I have been looking all over the internet but can't seem to find any way to change the opacity/transparency of the start menu bar and soft key bars for my ATT Tilt with the HTC shipped rom installed. Is this even possible? I'm sure it can't be too hard? Someone please help if you know any way to change this feature.
Me too! Anyone??
Try wisbar advanced3 and desktop. You can't make them transparent but you can make any skin for them that matches your today wallpaper. www.lakeridgesoftware.com
i believe it's theme dependent. Some themes have transperent start menus. Find a theme creator and modify your current theme. Certain programs, maybe someone out there can recommend.
Well.. I have been using ThemeGenCE to create my own themes for a while and it's really good...
http://babelfish.altavista.com/babe...com/telechargements/themegence/themegence.htm
you may also want to try the original theme generator V2...it's made by Microsoft... but it's for older OS.... anyway, it should work for you if you want to make a transparent start menu...
as for the soft keys and the navigation bar (the one that has clock, start button..etc)... I believe you have to use WiseBar Advanced3
cheers

Transparency is not allowed in TSK !
But you can have a start menu that mimics the transparency. Take the same image for start menu than today menu and apply a transparency on it with a uniform background.
That can be done in ThemeGenCE in Images options tab.
Select there the 2nd tab : transparency
Check Transparency and adapt the transparency level.

That's what I meant... thanks for the clarification mate
I just realized when testing this, that there is a small bug in ThemeGenCE v2.5 in the images option tab !
In the tabs 2, 3, 4 of Options Tab the colors of the little panels for choosing colors are not updated on the form when you change the colors (but updated in the program for use !). I have made these panels with ParentBackground = true instead false ! So they are not repaint. But correct colors will be used by the program.
Will be updated in a future version of ThemeGenCE (if a new one ...) !
im sorry does anybody know how to change the taskbar icons? if so, can u plz help me thxs!
It depends on what you referring to as your taskbar
If you mean the lower quick keys then it would depend on what launcher you are using. Launcher pro gives you the option to use Icon packs to customize the launcher keys.
If you mean all the icons then bettercut allows you to change icons/names and several other options on your screen.

MetaMorph allows you to apply "themes", some of the themes available in these forums are designed to just change the look of the top-bar. Look around and you will probably find something you like.
On a side note, you have to root your phone to use MetaMorph.

Meta morph is what you need. Check out the theme forum and all the icons you could ever want are there inside the different themes you download.

I have a tranperent image which I would like to keep as my background for my lockscreen. By default colour of the lockscreen is black. Is there a way to make it transperent or at least change the background colour of the lockscreen?
Ask in the correct section! We have a Topaz Q&A Forum for a reason!
Moved your thread to Topaz Q & A.

It depends on what ROM you're on. Newer ROMs have Lockscreen Wallpaper selection under Settings Tab\Personalize.

I do have that option but it only allow's me to set the image as a wallpaper. But the image that i have is transperent and if i set this image as my wallpaper in the lockscreen, it takes the background colour of the lockscreen which is black. I want to change this colour or rather make it transperent so that my background becomes my today screen.
Anybody with a solution?
I think you would have to develop your own lockscreen.
You could take an existing one and decompile it and see if you can tweak the files.

Basically, you take a lockscreen cab file (search for "Dusk" or "Hashuan" Lockscreen or just lockscreen for your WM version), open the cab using cab programs such as WinCE Cab manager and extract the files. Once you have extracted the files you can browse for the png, bmp or jpgs that tweak them to whatever you want. One issue you may find is that (AFAIK) only jpgs will support transparency so if you find that the background image is in another format, it won't work.
Its a good idea to install the lockscreen first so you know what's what in the image files and also retain the original file names and structure to ensure continuity.
....or, you can just ask a developer (prob w/ a small donation) to make one for you if it's even possible...
i hate that the right button is dedicated to enter the personalize screen when i can get there from a long press on the screen or with the menu button. is there anyway to change this to a messaging button or browser button or anything more useful?
i guess not w/o rooting the phone but after that... sky's the limit right??

Were these Sense skins or just another launcher with a Sense theme? I know alot of Launchers on the market have customizable keys at the bottom.
I was looking for the same thing the other day. Can't believe this isn't just a standard option.

Ok, thats why I asked. I was 99% sure you couldn't change the links in Sense.
You'll have to wait for modified rosie apks to emerge (or flashable themes that do the modifying for you)
I know it's a noob question but i can't find any answers.
I installed CyanogenMod 7 but i can't change theme, what I mean is , I apply theme using theme chooser but the dockbar on the bottom doesn't change ;(.Can anyone help me , please
Reboot

i did reboot
maybe i should record it via camera and u'll know what i did wrong?
You said dockbar. Ofcourse it won't change.
You need to manually change the dock and the icons.
The dockbar won't change. The icons of the regularly used items, if present in Dockbar, may change. Further you will have to edit each icon individually with an icon from the custom sets.
i saw some videos that when people applied theme it changed everything?
So how can i make my phone look like this? any instructions?

Like what we said above. You need to manually replace the dock.
See my attachment below and download the dock image.
What launcher are you using?
As for the icons, you have to get the icon pack and use desktop visualiser.
The font used is neuropol x free. Get the .ttf file.
You can apply it using a font changer, download it from the market.
im using adw launcher ex, can you tell me how to change the dock etc.?

The theme only replaces certain things. Like the statusbar and other applications in the phone. It can't replace the docks for you because its part of the launcher.
Preferences - Themes - Dock background - custom
