Does anyone know how to remove Pre-loaded Applications? With 2.1 - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just got my Hero yesterday and it came with 1.5 while activting they told me to update to 2.1 and call back which I did, but how do I remove applications. How do I remove applications like Footprints, Mp3 Store (Amazon), Peep, Nascar, Etc?
Also does anyone know how to at least hide applications from All Programs? On my BB I could hide them is this possible on Hero?
Thanks for your help and I did search uninstall applications and remove applications, as I am sure someone asked it, but I couldn't find any results so please don't flame me if a post on this exists.

You can't until you get Root, you need read/write permissons on the /system/ partition to remove those...sorry.

Ok thanks for help

After rom upgrade my Android has phantom apps

My MT3g thinks I have a couple dozen apps already installed that aren't already installed. When I go to the market to install one, it says "INSTALLED" if I click on it, I see the OPEN and UNINSTALL buttons grayed out. How can I get my android to stop being obstinate and let me either install or use the apps it thinks are installed?
Did you wipe before you flashed your rom?
I thought so! but apparently I didn't...
I thought Cyanogen had a script to fix this issue though but I can't find it. FixPermissions.sh or something.
Try and format your partition ext/2. I had to do that when switching roms to because apps weren't launching.
Anyone figure this out I'm having the same issue with my G1 with Cyan v4.1.9999????
Same issue after wipe/factory flash and rom upgrade

might be worth following eventually. I've tried using other file and package managers to try and remove the apps, but they aren't showing up anywhere but in the market as phantom apps with greyed out open/update and uninstall buttons.
If you can download the original installer from somewhere (google search), just install that, uninstall it, then install it from the market and that should fix the problem. That's what I did.

This method works... if you can find the apks. I thought backup for root users saved all apks. But apparently it doesn't for protected apps >.> and I can't find a few of them anywhere on the internet (or the download links don't work for me e.g. rapidshare)
So I'd be really grateful if anyone could upload these apks for me.
biz.mtoy.shot.apk (Shot: a game)
com.agilesoftresource.apk (AndroZip)

[Q] Removing Pre-installed Apps

I got my device from AT&T yesterday, and it came with several APPs that I don't want. But I cant find a way to uninstall them. I've tried several Uninstaller programs, but no luck. Any ideas?
If you root your phone, you will have several options.
1) Install Titanium Backup from the market. You can use this to remove apps you don't want.
2) Download the Android SDK. You can use any terminal program to explore the file system and remove unwanted apps.
Be careful what you remove as root, you can make you phone unstable if you remove the wrong programs.
easiest way is to root and un install with titanium backup. . . just delete the AT&t apps and you are good to go.....
Actually, I think the easiest is to search the forum for super rooter extreme. It will root and remove bloatware in one shot.
Actually, found the link for you.

Thanks a lot guys. I have to bring my phone back to AT&T tomorrow since I can't send or receive MMS. I'll try all this once I get it back.

uninstall att application

i already use one click root to root my captivate, but could any tell me how to uninstall att apps? or install apps that are not from market?
cuz i am not able to do so.
when i went to application management, there is no uninstall button under att apps.
and when i went to install apps that are not on market place, it is still said "for securtiy your phone is set to block installation of applications not sourced in adnroid market."
You will have to root your phone and use titanium backup to remove the AT&T apps. To allow side loading apps, aka those not in the market, you will have to modify the settings.db on your phone. There are posts that cover both of these items throughout the forum, just do some searching and you should be able to find them.
Titanium backup to uninstall apps. Can be found on market. Make sure you know what you are doing before you get rid of something. Do not delete gtalk, talk, por just about anything google

for non market apps

Nope, root only gives you access to SuperUser, which application like Titanium Backup use the superuser privileges to modify locked in items like AT&T bloatware.

Removing APPS that come with the rom

hi,
is it possible to remove apps that come with the rom of the supplier? if yes, how can i do that?
tnx,
Yes, but you need root access, and with Titanuim or other similary app just simple uninstall app.
Also if you find the apps under manage apps (all) then you may be able to do it there, or at least disable them.

Uninstall Sys Apps

Hello All,
I have unlocked my bootloader and rooted my HTC One with Supersu.
I have used a few different programs like Root Uninstaller or Titanium Backup to try and remove the bloatware apps from my phone. It says the app is uninstalled. Then if I restart the phone they re-appear. I have been digging around the forums and suspect this may be due to the S-On function.
Could someone help explain this to me and how I remove these correctly.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
Reece
I'd recommend freezing the apps with Titanium, rather than uninstalling. It should fix your issue with apps reappearing.

Thanks if you know I would also like to know how to remove these and why these would be re-appearing. Just for my understanding.
because you said maybe it was related to s-on here is a video how you become easely s-off.

theres a system partition within the phone that isnt really allowed to be touched. for some reason certain apps hang around in that area. some custom roms like viperONE have the option to turn these system partitions the R/W which is read write. this will allow you to remove the apps permanently.
