Hello, I'm from Argentina and data connections aren't as cheep as elsewhere. So I use APNdroid to "connect and disconnect" my 3G apn. The connection itself works great after I turn on the phone. But if I use wifi on the N1 and then I turn off the wifi antena the 3G connection never comes back on, even if I don't use the APNdroid and leave it turned on during the wifi usage.
It's simple, 3G works, I use wifi, 3G stops working.
I have to reset the phone to get 3G back on.
Any info or thoughts about this issue?
I'm on eclair 2.1 EPE54B so there's no froyo update for me yet. Don't want to root it quite yet, it's way too new
Thank you in advance!
Nobody has any idea on this issue?

I'm in the UK, and using a Touch Diamond.....on Vodafone 3G. When I'm connected to WIFI, I obviously want to use that for data, rather than use up my precious data allowance.
When I'm connected to a WIFI connection, how do I know Opera/IE/Email are using WIFI - and not my 3G connection? There are times when I'm in my house, and I know it's using my phone data connection, as it's just so slow (very limited reception 3G in my house)....whereas the WIFI should be pretty fast.
i COULD be wrong here.... but the way i know is if the WIFI icon at the top shows connected. If you rphone cant find the WIFI, it'll always divert to a data connection. Play with your phone around the house, see where you get connectivity and how strong to your wifi.

Yes I know when I'm connected to WIFI and how strong it is....what I want to know is how I know whether my phone is using 3G/GPRS - when I am connected to WIFI and want it to use WIFI and not my phone network. There seems to be no indication to show you are actually 'using' the WIFI network over the phone network....
Settings > Communication Settings.
Turn data connection off, turn wifi on.
Do that before you use internet and your sorted.
On both my Diamond and Touch Pro, the Wi-Fi icon appears on the task bar when Wi-Fi is available. Same goes for 3G.
Also note that some programs call for a certain connection method automatically. For example, you will note that some programs initiate 3G instead of using your Wi-Fi connection. Hopefully, there is a configuration option for such apps.
Cheers.
i don't know if you notice it, but if you are connecting through E or H or G or 3G.. the reception bar instead of the antenna you will get the corresponding letter if you are currently connected to one of them
As long as your WiFi is on and none of those letters are showing up.. you will be fine
I am not sure if this is ROM related or not, but when I have wifi running and connected, and Hello IM running, and I sleep my G1, usually about 5+mins later when I wake it back up it will be on Edge or 3G, and when I unlock my G1 it disconnects Edge/3G and connects back to the wifi network. Keep in mind my G1 will be in the same spot from when I put it to sleep, so network signal is not an issue, and I never had this issue b4. Any input?
Hey, in the last few weeks I've run into a very annoying bug on my phone. Wi-fi turns itself off after about 2 minutes. It doesn't actually "turn itself off" in the phone - and by that I mean that the wifi icon is still there, and I can see the signal strength, but the internet won't work.
In order to fix it, I have to turn the wifi off and then on again.
I've tried using the Wifi Fixer application, but it doesn't help. It can't seem to detect when I lose my internet connection.
I've also troubleshooted it, checking that it occurs on different routers/types of networks.
I'm sure it's a problem with my phone, but I dont really want to reformat my phone until Froyo comes (since I don't want to have to install all my apps twice).
Is there any solution to this? ;z
I'm on stock rom, JF3, with OCLF.
I have the same problem with my phone. My Wi-Fi at home works just fine, but when I go to my brother's house, I seem to occasionally lose internet connection even though it shows that it's still connected to the Wi-Fi. I have stock Bell ROM with OCLF by RyanZA. Oh, and to fix it I simply turn Wi-Fi off, and then on, and it starts working again.
Bump :x
Anyone have a solution?
Hi All.
I've got a problem on my International version of Galaxy S.
Sometimes when I restarted my phone, the 3G connection seems won't connect.
I tried to open Maps, market, browser, or any apps that use internet connection. But the 3G seems won't be able to be triggered to turn ON.
Funny thing is, that when I can find a wifi connection and connect to that wifi network, and disconnect the wifi afterward, then the 3G starts to be connected.
It seems that 3G can only be triggered by disconnection of a wifi network.
Can any one help me with this.
Thank you
Can you please clarify why 3G is disconnected in the first place? On my phone I never turn off 3G or WIFI but just let the phone switch on whichever it wants, this method has never given me any problems.

I didn't, I just restarted the phone, and 3G never start as I mentioned before.
I have low cellular signal in my house so i want to disable the phone's radio when on house wifi, but that option is "unavailable" in tasker.
Is there a work around to this? i know you can turn on airplane mode then turn back on wifi, but i want to know if there is a solution to just disable the radio.
Would this help? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1217038
Thanks.

I thought there was a plugin released recently that allowed something like this, sorry I can't find it though.
I have bad signal at home too so I just change over to 2g and battery does pretty well.
Why would you want to turn the radio off though? You won't receive calls/sms/anything.
Going to 2G and turning data off should be better surely?
signal is so weak that you can assume no signal at all in the house, so i'm not sure if just changing to 2g data is good enough since the phone will still continue to search for cellular signal which drains the battery.
i will try that at least for now and see if it helps, but ultimately, i do want to turn off the radio and leave on wifi.
i am able to receive calls via wifi through use of voip, receive sms via google voice.
