Full wipe/format sd card... Will I retain paid apps? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Looking to go from kang o rama with 5.0.6 to the new vanilla cyanogen. I think I'm going to full wipe (obviously), but also format the sd card. I have several paid apps. Does the market remember that you have paid on a totally clean install? I obviously don't want to rebuy the apps...

I was using data2ext4 from TGF and I never lost something from it even if I've flashed alot of nightlies. The point is that, flashing a new ROM does not wipe data2ext partition (only if you format it yourself). So if you don't wipe before everything should be preserved including data2ext. Eventualy you should re-enable data2ext by using ADB command : "data2ext --enable".
What I usually do is just flash the new ROM, flash after that TGF's script and when I boot I have data2ext4 active and all content is there. If you use a different data2ext then I don't know. You should ask the developer of that
What's the best way to get unlimited app storage on Cyanogen 7.1?
I'm using S2E and it seems to work well, but I don't know if it's the best or fastest way.
is there something better?
For me it's a bit slower than [ROM][RC4b][10.09.2011] Gingerbread 2.3.3 with HTC Sense 2.1+...

Rc4b commes pre-overclocked, did you overclock cm7.1 to match clockspeeds of rc4b before testing?
Sent from my Legend using XDA App
Hi Im using the older version - not RC4 - sorry.
It's manually clocked down to 600MhZ with setcpu.
I'm sure it needs some tweaks - I'll give it another try. It's cool that it's possible to easily switch between the OSses -thanks to Clockwork Mod! ;-)

Hi,
Sorry about that coz I am quite new on android and juz bought a cheap second hand legend phone...
I had installed this ROM and the speed is quite smooth...but when I launch the android market, it says that I need to add an account to the device to continue...then, I proceed to go to Account under Settings to add my gmail account but it only allows me to add an Exchange account only...is there anyway for me to add my gmail account?
Thanks.

I has something troubles with any Twitter apps on this version of CM. After installation any app (twidroyd, ubersocial, native twitter etc.) couldn't connect to twitter server. Actually twitter working properly by the internet browser (standard).
P.S. CM 7.1 was been installed without gapps package over the previous stable. Still Android market is working OK

Install CM7.1 WITH wiping data/factory, then your problem should be gone
Some details. I has nandroid backup of my user data All required operations (and maybe more than) was been done: wipe all data n factory reset, wipe dalvik n battery stats. After installation I try to restore user data from nandroid backup, but unfortunately something looks like wrong. I have been compelled to reset all to factory defaults and restore all my data manually. Twitter apps still not starting on my clear system. I am

[Q] Youtube/ Netflix on remics-Jb 3.0

Hey so I flashed remics-JB 3.0 on my captivate and the youtube and netflix apps don't load their videos, they just load infinitely .
I'd ask on the development page (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1625619) but I don't have enough posts to reply to the thread
so yeah, any idea on how to fix?

I am not running this rom so I may be no help at all, but did you restore your apps with data using titanium backup? If so first go into settings>apps>all and clear data on both apps. Then see if it works. Alternately try doing a clean flash and install those two apps from the playstore (if you used a backup before) and see if that helps.

[Q] What am I supposed to have with a fresh install of CM9 nightly w/4-29-12 Gapps?

I installed the latest nightly from last night (CM9 12-12-12), the Gapps package from 4-29-12, and the Gapps fixer. I have things like Play store, GTalk, and Voice Dialer, bot no GMail, Maps, Youtube, etc. Am I supposed to have those too? I keep searching and it's not easy to find a list that I know specifically pertains to the TouchPad's CM9 implementation.

But download what, exactly? I'm only thinking of those off the top of my head but I know that there are a lot more. The problem is, I need a list if I'm going to do that as a work-around and so that's partially what I'm asking for (that or help getting the Gapps package to install completely). The Gapps fix does nothing no matter what I wipe or what order I flash.
I checked with my brother and he did not download those from the market/Play store on his touchpad. Neither did I, and I was the one who put Goo manager on it. I'm trying to set this up for a coworker with all the apps as if it were the first time ever turned on and I don't want my account loaded on it.
I already knew I could download individual apps from the market. Thanks for your help though.

Those apps aren't included in the ics gapps. If you open up the zip file and look in the /system/app folder you'll see what apks are included in the gapps package.

i have cm9 (latest nightlys) and cm10 (latest nightlys) .. IIRC they both are 1212 builds..
for cm9 i had to install 0429 gapps..
for cm10 i used the JB gapps but i dont exactly remr the build date or name..
good probabilities that it was 4.1
im pretty sure that both roms require separate installs of gapps..because no gapps are built in

I dont get what you are looking for. If you have the Play store and were able to sign into your account then you have everything the Gapps offer. Gapps are mainly Google services that let you sign into your Gmail account, sync your Gmail account, Use the Play store, etc. There are some apps within the Gapps file which are system apps but like others have said, everything else you mentioned is in the play store. Gapps don't include those apps.

[Q] How to login Google Account without gapps?

Greetings XDA community,
I'm looking for an answer to login my google account without installing gapps. Because when I install szeszo's custom rom it's okay. But after installing the gapps, it uses all system storage + 700 MB internal. Also it creates a new folder in system as priv-app and most of applications seem that cloned to this folder for 4.4.4 gapps. I hate this. Because I update any application but there are lots of same application. All of these things drill my battery. I'm looking for a way to login my google account for only contacts and calendar. How can I do it without gapps?
Thanks,
Fatih Y.

Did you use the GApps provided in Szeszos thread? If you did, there shouldnt be a problem unless other people are flashing some other version of GApps to their phone.
Also, its supposed to be copied to priv-app.

Replacing CM apps with Google ones

I'm using CM13 right now and the CM/AOSP apps hadn't bothered me till now.
I want to replace the stock CM contacts app, dialer app and clock app with the Google ones that come with the stock ROM.
Reason for this: Contacts app is buggy, Clock keeps crashing and Dialer doesn't have the built-in call blocking feature.
How would I go about replacing them?
If I install the apks, the other apps still show in the app drawer.
Help a noob out
Thanks.

Search for Open Gapps, the Aroma version. You can choose the apps you want to install, to replace, etc. I use CM with Google Apps, and Open Gapps are the best option.
Cheers

Clean install is better IMO. You can try it over your current setup, but make a backup first, and if it starts to force close apps or give you any errors, perform a clean install.
