HTC HD2 Housing Frame utterly scratched! - HD2 Accessories

I have always been very protective of my telephone, but today my HTC fell while riding a bike. Luckily (!) there are only scratches all over the back of the casing, and I want this repaired or restored.
http://cgi.ebay.nl/for-HTC-HD2-HD-2...ies_MobilePhoneFascias_JN&hash=item439f8d81b4
Would you guys recommend this to me? I am pretty handy myself, but I am not sure of the quality of this. Is it the same or better then the original? Has someone else repaired there HTC HD2 this way?
Thanks, Roy KW

It looks alright, comes with tools so I imagine will come with a good set of instructions. Looks better then a scratched one I'm guessing, I say go for it

Chrome HTC HD2
I would advise using some good precision polishing and sanding tools to Chrom-ify your HTC hD2 as this guy has done here.
hXXp://blog.whitesites.com/Chrome-HTC-HD2-Battery-Cover-Tutorial__634103488469591250_blog.htm
Except rather than for the back housing for the whole phone.

I would advise to buy retail parts (If availble), these replicas are bad quality , doesnt fit 100% and waste of your money

This looks promising, I'm tempted to get it, but have no idea of how to fit it.

Precut touchscreen protectors?

I like the precut screen protector that comes with the Touch in the box but you only get one . After a while that one gets a bit beat up so I want to replace it but I could never cut one as well as that one was. Id love to buy a place where I could buy them, even in a pack of 10 (girlfriend has the touch too) to replace them from time to time.
Anyone know where to get them precut to fit?
Screen Protectors
Telus in Canada sells them but they are a bit pricey. They appear to be $9.99 ea. Check it out here:
http://telusmobility.ca/ns/pcs/acc_htc_p3050.shtml
So hopefully someone knows where to get them at a better price! This is the kind of price you had to pay for a screen protector for my Sony Clie when I first got it but they eventually came down dramatically.
Pete
Those dont appear to be the shape of the entire plastic screen, just the lit part.
I emailed HTC and they gave me a number to call the parts center in the US to ask about getting them.
Here are a couple of places I found that look to be custom cut. One is a bit pricey though...

I'm going with the crystal touch anti-glare from Boxwave. I'll let you know how it does once it gets to me.
No kidding
http://www.expansys-usa.com/p.aspx?i=147580 is expensive... almost 35$...
At least you get 5 of them. But still...

hey wait before you order! just so you guys know, they elf and vogue's screen sizes are supposedly slightly different.
i ordered the "HTC Touch" screen protectors from boxwave about 2 months ago, thinking, hey, mine is a touch, and its by HTC. well, they didnt fit. boxwave was great about it, and are letting my exchange, but just MAKE SURE you get the Sprint Touch screen protectors.
like i said, they would probably be good about it, but it would just save ya some hassle.
cheers.
Thanks for the heads up Jim!

really kills the clarity of the screen though doesnt it? very similar to if it were...maybe a little bit wet? everything is unclear/smudged...i dont really know how to explain it (obviously) lol
i went with MartinFields... i couldn't be happier.
I've used Boxwave screens before and they are excellent quality. I had one on my Treo650 forever and it held up wonderfully. I just put the one on for the Sprint Touch and the only negative thing I can say is that it's reduced the sensativity a bit. I'm going to try this reg edit for sensitivity found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=360564
What about the invisibleshield, looks like they have screen and full-body. Anybody use these before? Are they worth the price?
Im going for invisible sheild cant give a reveiw yet but when the time comes that I get it I will let you all know. (dont wait for me however s I don't really work... therefire getting paid and being able to afford any purchase are both rarities...

Expensive but the worth it
You gotta go with clear protector.
Full body for 15$ on ebay.
The best there is and you only need one.
I try clear protector from eBay, it is the worse ever, I won't wast my money on that again.

Recommend a cheapo screen protector on ebay (1-3$)

I am looking for a cheapo 2-3 pack protectors from ebay, that will maintain the gloss of the HD2, be bubble free and easy to apply, and fit the HD2.
If anyone got something reasonable recently, can you please shoot me a link to the product page or seller ?
It's important that it will be a 2-5 pack or something because I always mess up the first few ones trying to apply that thing
This may not be the answer you're looking for, but most of the cheapo screen protectors are useless. They are much harder to lay down bubble free and they don't last very long from my experience with them. I suggest you spend around $10. and get a Vikuiti screen protector for your HD2. It lays down very easily and bubble free if you are careful and do the job in a dust free environment like the bathroom after running the shower for a few minutes.
You will likely end up spending less money in the long run and having less frustration. You will also enjoy a better look and feel on your lovely 4.3 inch screen.

I am sorry, should have researched b/f posting: but some liked it and one guy said it was, "Frickin' Fantastic". it is the only one i have found that looks almost identical to the "Vikuiti", except for the 2 small knotches in the upper left hand corner. and it is easily available in the States. Would love 2 know what u think, good thing is htc will make right if it is bad - with no problem. wonder if it is a 3m. Product

Well, the protector is here and I just applied it to my US HD2
It fits PERFECTLY, has 2 small holes for the sensors, and goes around the hark keys.
There was almost ZERO difference in color and visibility between the naked HD2 and the HTC Original protector, so very good job on that.
Hand movement is great and smooth..
No complaints at all.
Got a couple for 6 dollars.

I ordered mine last week sometime, I kept forgetting to post the link (non-affiliated link iirc).
Thank you for the link! 2.85 dollars for that protection is a very nice price! Bought a Copter Display Shield (same type as StealthGuard) for about 35 bucks in Sweden ...
Thanks a bunch, just got my Milestone protector for €2,22
Thx i get mine too i hope they will delivering me in France !

Just ordered to Denmark, sounds like a great deal. I had an InvisibleShield for my Magic, which I wasn't that pleased with. It fell off rather quick and got black-ish instead of see-through. Lets see how this stuff works on a Legend.
can someone tell me why I would need such a thing? The legend is housed in aluminum already, and I highly doubt it could be scratched. I could understand if someone is using this just for the screen protector, but still, there are ones that cost less on ebay...

Everything scratches, and if you plan on selling your phone after you have upgraded in the future, it will still look brand new if you had a product like this on it.
Scratched it already, happens easier then you'd think!
Ordered one. Heared from people that you have to use a lot of water to install them properly, and that they have a very rubbery feel. But hey they are nearly free...
Sent from my HTC Legend using Tapatalk
I got mine yesterday.
Yes, these really feel rubbery as the plastic is fairly thick.
The really anoying thing is that the side pieces go all the way from the top to the plastic piece on the bottom therefore you can't open it, or, you can cut it like I did
Overall it's a good product for the price (muhahah).
Not worth the postage fee to be honest
Very thick - bends when trying to remove them from the paper they come on, and a nightmare to install - What more do you expect for free? lol
Got mine yesterday and I must say that I'm very happy with them. Installation is like on every protector with liquid...I must say that they are definitely better than the zagg ones witch were I nightmare for me to install on my girlfriends iPhone. All you need is PATIENCE and lot (and I mean a lot) of water! I've put water in a bowl with 2 drops of dish washing liquid, then make your fingers wet and take the protector slowly off it's paper (it's easier with wet fingers), and then put the whole protector in the water, let it drip off(not completely), apply and patiently wait 6 ours or use a hair dryer to get it done quicker (but you will still have to wait after). With the part's that include bending you should do the flat part and wait until it starts to stick, and then bend the other parts.

[Open Thread] Thoughts On Otterbox Case For EVO Shift 4G

So I just wanted to start a thread for myself and anyone else who may want to read it
Basically anyone who has an otterbox case for the evo shift or has seen/used it or whatever just leave your opinions/reviews whatever. I am thinking of buying one so just wondering
I don't have one for the Shift but I've used an Otterbox on other devices and would recommend it if you have the slightest fear of damaging your handset.
I believe the last one I used was a Commuter which completely encased the handset and seemed to be able to take a hit. The back was too smooth for me so I had a little trouble re-learning how to hold it and the thickness of the handset increased significantly but overall it felt safe. Worth the extra money.
I am using the otterbox commuter case on my shift right now. I like it a lot. The fit and finish seems like it is completely a part of the phone. Only two complaints are:
1. If I try to move an icon from one hone screen to another, the piece covering the screen makes it difficult to move it to the "edge" - not a big deal, you learn to adjust.
2. When opening the slider, I hear a click sound, sounding like the little tabs holding the upper piece on are catching as it moves. Again, kinda not picky.
All in all, I think it is a great case and makes me worry a lot less about dropping my device. I would definitely recommend it.

Awesome seems like ill want to pick it up. I recently cracked the screen on my shift and made a few scuff marks so that's what seriously turned me to getting the case.

Tip for putting on the included screen protector...patience and a clean work surface! I couldn't get it to work well at first, then I ended up dropping it on the carpet. I was ready to give up on it until my wife took it from me and got it to work. So...if you have the patience of an ADHD kid on meth like I do...lol. It was my first screen protector too so. Anyways have fun!

definitely worth getting. i have the commuter series otterbox and it makes my phone look and feel like a beast. only thing that annoys me sometimes is the dust/lint that gets stuck to the rubber on the case, but i just blow it off.

I haven't had a problem opening the slider at all.
I have one and love it! Top of the line case, looks good feels good and protects good! I would totally recommend it to anyone with a Shift!..
I use it on my shift, and have had them on two other phones. Like everyone else said, its a great case, and really does look like a part of the phone.

I'm now on my second otterbox after a free factory replacement, my only nit pics are the usb port cover doesn't stay closed, and it clicks everytime I open it, feels like one of the clips is catching....
Sent from my MiuiSpeedy
Just got the Commuter series and I'm a fan so far. Makes the phone feel more substantial and gives a better grip. The only issue was with the headphone and USB port covers, which didn't stay down. I just removed them, but DON'T Rip them off, it'll tear the rubber casing. Found that out on the USB port one so I cut the headphone one off. Either way makes the rubber a little loose around the port but not hugely annoying unless you're a perfectionist(which I can be). I'll just apply a little glue and seat it on the plastic frame.
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA App
Thanks for the answers guys! I'm definently going to pick one up in a couple days.
I do want to keep this thread open just so anyone can ask questions/leave other reviews for other people.

Nope I can confirm that, being really careful you can take the back without any problem..
I Think that the front parts being hard to take off it's a good thing.
Had mine for 2 or 3 months now
Bought it from Amazon for like $25 when they finally came available for the shift and had to wait a month before I got it in hand.
I'm not as impressed as i would be with the protection if it was a defender case. I had the black case with fake carbon fiber and belt clip before. The otterbox commuter is better then that one, by how much I'm not sure.
I dropped my phone about a month ago. I don't know if it just hit the right place of the case, and the back case came flying off the phone, the side clips where busted off, so the back case would not stay on any more.
I decided to call up otterbox and see if it was under warr. and if they would replace it. AMAZINGLY they said YES so they shipped me a new one for free i didn't even have to pay shipping. NICE. It was quick and easy I thought that was soooo cool. Because of that i will continue to buy otterbox, and recommend them to others.
In future i hope to buy defender cases (better protection) which means no more slider phones which i think i am ready for now that touch screens are so much better. All my old phones have been sliders with full keyboards from back in the day with my old HTC t-mobile MDA, which made me find this site.
Thats my 2 cents.

The Absolute Best

Hey guys, I since Christmas is coming up soon I wanted to add the most expensive (best, in most cases) items to my wish list. I am asking for your help for some accessories for my Desire 816.
If you're going to post can you please provide a link to an item that you're talking about (like either the main website for it or the specs of it.)
The items I'm looking for are: Charger, Case, Screen Protector, and a 64 GB microSD.
THANKS SO MUCH!
For charger I recommend you use this one. I have 4 and use them on all my devices. Amazon
I don't use a case, I use a carbon fiber skin, just to prevent my phone getting scratched because I like to preserve the beauty of it. And it helps a lot with that ugly plastic back. Look into it if you want but I won't force anything on you. Amazon
If you want the best screen protector, I'd recommend a tempered glass one, like THIS.
Buuut that's not the one I have. I use a still very high quality IQ Shield. It's still one of the best and has a lifetime replacement guarantee. Amazon
As far as Micro SD card, THIS is the standard, and best one. I use the same one, however I only use a 32gb one as that is adequite for me. Amazon
Hope I helped, and have a great Christmas!

Helpful as always, and I have the IQ Shield right now but it's really getting on my nerves because there are these little bumps under it so my OCD is kicking in and I'm about to throw my phone in the trash. I like the charger specs, but I was looking for like a very good quality wall charger (like the box, but still gonna get that cord it's beautiful) . I think I might get that tempered glass you recommended, too. Also thanks for the microSD. That skinomi thing looks interesting, too. I was contemplating between a case or screen protector because I didn't want both so I might just get that with the tempered glass. And I hope you have a great Christmas!
