what does autosync sync? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

does autosync in the widget relate to the accounts posted in settings >accounts and sync? If I only want gmail updates do I check autosync on the widget and uncheck facebook and twitter in settings or do I need to actually remove those accounts in the accounts and sync settings? I searched google with no luck and I'm on my phone so I couldn't search the xda forum. Thanks

I removed the whole crappy Gmail and use regular Email app. That way i can have sync OFF at all time but still have the email check my accounts at every hour.
I believe Autosync is hooked up to Google related apps like GPS Location, Gmail, Contacts and Calendar + the FB and Twitter on accounts and sync setting.

Yes you can have the autosync in the widget on and only Gmail set to sync and Facebook/Twitter turned off. It will sync your Gmail, calendar, and contacts.

If you turn of Autosync with the widget, everything in Settings>Accounts and Sync will stop. You can turn off just Gmail syncing by going to Settings>Accounts and Sync>[email protected] and unchecking "Sync Gmail"

Now I'm all set thanks for the help

[Q]Is there any way to force sync calendar

Hi, I used to have a HTC Desire before switching to the SGS. The Desire had a Sync now app, which basically allowed me to start/force the sync process for my calendars. Which was especially convenient when I wanted to edit some events on the computer and wanted to.see.the results immediately...
I can't find a similar function on my SGS. So I'd love to know whether it burried somewhere deep in the menus or is it really not there at all? If the latter's the case, I'd like to know if there is any third party app that can force start a sync process.
Thx.

Try Settings > Accounts and sync > select the account you want to sync under "Manage accounts", you should then see options to Sync Contacts, Sync Calendar, etc.
you could also use the Power control widget on Froyo to disable and re-enable the sync. It usually forces the applications to sync.

Almost, once I was in the account details I had to press menu key and then a sync now option appeared.
Thx for the suggestions.

[Q] Multiple Google Calendar selections

I have searched for a solution for syncing my various calendars on my Google account and I have not found a solution yet.
Currently I can sync my main Google calendar, Contact's birthdays and US Holidays but not my Dallas Mavericks calendar. I don't know how it misses it. Is there a limit on how many calendars that can be synced on one Google account?

There is no limit.
Go into the default Calendar application... Menu > Settings > Calendars (is the first option, under View Settings). If it's not there, then you most likely do not have access to the calendar on the account that you're logged in to on your phone.
I tried that.

Actually I have done this. I can see my basic Google calendar as well as "#[email protected]" and "en.usa#[email protected]" all of which i have selected on the web-based Google calendar.
I just can't find out how to get the Google calendars I have selected on the web to show up in my Android calendar.

S Planner annoyance - how do I make my Gmail calendar my default calendar?

Why on Earth does S Planner default to My Calendar instead of my Google Calendar? It's an unnecessary annoyance to always change calendar's.
Hey, I'm with you on this.
Regards.
Yes, I agree and it has been pointed out in two other threads. Hopefully either Samsung or a developer will rectify this at some point. Calengoo is a good alternative calendar that allows you to sync to google
Is there any way to Sync my gmail Tasks wiht s planner tasks?
I just go into the options and tell it NOT to show the internal calendars. Only my Google Calendars.
Same issue here, hiding them is good but not when the default is set to samsung when you add new event and then you cant see the events.
Guess have to move away from S planner.

Go to Settings>Accounts & Sync> Click individual accounts and switch off calendar sync for calendars you don't want to sync.
Go to S-Planner>Settings>Calendars> Deselect the calendars you do not want to display
I have 2 Gmail accounts (Personal) and 1 Exchange account (Corporate) configured. But I sync only the Exchange calendar and it works good. It saves to the Exchange calendar by default.
Geoux, thanks. However I couldn't disable My Calendar in system settings. I did disable calendar sync of the Samsung account and that seemed to help. When I now go to calendar settings I still see My calendar and I can't unmark it. But that's no issue because when I make a new appointment it will have Gmail account as default

Simple sync with Google, but how?

This is my first Android phone and I'd like to sync my S-Planner calendar with my gmail account but I can't get it to work.
On the Note I go S-Planner>settings>calendars and check "My calendar" and the email account. Then >Calendar sync>Sync all.
My Agenda items should appear in the calendar on gmail right? But they don't. Can anyone help please?
There are other threads on this - you should've searched the forums first (as per the rules)
In an attempt to help, just from recollection, My Calendar IS the local phone calendar and can only be synced via Kies. If you want to sync with google then you need to use your google account calendar instead. In S-Planner settings untick My Calendar and tick the calendar for your google account. All appointments should now be added to your google account and sync with google's servers. Obviously you'll have to add your entries again Or work out how to move them.

Thank you. Yes, of course I checked other posts, but I couldn't find anyone who couldn't sych at all and who was able to identify a reason that I hadn't already explored, hence the question. As a teacher I know the joy of sharing knowledge, so thank you for your help.

Default app Calendar don't syncing with google calendar

Hi,
I have a problem with the default app calendar, it don't syncing with google calendar, i go to settings and i tried to sync but however it don't syncing, when i reboot the smarthphone it go the first time and stop. Then what can do ?
Ps:
Sorry for my bad english.
Do you have your Google account added to the phone? : "settings - accounts"
In the calendar app, verify under "settings - calendars to display - calendars to sync" if all the calendars are checked
If all else fails: try an alternative app from the Playstore: Today, Google Calendar and Digical are good alternatives
By default the event is stored in phone.
When adding something, select GOOGLE account.
In google account, the calendar is checked, but it don't sync always, i need to reboot and after it syncing one time and stop, or it syncing sometimes by itself.
