Okay. I feel very stupid at the moment. I am using the Android 2.3.4, released by Paul, with the new Android Market.
Today the app told my there was an update for Wapedia, and i clicked the app, but there was no update button. Only open and uninstall.
I login to the market place on my PC, and I was able to update Wapedia through there.
Has any of you experienced anything like that? Is it a bug in the New Android market, in the Wapedia App or is it me being plain stupid can't figure out how to update the app?
Any suggestions?
i think i know what's the problem... I had the same issue with Google+ because it's not available naturally in my region, so I used Market Enabler to install it, then I disabled Market Enabler... then when I could update the G+ app, there wasn't the update button, so I reenabled the Market Enabler, went back to market, and suddenly the update button was there...
So, I think you should enable the Market Enabler, and fake for example the T-Mobile USA, and you will have the ability to update... I hope I could help, if not, then sorry, but it is worth to try out
cheers

Thanks for your fast answer. I've downloaded Market Enabler, and I will try your suggestion if I experience this problem again
Maybe it's just a problem with this app, so now I just have to wait and see when some other app gets an update.
Was your problem in the new Android Market as well?
I can't really remember, since I used it since the time it first appeared on the net... but maybe yes It shouldn't be related to the market app itself, rather geo restrictions

Thanks. I will wait and see. I will post an update in here when something new happens
Make sure, that you have root, and SU is granted for the Market Enabler
Happens to me all the time on this new Market. I just ignore it and come back to it later.
The update is there but isn't ready. Come back awhile later and u will have the update button.
I got an update from Beautiful Widgets now and it worked like a charm without market enabler
Thanks for the help guys. Thought I was being retarted for not to know how to update an app
Hi there,
I just re-installed my favorite Rom and I remember that it asked me in the beginning which programs I want to install. It was specific to the ROM and had maybe 20 different major apps like GMail, Google Maps or Facebook on it. Some apps returned with an error message, that they couldnt be downloaded.
So after looking up GMaps or Facebook on the market, they show up but the Install Button does not so there is no way for me get it off the market. I checked my phone but no GMaps to be found, I tried installing it from other sources but can't seem to find it anywhere. Is my last resort to manually go through the .apk? Or has anyone had this problem before and knows what to do?
thanks
Make a backup of "MarketUpdater.apk" located in "/system/app/" using any root explorer app (or use adb). After making the backup, delete the application. Then go to Settings > Apps > Manage Apps > Market > "Uninstall updates" .. when you get the old market back you can install any app you want.
That's a known issue in the new market.
Hm how do I completely delete the android market from my phone? I managed to download the android market apk, uninstalled the updates but still same issue. I think I need to completely uninstall the app, just not sure how to do that

I had a similar issue with some apps in the new android market. I finally read in a post here on XDA that the market does not work with certain LCD densities. I had mine set to 200 and had to change it to 240 and that solved my inability to download google maps and other apps. So give that a shot and let me know what happens.

:/ sorry. but that's why the new market is not included in the newest version of hyperdroid cm7.
I solved the same problem with "Market enabler"
https://market.android.com/details?id=ch.racic.android.marketenabler&feature=more_from_developer
chose T-mobile
I have the same problem with the old market, manually updating to the new one makes no difference. Funnily, using typhoon I can set my density to any I like. Market enabler made no difference. What's really weird is that it only seems to affect some phones. I have a sneaking suspicion it's a tmous issue.

Thanks to the developer who created this. Its kind of like AppBrain was on Android.
Log in, it pulls info from WindowsPhone.com for your app history and gives you an easy way to reinstall the ones you want. Unfortunately it doesn't automatically install them as its a limitation of api's I believe, but its a lot easier than sending them each to your phone, or going through one at a time in the market.
This will be useful until full/real backups of the phone are done into skydrive (if the rumors are true for Apollo).

I just installed it. I look forward to using this application when the time comes. Just to clarify - when I get a new phone or have to restore this information on the phone I reset - I first have to install this application? Or can I do this through my windows live and zune connection?

Well, to use the application to re install your other apps you'll need to install it somehow; be it from zune, the web, or on the phone.
Once its installed it just scans your history list from windowsphone.com once you give it access, and you can select which ones (or all) that you want to install. It jumps you into each one in the market for installation, but its much quicker than going through them one at a time on the web, or searching manually through the market.
The app is pretty useful. Of course, it would have been much more useful if certain limits have not been there, but we should blame Microsoft for that. Written about it on my site here
I'm excited for a 'check list' approach to installing apps. I have TONS and I constantly miss some of my paid apps when I'm reinstalling.
Thank you!!!
Good stuff. Just installed this app and setting it up as I type this
I'm liking the WP more than Android's ICS so far; more simple and clean overall in my opinion. Only thing missing from my Lumia 710 is hot spot capability.
Sweet app, exactly what I'm looking for
If you take a look at other apps on iOS which helps to install apps when they go free, they come with a Inbuilt system which lets users add the apps which are installed using it. That way users can track what they have or not.
I will suggest you to create something like this or let users mark which are already installed so you can make a better filter.
Need Help!
I installed this app on my previous rom on HD2 and ive re-flashed to this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356833 and re-intalled your app and now it cannot find any apps on my account? It found over 600 apps on previous rom! I'll try un-installing and re-installing it to see if that helps. Can anyone give me some help. Thanks in advance.
Nevermind I'm just too impatient All I had to to is restart my phone
Nice and good app. A great feature is that it allows you to select which ones you need and which ones you don't. That's good because after a reset, you always want to start with a fresh small set
Anyone have any suggestions if it keeps getting hung up at 217 apps?

Ok so this is weird as hell, and i've already called HTC about this and they provided a little bit of help.
First, this is my first official Android handset (Why the hell did I wait so long omg?) after kicking Apple to the curb, so I am still learning all the tricks and shortcuts, but I have a fairly good knowledge as to how the OS works now.
My Issue is I am unable to install 3rd party apps. I have the APK downloaded, I have the option in settings to allow 3rd party apps to install, and when I try to install it takes me to the install screen showing me what the app will have access to, and has cancel and install at the bottom. Cancel works, as well as show info, but the install button does nothing. I've tried from the download section, as well as ASTRO File Manager.
HTC Mention double checking to make sure third party app install is enabled (I can't even get to the install screen otherwise so it obviously is) and they mentioned to do a soft-restart by holding down the power button until it completely reboots.
Here is the kicker, after doing the soft-restart for the first time, I was able to install the Humble Indie Bundle Beta App. Worked perfectly fine. But now that I have downloaded the games from that App, I am back to the same issue before where I can't install the APK's and the soft-restart isn't fixing the issue.
I've goggled the crap out of this and haven't come across really anything like this, except some mention that AT&T Blocks third party apps, but it looks like that was on older HTC phones, and since I was able to install 1 third party app, I don't think that's the case. Any help would be appreciated!
*********** TLR SOLUTION ************
If you can't install 3rd party apps, after having checked the option in settings, remove the "Google Settings" app, and then run your installs. If you are using a new install for the first time, pick Android Installer and not Verify and Install to avoid issues. Scumbag Google.
Re-install Google Settings at your own risk afterwards.

Google recently installed a new "installer" package from the store. I think it was called "verify and install". Anyway, the first time I tried to install from the Amazon store, it asked me which installer to use - Android or the new google installer. I chose the second program (always). After that my programs would not install. I had to remove that program and then the next time I made sure that I selected the default Android installer.
I don't know where the new installer came from. I didn't ask for it to be installed.
Anyway, check your apps list and see if that is installed.

Just searched all apps installed for both install and verify. There is nothing under verify, and install comes up with Certificate Installer DemoFloPackage Installer and Package Installer, all with android icon's, so they appear to be default stuff. I'll definitely keep looking though, thank you for the tip!
Edit: Your suggestion game me the idea to see if there was another installer application on the appstore that might work. I tried Easy Installer and it still just installs using the regular (or I suppose default) installer, which leads me back to the same problem =(
Do you have any apps like Lux Autobrightness or screen filter running or similar? If you do, that is your culprit. Those apps act as an overlay to your screen (that's how they adjust brightness) and as a security feature the install button is disabled when an overlay app is being used to prevent an overlay app from being able to hit the install button. It works after a reboot because the app has not yet started running.

I do have twilight installed (Like F.Lux) but it looks like stevedebi's original assessment was correct. The app is "Google Settings" attached is a screen cap of the culprit.
I unlocked my bootloader to install cynogenmod (decided against it) and when I went to re-install all the apps, the "Android Installer" and "Verify and Install" option came up, and once I saw the icon was the same as google settings, I opened it up and there was the verify options down at the bottom.

Thank you for this info! Completely forgot about this and was getting frustrated when the install button wasn't working..
I tried the whole "deleting the screen filter" app thing. It works momentarily after I "soft" reset my phone, but only for one install.
Every time, I have to reset my phone, so something else is in the way.
My phone is not rooted, if that helps at all. And it's an AT&T galaxy s2.
Hi,
I reinstalled AA and I can't choose anymore which Apps will show in the AA App launcher.
No matter what app version I use and how many times I reinstall, nothing fix this.
Is there a solution?
Thanks,
Enable 3rd party apps in AA Developer mode.
Access Developer mode by tapping 10 times the version number
Thank you for your reply but this is not the issue.
I have enabled Dev mode and checked the unknown apps.
Yet my Android Auto is missing the "Launcher Customization" tab from the settings menu.
It just vanished.
I had to reinstall the ROM from a Backup so every thing works fine now.
But if I install 5.2 AA and use the unlocker app and then install AA4.7 and install the AA5.2 the " Launcher Customization"
will be missing.
