New rom for Incredible
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Inc...6_hboot_0.79_release_161494_NoDriver_0514.exe
Hmm, anyone dissect this one yet? Is it Signed?
Good find!
software
IDK if the attached package above is signed, but that IS the latest VZW version for the incredible.. it downloaded to my phone the day I activated..
Nevermind...
I take it this is the one with the update? Or could it be something else?

hboot .79 was not shipped with the dinc (except a few newer shipped units), nor provided in the OTA. I think the dev team is taking a look now.
Wouldn't the hboot .79 have way fewer exploits and chances of exploiting su than the standard .76?
.77 was standard, but yes it could have fewer exploits or it could have more. no one knows at the moment

It's in mine so I hope,,,
someone can find a way in it ;-) Mine came with that version a few weeks ago when I got it.

I just got mine yesterday and it def came with .79, fyi. So newer production will have at least that, you can bet on it.
how does one use one of these roms?
Odd
I had a pre-order, and had .77. I entered recovery on the 2nd try (and never removed my SD card). I wonder if .77 was why it was so smooth to enter recovery.
My phone arrived last week (6/16/10) with .79 loaded. I was able to root it after hours of struggling.
I had to return mine and got my replacement 4 days ago and it came with .77
Sent from my HTC Incredible using Tapatalk
Mine has .77 and was very hard to root. I finally got in though (only twice).

Are you saying you used the Sprint RUU?
If so, no you're stuck with it until or unless they figure out how to root it.
there is a subforum for this. it's called hero QUESTIONS and ANSWERS. I'm sorry, but is it really that hard? Sheesh!
It can't be rooted yet. You're stuck for a while

It won't work. it requires su, which won't be on that RUU.

Yeah. I messed around with it a little bit myself, which is how I found out.
(No, I didn't RUU my phone and yes I'm still rooted)
That doesn't work on the new 2.1 release if I'm not mistaken.

well.. to my surprise I got a phone call yesterday from HTC support regarding a letter I sent weeks ago about the locked S-ON phones..
from what they told me (it's customer support after all which means more marketing not technicians.. ) they are getting ready an unlocked bootloader which will be ready soon.. (don't ask me they wouldn't tell me when..)
seams kind of funny after AlpharevX but it's a good move from HTC anyway..
What did they specifically say?
Did they say that they were rolling out unlocked bootloaders for HTC Incredible S and/or other previously released phones?
I am assuming they did because I doubt you would post here if they didn't. But, I just thought I might ask.

well since they called me about the IS (I don't own another HTC phone) and said that they are preparing an unlocked bootloader for my phone (not only my phone I guess )
The 'coming soon' card has been played by HTC ever since they announced they were going to unlock the bootloaders.

I take it with a grain of salt. Coming soon can be anythinng from now to the end of the year.

I guess we don't need it any more now do we ?
they released that statement before they released the HTC Sensation, so why is sensation still locked?

It's probably because they'd already built and tested the locked bootloader prior to its release and it was too late to change it before shipping the devices. Now they'll have to build and test an unlocked one before releasing that.

your radio is still s-on,
unless you used the hardware method,
and also when you reflash your entire phone, tada, s-on
so, do you need it...?

got a Bell Inc S 3 weeks ago and mine was the same way... never thought to look until i booted to bootloader. you can flash a custom recovery and ROM, but you'll have to use the ENG hboot to flash a radio, e.g., to use the custom Unity ROM 1.27, you'll need a GB radio.
Wow that is amazing... Only if mine were shipped S-Off.
with you 2 that makes 3 confirmed S-OFF reports
So that means HTC started to unlock bootloaders by new phones ? Or only by shipped phones down example like there from.Canada ? Does anyone know when HTC is going to Do a update for the other phones ?
Wow!! They're being shipped S-Off now? You guys are lucky!!
nope

Nope this has been happening since day one in Canada, i have no idea why
I want to know too。
Lol lucky people. If only my Inc S was shipped S-OFF. :'c.
Well I suppose it's my own fault though.
I was actually stupid enough to update it fully (2.30.405.1) before even exploring my options on XDA :l.
Oh well. Challenge accepted ;D
Here's to hoping AlphaRevX will find a temproot.

You realise this is just ICS? As in the version a lot of phone have had for months now? I mean it's good and all, but there's been custom ROMs offering the ICS experience for a while now.

Yes, but until last week the NAM/Canadian IncS could not use the ICS RUU that has been available for several months now.

Yeah, ICS for IncS has been out for a few months now. Just Bell are assholes and decided not to release an OTA update, so HTC has finally released an RUU for us.
tplblake aready had this rom available in the dev. forum. There is also, arhd available, which is a slightly modified version of this same rom.
The only reason to use this ruu, would be, if someone would like to stay s-on and non-routed. If you waited this long to get ics 4.04 and still routed, s-off and installed a custom recovery and blackrose, you get nothing more for your wait.

So Downloaded the Canadian region .zip file, went through everything and I keep getting an error stating that this is the wrong build for my phone. Any help/suggestions? I'd really like ICS, I haven't rooted my phone, I've read of others who have had no problems and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
hi guys i just recently got my htc one, unlocked. its till on 4.1.2 and when i click on check for updates it says its up to date. i would like to know why it says its up to date while 4.2.2 has been out for so long AND whether manually updating my phone is possible without rooting and while remaining stock. also if i flash the european update will it not ruin the gps settings? i dont want to ruin my phone, its currently perfect i just want it to be up to date and i rooted my old htc desire hd n no single rom was ever perfect. please reply!

I think you have probably got one of the USA versions which are skipping 4.2.2 and are going to be updated to 4.3 before the end of this month. If this is the case, you are now running the most up to date software for your device.

Now would be a good time to s-off your device (completely reversible) before doing any updates which will prevent this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2314582
Having s-off will, in the event of any problems updating your device, give you the ability to 'rebrand' your device to any suitable version and hence receive timely updates whilst still remaining completely stock if that is what you desire.
