Hope this is in the right sections. Looks to be a dev issue and not really an APP.
Is it possible to increase to volume of mp3/media through a wired headset?
You can download Louder Volume Hack from the market. It worked for me. It will also make your call volume and ringtones louder. You must be rooted to use. I play Pandora through through my car stereo using an FM transmitter and it works great.

You can use this version. It works with the hero. I am not sure if the newer version does.

Hi,
I tried different (stereo)-headsets from motorola and jabra. The transmitted audio is not very loud, I tried the headsets with a bluetooth-connection to my windos-XP and it was much louder.
Is there any setting that sets the transmitted volume?
The volume button doesn't seem to affect the bluetooth volume, only the normal speaker and headphone.
Pocket Tunes volume booster
Hello,
Do you know pockettunes?
It's a nice prog with A2DP & AVRCP support.
And for you.... a volume booster up to 15db.
Not always perfect sound, sometimes a little scratchy, not disturbing.
I hope attachment will do it.
I have problems with uploading
[EDIT: ok, no attachment, sorry.. tou can search google for a torrent with the file ''Pocket Tunes 4.1 for Windows Mobile.zip'']
Ha!
Thanks so far! Now the music part can be solved.
But how can I do that with phone calls?
Can I listen to music via bluetooth? the search was not any help.I am on cyan 4.0.4 and again thank you guys for all the help! YOU ROCK.

More background? What would be the source and what would be the listening device? If you want to listen to music on the Dream with bluetooth headsets, then yes of course you can. Pair the devices, turn your headset on and press play in whatever music app you want to use.
the source is the g1 the BT is a generic bt I hit play after pairing and it plays out of the phone speaker.

Is it a stereo bluetooth headset (i.e. it has A2DP support)? P sure audio sources will only route to A2DP devices. Could be mistaken though.

That's still actually just a telephone call. Actual mp3s playing on a phone will be treated as media audio (as opposed to phone audio) by the Android system.
Sorry if this has been asked before - I searched and could not find an answer.
I am thinking of buying the ZaggBuds which plug into the 3.5mm jack and have an integrated microphone to make and answer calls.
I am hoping that the Sprint Hero allows me to answer calls using the 3.5mm jack?
Thanks!
yes. In fact it even works for just speakers plugged into the jack. Just have to use the phones microphone in that case.

If I recall correctly, and IPhones headset lets us control volume and music threw it - I assume calls would be answered in the same manner.
I have a pair of $50 Scosche Headphones that have a built in mic and volume control but i can't get them to work properly with my phone. When i plug them in, its shows the headset with the mic, but when i use them within a call no one can hear me. I can hear them but thats it.
There isn't a setting within the phone is there? is it just that my heaphones aren't compatible?
I plug the 3.5mm into my car speakers and phone calls play over the system...just have to speak into the phone microphone. I would assume it would work the same with headphones.
It has to be a regular headset with a single plug for it to work. The iPhone earbuds work great for example, the mic on those is way better than the internal mic on the Hero.
As far as using a button on the headset to answer calls, I'd also like to know how to program that button. I'd like to be able to press it and have it pull up voice search.

The way it's programmed on the iPod Shuffle is to pause (in our case, also answer calls) and long-press for voice options. The middle button of course. I don't think the volume buttons on the iPhone headset work on the Hero.
To be honest it all depends on the headphones like I have the Epic 4g headphones and it doesnt work well. You might have to buy HTC headphones for compatibility.

I've got skullcandys smokin buds and they work really good and they have a mic on them

I have the Epic 4g head phones and they work perfectly for me. I am able to answer calls as well as navigate my music with them. <3 those headphones.
If your headphones arent working Google this:
//code.google.com/p/toggleheadset/ download the widget and install
I got a noisehush headset and works great for voice and stereo. My old HTC headset I got with the tmo wing is on its dying day.

I have a pair of headphones with a button and mic in the head set. I press the button to start/stop music as well as answer/hangup calls
I have the Zagg buds and they work great with the hero. I can press the answer button the button on the volume adjuster that are on the buds and it works like a champ.
Great headphones!

I bought a pair of Sony head phones for the Iphone to use on my HTC Hero thinking that they would work because it had volume control and built in microphone but all their good for is listening to music...
I use Thermaltake eSports Isurus headphones. They're in-ear buds with a mic on the line. The use a single 3.5mm TRRS plug to connect to phones, and have a TRRS to TRS headphones + microphone splitter for plugging into a computer. They work great with my HTC Hero.
They have an on-mic button, but I haven't played with that to see if it'll auto-answer if I push it. I'm more the 'plug the headset in after i get a call' kinda guy.
yes
I'm using rockplayer in cm7 sd playing avi and mkv but the audio is so low I have difficulty hearing them even with an in-ear earphone. Any work around to make the audio louder?
Try an equalizer app from the market and crank the dials up to the top.
You could also try Nook Color Tweaks.
You can change the volume gain in "Audio Settings" -> "Headphone analog gain".
thanks. Will look into them when I get home. Seems DSP Manager also works.
Don't bother with an eq app. Install nook tweaks.
I think that the best solution is using another speakers via bluetooth

Given the horrible range of the Nook Color's antenna-less bluetooth radio, you won't be able to get a clean signal more than a few inches away, if that. If you've got a bluetooth speaker, it's worth a try, but if not, a wired solution will be cheaper and sound better.
Use the equalizer app. I use Volume+ paid app, but the free ones work.
Has anyone been able to get headphone control buttons to work?
I have a wired pair of earbuds with a single button and it wont pause music or answer calls. Tried with Spotify and Local music player.
I know the headphone button works as I used it with my previous phone just fine.
Any one else?

just try another earphone dude, the problem is not with the device.
Controls work fine on another pair of headphones. Seems the pair I had we're finicky.
Thanks guys.
