I have some problems with sharing pictures to facebook while on 3G. It works fine with wifi but i always get a failure when i try to share on 3G. I think this happend after switching to Froyo.
Can someone confirm that this doesn't work?
btw: I did a speedtest and i got 1mbit/s down and 170Kbit/s up

Sometimes i can download from the app store, sometimes i wait forever. If i use WIFI it works flawlessly. I am on the ROGERS NETWORK, everything else works
they do end up downloading, it just takes awhile to start, I don't know why it does it.
I have a similar problem... it doesn't download apps via wifi, only on 3G, HSDPA or GPRS...
In the German Vodafone network is it the same. I've read thats a Problem of the google Market all over the world. But google knows the problem, and they work for it to fix them.
Does anyone else out there have Slingplayer installed on their Captivate? They don't offer any trial version so I shelled out $30 for this piece of software and I can't get it to work. It works fine over WiFi at home, but it won't work right over 3G. I originally posted this issue in the Slingbox forums but I thought I'd repost here since XDA members tend to actually know something about cell phones/technology.
Here is my original post on Slingbox forums: http://answers.slingbox.com/message/13962#13962
Here is the issue:
When I try to play video over 3G it stops after a second or two and plays choppy after that (and I don't mean a little choppy, I mean like audio will come back for a second every minute or two). It used to work fine on my old phones but just to test it, I put my sim card back in my old Tilt 2 and tried out SlingPlayer. I was able to get a steady stream with decent quality and no cut outs. I also went to mobilespeedtest.com and did a 2MB test with my Tilt 2 and got around 1300KBPS. Then, I put the sim back in my Captivate and tried to watch from the exact same spot. It played for the first 2 seconds then the video stopped. The menus still worked so the program wasn't hung or anything, the stream just stopped coming in. I then exited SlingPlayer and loaded up mobilespeedtest.com on my Captivate. On the 2MB test, I got aprox 3500KBPS. Almost 3 times the bandwidth of my Tilt 2 and I coudln't watch the stream at all.
Since the video worked on my Tilt 2, it can't be an issue with my slingbox and router setup at home. Also, my Captivate gets faster download speeds so it can't be an issue related to bandwidth.
It works fine over WiFi when I'm at home, but it refuses to work over 3G. I also got poor results over WiFi from a location outside my home. Seems like it has trouble with going to an external IP address? Again, my slingbox works fine on my other phone and on computers that are outside my network so it can't be a slingbox/router configuration issue. The only device with trouble is the Captivate. Since the slingplayer mobile software got 4.5 stars in the marketplace, I'd imagine its working good on other phones and the issue is with the Captivate/Galaxy S phones. Thoughts?
I have sling player on my captivate and it streams fine over the 3g network. Sometimes it does cut out but thats only when I have really crappy 3g coverage. I wish I had some advice for ya, but I just wanted to write and let you know that it's working great for me over 3g. So the program does work on the captivate without issues. I'm wondering what the issue could be.
Thanks for your reply. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Slingplayer. It still gives me trouble over 3g, regardless of signal strength. Basically, when I turn on SlingPlayer it will stream just fine if I have good 3g signal. But once I change channels, it looses the video stream. I can still hear the audio, but the video freezes and won't comeback until I disconnect and reconnect. Are you able to change channels without issue?
i have sling player working fine on my euro i9000 and it works fine over 3g as long as you have good signal.. i have a feeling that yours is not working well because of at&t limiting the 3g upload speed which also affects downlolad..

I have at&t and it work fine for me also. I guess the only thing i can say is make sure you don't have other stuff in the background working or taking up data
I have it as well.. I have AT&T and zero issues with 3g or wifi... works great.. sometimes it chops up when i first start it but for like 3 seconds then fine.
I also have the Slinglayer working without a problem.
this thing never work 100% i have to be reloading pages, sometime it does not connect at all. are you guys having the same problem, i hope they have opera soon or maybe that big update may fix this.
I am having the same problems you are experiencing
Network issue i think.
I am in 3G orange in france, and I didn't have problem with internet.
I would guess network too, never had a problem with pages not loading, but on O2 they were slow, on 3 its nice and fast
im on the fios network my wifi is so fast, im also on tmobil 4g network.
i dont know what google have done and apple but never have this browsing problem with those os. im with windows all the way but this is serious. browsing is something big on smart phones.
Am on 02 Uk and no problems here. so maybe your network ...
Does it work fine on wifi? cause if it does then definitely network
fios here as well and no issue to report if not for the already known (i.e. no flash support).
I do have some issues with the browser.
it closes on me on both WIFI and 3G.
But even with Android, i had issues with the browser.
Well i use my phone for work alot and it requires internet. I'm currently using the MilkyS ROM and the first time I flashed it my phone was probably slower than the stock 2.1 but internet was working fine. So i eventually got sick of the speed because games would lag and even general navigating. When I reflashed it the speed was fine it was great infact however my 3g started playing up it shows the 3g symbol, the APN is fine but the data connection is very unstable it might work for 2 minutes then drop out and stop working for 10 and the 3g symbol sometimes disappears when this happens! I'm becoming extremely frustrated please throw all your ideas at me. is it the modem i have to install with milkyS? will it solve the problem if i don't flash with the modem? thanks!!

Well buddy i think the problem is with the carrier !!
My SGS also have the same problem ,i found it out that some places couldn't get perfect 3G coverage that makes our signal reception to stutter,I changed the option to GSM only from GSM auto(PRL)in Jetpack v5.1 JVS this made the signal stable but my 3G is gone....
its even the same in JVQ too and my friend's SGS also does the same,it even did happen to my old MotoDroid/Milestone.So i think its a carrier issue...!
I don't think it is I think it has something to do with modem compatibility because I get the 3g symbol and every so often internet works for a bit of time but then cuts out and it just shows 3g sending but not receiving and sometimes the 3g symbol will disappear. I only had this problem when I tried to reflash the ROM. My reason for reflashing was slow phone speed for some reason but internet worked flawlessly. I had the same issue with the internet with the darky's rom too so I'm not sure of the issue but it's bugging me!!

If you are confident that its a modem issue then try CM7 and these threads maybe useful!

Try these.
As a quick and temporary solution, you can always return back to your stock firmware.
Go to samfirmware.com and download the original one.
Hey,
I recently flashed CM10.1 on my note and it's working perfectly well on WiFi, but when i switch to 3G, some apps don't connect and show connection timeout.
I did some digging but found no solution to this problem,
when i tried using market access, 3G connection worked on all the apps it didn't work on before...
Any idea how to fix this issue without having to use market access?
Are you sure your apn is properly setup?
Also you may try a different modem.

I had a problem that from day one (or maybe since I got my ICS update) my 3g was so slow I couldn't use it... when I did a speed test on it I was getting download speeds of 1-2 kbps MAX, upload was 0-1kbps from what I remember. But switching ROMs never helped. When I changed my modem however then I think it fixed the problem... but I haven't had the chance to test it (poor 3g signal where I live). If I were you then I would flash another modem, which one are you on now?
