even though this ****z in spanish (joke) I figured out how to change the color.
1) tap the widget
2) press menu when the new screen pops up
3) press the button that looks like a tshirt
4)press the middle button that shows up it will give you some color choices
5)select the color you want then press the middle button

Hmmn...installing an unknown Chinese widget from a non-Market source doesn't seem like a super idea to me...Check the permissions closely. Better yet, try Fancy Widget.

I'm testing this now, it looks cool.

From the way it looks, it *LOOKS* like in addition to a widget, it is also a desktop replacement.
Though, its COMPLETELY unusable because its entirely in Chinese, no English option whatsoever.

And when you touch the weather icon another 4 screens come up!

There is an app in the market that does contain the clock / widget basically like that but in English.
When I took my phone to T-Mobile the customer guy even asked how did I get the HTC clock there.
It's named Weather & Toggle Widget. I didn't mind paying $.99 to have a nice clock / weather whatsoever.

Weather Widgets (com.androidapps.widget.weather2) with the proper skins make for an identical Sense weather/flip-clock.. on the surface anyway. And it's a paid app now. $2.

How's that working for you? I tried it and it looks good, but the clock would freeze and stop updating (no, I was not killing the task). For now I'm using Beautiful Widgets which works great, but I'd like the HTC look that Fancy has.

Hey, I'm using Weather Widget (yr.no) by Thomware. It's an accurate version of the HTC sense flip clock where the weather actually works. I like it because it has a neat 4x1 version as well as the norm.

Best Application Launcher - program for quick running application by one gestures on screen and quick On/Off WIFI, GPS, BlueTooth. Not need click many buttons - Make ONE Gestures ! Tested on Android from version 2.3.3(on phone) to version 4.2.2(on the tablet), and all worked fine. The application run a programs by using preassigned recognition of gestures - with start point on field of button, following the shape moving of the finger- example (using vector analysis ). It replaces the classic pictograms.

Launcher - is always displayed on top of other runnable applications in a the transparent of a square highlighted by default red frame - does not interfere with to other programs and reading of text and does not take much space. Battery pack does not consume as in itself does not do anything in the background - just waiting for events onTouch function.
To control the program's earlier opened - opens a list of all running software, where you can quickly switch between them or close them (but only if they work in the background). Also at the top of the list are three buttons: 'Close the program', 'Menu', 'Minimize List'.
For operation of can use eight basic gestures finger movement, with pitch between vector directions 45 degrees, you can also use a combination of vectors in two directions, for example: upward and then left, left - then down, etc.

Moving Launcher icon on the screen - this is done by dragging a button with delaying of the click on the icon, greater than 2.5 seconds; after removal of retention clicking- icon is positioned at the new location. If pressing the button Best App Launcher was less than 2.5 seconds - then starts the analysis finger motion vectors and the program begin to work search tied to this vector the set configuration (if something is scheduled for this vector).
The program is added to the AutoRun.
In the future I plan to add the ability to display instead pictograms Best App Launcher - of the clock / date, alarm clocks, quick opening the list of take brief notes, exchange rates, quick On/Off GSM Radio Module, ON/OFF AutoRotation and Rotation Screen, encryption Messenger by PGP dual keys and other details and information... at the request of of users - should any arise.

Nexus 5 as dashboard night stand

Hi guys,
Trying to convert my old Nexus to an always on dashboard and thinking about a custom rom. The official one doesn't seem to allow always-on display. Any recommendations?
Thinking about undervolting it as well.
The ideal outcome is having:
-clock
-Weather (rain / no rain, temperature chart during the day?)
-upcoming birthdays today/tomorrow (e.g. via calendar)
-agenda for today
-top read news form 2-3 news sources / rss feeds
-air quality index
-departures from my bus/train stations and selected buses/train platforms
possibly a smart home control panel in the future
google now for voice commands
What I think is the best approach so far:
custom rom (maybe)
custom launcher (Nova)
black background
adaptive brightens or scheduling
have the above as widgets on one home screen
I was thinking building a web site on my local network for this but pre-built would save me a lot of time, so even paid ones are good.
Any thoughts?

I am testing to use as a home automation center.
I think CPL launcher might be a good alternative to Nova, with hide status bar (for rom without this function). I have to check if it has the possibility of overlapping widgets

Any widgets you recommend? I was thinking about some noise tracking or similar apps, but didn't research too much. Also still researching on where to place it and what kind of mount/power supply to use. Any suggestions are appreciated
Still playing around how to setup my Brilliant Smart lights as a widget (the native app widget is fugly and buggy) and experimenting with tasker. Plan to setup a Home Assistant server in the future, so maybe then.
A tip is to make the home screen grid as fine as necessary (I started with 4x5 and ended up with 8x6 icons as it allows for finer control of the widget placements).
