Can't answer ur question, but am gonna ask another - if you don't mind... "does the on-screen keyboard come up when the hardware keyboard is opened too?"
AFAIK this is a persistent problem, but there is a null keyboard without any keys which wont get in your way when it pops up.

Surur
yes, thats the problem! it does so when its open. wouldnt mind if it did when closes
thanks for the link to the null keyboard, unfortunatly it didnt work. Ille see if I cant find another one
okey, I tried "Phm null keyboard", it worked but made the icon flick and looked strange so I removed it
Doesn't bother me just hit a button on the hardware keyboard and it dissapears
someone else who has a tip?
Same problem since years and generations of WM
I don't recognize it anymore. One tab on the hardware-keyboard and it is off again.
Pls. This can't be difficult to fix for a smart person.
The easiest fix currently known has already been stated.
Place the cursor into a text box, and allow the on-screen keyboard to pop up. Then slide the phone open and expose the hardware keyboard. Next hit the space key, and then slide the phone closed.
Problem solved until you bring the on-screen keyboard up again.

Yes ofcourse but it would be nice to somehow disable it from popping up automaticly
I don't see the big problem about this issue. Does the keyboard stay up on the Xperia? I know on my device all I do is hit the text box and start typing on the hardware keyboard and the virtual disappears as soon as I hit the first key.

That's correct it does disappear on the X1.
The symbol key on the keyboard doesnt work in Opera... the on screen symbol menu wont come up

it does bother me, but as soon as i press a key on the keyboard it goes away... i've come to live with it. i use skyfire most the time anyways

I tried that and could get no virtual keyboard to come up even when I wanted one. Had to change the value back again.
I just recently went from Dwangs super fast rom to cyanogens new rom on my g1 and now for some reason when i use the virtual keyboard none of my predictive text comes up. It seems as if the entire dictionary was wiped out and it only works when i add words to my user dictionary. It is not a simple settings problem because I have checked numerous times and all the settings are correct. I was just wondering if there is any way to flash a dictionary into the phone, kind of like how you can flash additional ringtones into the phone. any help would be much appreciated.
Backup for root users gives an option for saving the dictionary, but I never used it, so I can't tell you if it works or not.
But what's wrong with just retyping the word once for it to go back into the user dictionary. Is it really that hard?
Well you can try this, and see if it improves your user experience:

Or install this app, Better Keyboard:

Hey guys, just thought i'd throw a question your way, i hope you guys can help and thank you so much in advance!
Before i start, yes i did search. I didn't really find what i was looking for, anytime i saw my question asked, nobody answered it.
I have some alternatives but i do not want to do the following:
I do not want to use Advanced Launcher.
I do not want to replace with an original 1.6 Launcher.apk.
I do not want to use a home replacement.
What i specifically want to do is edit the existing Launcher.apk and change the number of screens from 5 to 3 (I'm using Super D at the moment, i normally use any 1.6 rom).
I'm under the assumption that the Launcher.apk has a file that edits the number of screens and the default home screen. (much like the advanced launcher)
I realize it might be a bit harder than that, maybe even tons more code than i originally intended.
If any of you guys know the exact procedure in doing this and could give me a little insight, I'd greatly appreciate it.
As always, thank you guys in advanced and have a good one.
I forgot what you edit but David or Binary100101 should know what to change jubeh might know too.
is it possible to customize the htc keyboard ?
I like it a lot but I keep pressing the "settings" button.
Maybe it would be better to activate it with a long-press.
Then it would be useful to activate word predictions in all form you want to, not just where it detects a text-form.
is it possible some way ?
thanks
it certnainly is possible and you don't even need root. i know because i downloaded a custom keyboard from the Market named SerbianIME (i needed ščž characters).
thanks for the reply, but since I don't know how to do it I was asking here
thanks

Log out of facebook then settings/apps/facebook / disable
you can also disable it in the blinkfeed settings

Again Settings/apps/gmail/uncheck notifications and remove from your sync settings

this is usually due to the wrong keyboard being used
change it to a different language reboot and then back to your's and reboot
