How do i go back to the stock kernel? I am on intersect's right now
Flash boot.img from any of the stock ROMs. Example - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=614850
Just the boot image only? Can I do it via recovery?
Yes, just the boot.img if you want stock kernel. I don't think you can do it via recovery, unless someone has packaged only the kernel in update.zip format.

you dont unless you are doing some rom swapping between 2.2<->2.1 or want to play around with an i9000 rom.
You need it to flash any ROM for Froyo. Basically froyo's recovery doesn't support unsigned zips, such as cognition, or the update.zip root method from Eclair.
Essentially you're flashing to a kernel that will allow you to flash an unsigned zip, then using that to load clockwork recovery, and then flash you're desired .zip.
The current version of DG's Cognition, version 6 now includes support for Clockwork recovery, and also the ability to flash unsigned zips via ROM Manager or clockwork so Kernel swapping isn't necessary if you flash to that version.
There is also a standalone kernel with the same functionality in the dev section. You can odin flash that overtop of whatever you're running. Again, only for 2.2.

you dont need it though....you can use ODIN
Alright so i just wanted to see if i have everything straight before i start this.
- Flash JVB using odin. Is this the stock froyo image?
- Flash a Clockworkmod kernel. I have speedmod kernal ready to go
- Flash WizRom.zip. Just flash that with the new recovery mode from the speedmod kernal?
- Reboot in recovery mode? done is that it? All i have to do. Please let me know thanks =D
Hi! JVB is the stock Gingerbread (2.3.3) rom. And yes, no more steps. Stock rom-flash kernel-CWM-install. zip
1.to flash kernel,which is better?
2.to flash stock rom or custom rom, which is better?
TQ.

1. CWM recovery
2. Stock rom - PC Odin
Custom rom - CWM recovery
It varies according your need
e.g.
for stock ROM and kernel PC odin is best, but same time if you want to keep root, you need to use other method (Mob odin/CWM)
For custom ROM - you have to use CWM only

If you have a Kernel in .tar format it can be flashed through Odin/Mobile Odin only, whereas .zip files can be flashed through CWM.
First make sure you are on a safe kernel before doing any flash.
Then for only kernel flashing I prefer Mobile Odin, if I have a .tar file available.
However, for any Custom ROM + kernel flashing (from a safe kernel), I prefer CWM recovery & not the CWM app.
So I got together a few stock ROMs I want to flash over my Slimsaber, I'm currently on the TWRP recovery.
A lot of the flashing steps mention using CWM but how does TWRP fit into this? Is it the same as CWM?
Can I flash these stock ROMs the same way I used to flash Slimsaber? Most of them seem to be flashable zips and don't need Odin.
Stock rom are tar files and Odin can flash it. But if you are referring to TW based custom rom then yes TWRP can flash those too. It's just like CWM.
Anyway to go back to stock without computer or wiping, I have the 920T stock rom with skyhigh 3.3 kernel.
Are you asking about the stock rom? Kernel? For rom you'll need to flash the stock image from sammobile for your variant
No I have the stock rom I need a non rooted kernel to undo root.

In that case you could extract the boot.img from the stock image downloaded from sammobile or wherever, convert it to .tar and flash it through odin. There is tons of information on how to convert img to tar
