! PLease!

I can't believe this.
The same crap happened to me on a second XT890. I'm lost for words.
here is what happened.:
Got a phonecall, when I wanted to pick it up the phone would turn off saying not enough power, at 30 % !!???
Ok, so no big deal I thought,...turned it back on, had the same person calling me, everything was fine. Then i noticed the stored mms images would not load inside the conversations. Si turned the phone off and on again, mms images are loading again.
Got another phone call and my personal ringtone, gone, no longer there. Couldn't even switch it back even though the file, supposedly was there. Then I tried to play the file, google play music would not.
Next, all my images are gone, no longer folders of the camera and images and videos. Using quickoffice , that app says, no files on the internal sd card! WTF!?
Turning the phone off an on again, let me see the files on the card again, even let me play an audio file, going in and out of the folder, the files disappeared again.
So long story short. Everything seems to work except my files are gone and quickoffice and fileviewers won't find the files. When i put in an external sd card that works fine on other devices, it won't load the files, images, videos, only maybe 3 of 100!? What the hell.
This is the second time on a different phone but same model this has happened.
I can't afford to loose the images and recordings. are they gone? what has happened? I ran DR Fone recovery, and even that won't find the images i need,
Phone is rooted. And it's driving me nuts. Battery was replaced 6 months ago, everything was fine. Now that.
Please help, need my files, desperately.
What could have caused this? ? What is not working properly? Indexing? Gallery? Quickoffice?
Could be a corruption in the data
" corruption on your internal memory
" corruption on the system partition or dalvik
See if adb can find the files on your internal sdcard. With the command: adb shell ls /storage/sdcard0/[path to video/photo]
Thanks will try.!
In the meantime Root Browser shows the sd card as empty, and last time changed as 8/5/12 which was the build date of the phone.... :-/
Funky, When hooking up for adb and running a command the files and sd card became visible. So while visible I was able to safe all the files to external card. When restarting the phone the internal sd and files disappeared again. I cleared cache and dalvik and media storage, no effect. files remain hidden. Running sd maid it says system files are hidden. using es file explorer running showing hidden files i get a no permission response. same for sd card, says no permission. so something is blocking me. virus? i don't really use wlan or internet, wondering how to get everything working again. files and everything is there, but i have no access.
Still looks like a corruption somewhere. I should just safe all files that u need, backup data and do a full system restore and start over. With full I mean also a internal memory wipe.
Maybe there is a much better option, but I don't know any atm.
Still fiddling with it. Thought I just do a factory reset. Well didn't work.
Somehow before I did the reset the media store app was moved to sd card and a different apk was placed in system / app folder.
After the restart you guessed it, all data was gone as expected. Gallery and ringtones and video, and so on won't show. The media storage apk is in system/app folder, but it won't show under settings/apps/all.....
Not being an expert I think I messed this up by switching out the apks,.../
The one now in the system folder is: version 4.04-1351904261 but I need version 4.04-1344118159
Who can tell me where i can find one?
