So, I want a clean install of a stock Android rom for my Legend. I've had the Hero and I've had to wait for the updates. I like SENSE, but It's not a necessity for me. A lot of apps give same or better functionality to the phone than SENSE does.
I just want to be able to install the latest greatest straight from Google.

Lots of sense free G1 and Hero Roms can be ported to the Legend. It just hasn't been done yet.
I am in the process of porting G1 Froyo Beta, but it isn't ready yet.
OR you can turn the Sense UI off!!!
and u will get the basic android 2.1 UI.
goto settings then applications and turn it off there.

I've found that Sense is glossy-bloat ware and I don't want it on my phone anymore. I'll search around and if a solution isn't within reach, I'm getting the Nexus istead.......annoys the heck out of me that I didn't in the first place, seeing the experience I had with the Hero (getting 2.1 NOW).
hmm i prefer sense i see it as the best GUI over android!

- LauncherPro (nice Home Screen)
- HTC Dialer
- HTC Camera
- Removing All other HTC apps (peep, stock..ecc.. since i we have better apps on market)
p.s. actually its working but i need to fix some. Anyone got the apk with original LockScreen?

I've been looking into that problem with lockscreen, and the Eclair version is not kept in an apk. It is in the android.policy.jar.

HTC needs to update Sense UI to work with 1.6 first off. Same goes for motoBLUR. Both UI's need to be updated and ported to Android 1.6...I'm thinkin' 2.0 is a ways off especially for proprietary UI layers like Sense and BLUR

some confusions i have regarding installation of themes.
1. will the phone memory gets erased when i install themes via recovery mode? ( will the apps n the data on the phone gets formated?)
2. my hero is android 2.1. i want themes which appear like the nexus one UI
so please guide me to find UI theme like the Nexus One
3. to be other the safer side, im even downloading the Hero RUU roms of SouthEastAsia from this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=559622
if i later get back to this RUU rom, will i be entitled to updates to the phone?

Ill try to answer your questions as best as i can.
1. No if u install a theme, your apps wont get erased. However, make sure that you install a theme that is compatible with the rom you have on your hero.
2. The nexus one ui is the standard google ui. You can get a similar homescreen from the android market called launcher pro. As far as i know there are no nexus one themes for hero.
3. You will recieve updates if you switch to an official rom.

So, Im throwing together a rom from different sources (Nik's, Runnydroid, ARHD & CM7) to make a rom that is what i call AOSP (android open sense )
it will look like AOSP, but it will have sense core. why? because i want as AOSP as possible with a working camera. now that aside, I want to have a script running after the install finishes that makes certain settings on app's, system settings and also puts certain widgets and icons on home screens to have it as best setup as possible.
can this be done? and if yes, how?
any link to tutorial or so ...

I was thinking of the same thing and I guess it's doable after all its linux and when we have setup script for ubuntu we can certainly make it for android. However I am not a developer so will not be able to help much. I just hope some of linux or android geek might give attention to it and make it happen. Basically we need a command like apt-get in ubuntu for downloading it straight from market and some command to install from sd card. I will try myself but as said I have just little knowledge in linux (I am a mainframe developer) so i will not be of much help.
Just wait and Watch and hope for the best.

Exactly, and there isn't one like this, thats why i am making it
It's almost finished though, but i really need to be able to change some of the default settings otherwise stuff won't work (for example, in settings/connect to PC, ask me should be off, otherwise usb mount does not work ...)
I also need to take some stuff out (for example, after setting 'ask me' to off by default i wanna remove the 'connect to pc' completely from the settings menu)
so far i'm keeping only sense dialer/sms,sense ereader (because its a good one), sense music player (if removed it's impossible to set a mp3 as ringtone), sense calendar, sense camera, sense browser & sense radio. All other sense stuff and widgets are removed
it will have AOSP keyboard, mail, lockscreen, gallery & deskclock and some powerapps (like titanium backup, ES file explorer etc..) and also a lot of google bloat removed
The rom will be pretty light compatred to Stock Sense and you will be able to use any launcher etc.. you want. I will include a third party sense clock/weather widget, because there is nothing better
I'm still in doubt about wether to keep or toss the sense lockscreen ...
the sense lockscreen looks better than the default one but will be useless, go with the default android one.
btw what base are you using for this ? sense 3.5 ? and why not keep the gallery app ?

base is indeed 3.5 (Nik rom), good idea about the gallery, i'm gonna keep that (handy for going from in-cam to gallery)

i would say add dsp, and attempt to completely desprint it. for mods, if you wanted to attempt to make mods for different dialers(im particular to nils dialer) maybe different music apps(miui,vanilla) and maybe different icons or even attempt at lockscreens. the sky is the limit

Agreed. deSprint it and love the Sense 2.1
dev for this phone running nearly two years strong. Sense 2.1 is pretty slick
Cool we got another Sense 2.1 rom! I've always found these to have the features I want over Sense 1.0 roms while being a bit faster than Sense 3.x roms.
Things you might want to consider adding later in the game:
-Flashlight toggle to quicksettings
-screenshot to PWR+Home

İ need this , because İ love sense 6.0 theme option, love new wifi animated icon above, but I don't like the greyish icons, I don't like blinkfeed non animated scroll, I don't like overshoot without animation. Sense 5.5 has its awesome features, so sense 6. Can we choose them, and mix somehow.

You could look into seeing if some of these things could be brought back. Would take a lot of trial and error as Sense is closed sourced so you will have to do it with smali changes. But normally when something is removed from things like this they never return or are able to be put back

Cant i prepare something special zip to flash , i have sense 5.5 , rooted , unlocked Htc one , but S-On , cant i unzip some files from stock sense 6 and import it to my rom , and make my own custom rom.

No it will not be that simple. There was a lot of base code changes that you will have to search for, compare and rebuild for each apk files.

İ'll continue to use sense 5.5 based roms then , thanks for your help , i really love sense 5.5. But , its very difficult to find sense 5.5 roms nowadays for Htc one , all roms are based on , sense 6 , because of it , i asked this question
