Hey guys, I been trying out that win95 port app this morning.....Everytime I un-mount my SD card now my system goes crazy, says "system not responding" and FCs, then freezes, then reboots but not fully and again give me the "system not responding" error......After the first not responding error ADB is kicked off and I get nothing...... I need to do the power, vol. down, trackball to fully reboot to get back to a working system....... I've attached a pastebin if anyone can help out? Maybe its just that 95 port.....
http://pastebin.com/fw01Qbyc
upon further investigation its just the .34 kernel....my bad, mods please delete.....

Hi all,
Whenever I go to use a program for the first time that requires root, my screen goes black and processes start freezing. Eventually, a box comes up saying that the "Activity SU Request" process has frozen.
Any idea what's causing it (could it be the amount of apps i've installed?) and/or how to remedy it?
EDIT: found this:
@Androidandy the easiest way to get it working seems to be:
turn on your phone by holding the home+end(power) key
press alt+x to enter the recovery console and then press enter when it asks you
next type:
mount data
rm /data/data/com.koushikdutta.superuser/databases/superuser.sqlite
if you have the problem where it says this file does not exist, type:
rm /data/data/koushikdutta.superuser/databases/superuser.sqlite

Sorry for asking without looking completely thoroughly first, a mod can close this thread if they like.

Or...... dear lord, why.... you could just go to Settings>Applications>Development and enable "USB debugging". It's a known problem with the current SuperUser.apk
Usb debugging simply isn't working with my stupid windows computer, and I'm too lazy to boot it into linux. I found out the hard way that the recovery console doesn't work on my phone, I must have forgotten to update the phone somehow. I was fiddling with all the key combinations, conveniently forgetting alt + w = wipe.
Managed to get an old backup working, and the SU popup is working again.
I am using Cyanogen 3.9.2 with most applications on the sdcard. I booted my phone without sdcard. Now after I boot my phone with the sdcard in again, all applications on the card are acting weird. Force closes, reduced privileges for some applications (no network connectivity) etc.
Is there something I can do to fix this instead of just reinstalling every appication, like recreating some files?

Have you got CMs recovery? If so go into the console in recovery and type fix_permissions - Not to sure if this will help but give it a go.. If not please post the logcat errors.
I did "fix_permissions" from the recovery console but it didn't help.
My logcat can be found at:
http://pastebin.com/m4eaa04e0
And I double checked. The files in the app/ and dalvik-cache/ on the sdcard are there with the right permissions. Unchanged as they were before this problem occurred.
My sdcard seems to be fine (no corruption) and is correctly mounted on the phone.
I also reinstalled Cyanogen 3.9.2. No luck
You're logcat is cut off. Says "installed without..." then moves on to the next line

I noticed that too. But I copied it exactly as it was. I think the part following "installed without" is just an empty string :|
"Sorry! The process system has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
I get that message every few mins when I am on a Hero rom. It keeps looping and looping until I reboot. Anyone know a fix?
If u have cyanogen's recovery 1.4 go to console and fix the filesystem and go into the console and type fix_permisstions. Also collects a logcat and post it in the thread of the rom ur using so the dev can debug it
Hi there.
I was trying to root the captivate.
The superuser icon appeared but was stopping unexpectedly all the time, not just the superuser, but all the apps from the root.
So, in the safe screen, i erase all the data and cache, i don't know why i do that, so now all the processes are stopping unexpectedly all the time, i can't do nothing with in the phone.
What should i do now ?
Thank so much for helping me.
Edit Update
I manage to go to the safe screen again, and install the update.rar again.
but the warnings of the "stopping unexpectedly" was appearing all the time, i was closing, but a new one pops on the screen, somehow i manage to go to the sd confg. and i unmount the sd and format.
so now the big error is that the typing letters is not working. and some notifications appears.
in the time i was typing this, the notifications returns to appeares all the time, so i unmount the sd and format again.
the typing was returned , but 1 minute after, notifications returns.
i will try to install the 2.2 Froyo now
sorry for my english
edit
now is working 100% whith 2.2
=DDDDDDD
I have had my Nook Color rooted for about 3 weeks and have been enjoying it.
But today things started to mess up.... A LOT.
I use my Nook Color in school for reading books and playing Angry Birds when the teacher's not looking, and throughout the day the UI was getting more and more sluggish.
And so, a few hours ago I decided to turn it off and then back on.
After it cut off I let it sit for about 10 mins before trying to boot it back up.
Now, for some reason it just wouldnt.
After fiddling with it a bit I discovered that if I took the SD card out then it would power up, but then freeze at the "touch the future of reading" screen.
But if I put the SD card in and hooked the machine up to my computer it froze at the "n" screen.
Knowing that I probably needed to do the factory reset I plugged it in and turned it off 8 times and that got me to be able to open Clockworld Recovery v3.0.0.5
I scrolled down to the "wipe data/factory reset" option.
Here is what i got:
-- Wiping data...
Formatting /data...
Formatting /cache...
Formatting /sd-ext...
Formatting /sdcard/ .android_secure...
E:failed to mount /sdcard (No such file or directory)
Error mounting /sdcard/ .android_secure!
Skipping format...
Data wipe complete.
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Cant open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
Even after the factory reset or whatever that was it still wont boot all the way up.
So yeah... Is there anything I can do to save my Nook Color? Or is it ruined?
Back up the data on your SD and format it.
If you can still get into CWR, that means you can use adb. Try my method to restore to stock without adb by flashing a zip or snowfox's method with dd and boot img. Both threads are in dev.

Can You give me a set of instructions or something? I am VERY new and I'll probably end up making it worse.
Find snowfox's thread in dev, top 15. You will need adb..there are instructions there..

Oddly enough a similar thing happened to me while searching and watching Youtube videos.
The longer I searched and watched videos the slower the whole thing got.
Eventually I got a black unresponsive screen.
After I was able to get back to task killer and killed everything, it still made no difference, the entire tablet was so slow it was unusable.
Did a restart and then the touch screen no longer worked.
Did another restart and everything is working fine again so far.
Not as bad as your situation, but it seems like there is a memory leak somewhere..
I powered it up this morning and left in on while I was at school all day, and it still says "Touch the Future of reading"
I'm getting depressed.
***UPDATE***
Thanks at all of you who are trying to help, but now it wont even boot up past the "Touch the Future of Reading" screen.
Also, when I hook it up to my PC it does this:
When SD is removed:
It says "new hardware found" and Then it says "Found new hardware" "RDNIS/Ethernet Gadget"
If I go to My Computer it shows no new drives.
Can anyone explain this?
I have discovered that if I plug it in without the SD card in, let the computer say "found new hardware", then hold power and the n button for about 15-20 seconds it boots to the n logo screen but then just sits there. My PC also recognizes 2 new drives "Removable Disk I:" and "Removeable Disk J:" but when I try to open them it says "Please insert a disk into drive I: or J:" At least now I have access to some drives, anyone know where to go from here??

I'm not exactly 100 percent positive on this but It's supposed to wipe itself back to stock on the 8th failed boot. Have you tried it eight times yet?

It won't with Clockwork installed. I would try the restore image from the developers forum
This happened to me and this is what I did.
My NC was also getting stuck on the touch the future or reading screen. I tried rebooting it several times and it still didn't work. However, I did do this and it worked so give it a try:
1. Make sure your NC is off.
2. Plug it into a computer.
3. Hold down the n and the power button for about 20 seconds.
4. When the ghetto menu shows up, select the first option to reboot.
5. Wait a while for it to boot. It will stay at the touch the future of reading screen for a while, but don't give up; it will boot up fully.
6. Try again if it stays at the touch the future screen for more than 1 minute.
7. If it still doesn't work. try something else
I did this before doing anything more dramatic and it booted right up.
Thanks zen5200 - those steps worked perfectly for me.
Time for some words of wisdom:
If you can't fix something your messing with, then don't mess with it.
