Hi,
I've a S730. I'd like to use an external GPS.
The GPS is a Holux GPSlìm. This Morning I try to use it with My S730 and it work
(I used GPSTest 1.4). But with TomTom don't work because my version need port Com2 or Com3 only.
So I've used an external tool to setup gps setting to set Program Port, Hardware Port, Hardware Port Baud Rate.
But now it no longer works even with GPSTEst.
I try to set
Program Port <-COM2
Hardware Port<- COM4
HardwarePortBaudRade<-4800
with Manage Automaticaly setted...
but it not work.
Whar are the correct settings ?
Thanks in andvance and forgive me for my bad english!

hi mate,
pair the unit with your phone, and then in settings set it as COM PORT 4. Then in TOMTOM configure it for use with an external bluetooth GPS unit and select COM PORT 4. should then work!
My O2 Xda Exec keeps forgetting the GPS hardware port, no matter how many times i set it... If i dont set it GPS fails to work in the likes of Tomtom. If i set it to Com 7 everything works fine, but it seems to return back to (none) in the GPS settings each time... does anyone have a solution to this?
try com 4..........

It tried it before, so I know com4 won't do for the hardware port since the GPS com port is already set on com 4 by default.
There will be an error message saying that you cannot choose the same port for both: GPS port and hardware port.
Nevertheless, I didn't know that selecting com7 could help having the GPS work better. I'll try that.
i never messed with gps ports, the default works well in google maps, tomtom7 and igo 8
If i dont set the hardware port to com 7 then tom tom etc dont work... they connect to a "gps device" (which i think is windows emulating a gps device of the correct type) but they cannot get a signal. If i have the port set correctly i usually pickup a signal within a few seconds... but it keeps forgetting that the port is set. Im guessing that its actually to reduce power consumption by disabling the GPS device when not in use.
Hi.
I'd like to use my Diamond as an external gps receiver, using it with my notebook. Is it possible to do so? Should I use a usb connection or bluetooth?
TNX
Have a look at Franson GPS Gate. This way, you can direct com4 to Activesync, and the PC-component of GPS Gate will put the input from AS to a virtual comport on the Notebook.
Have fun!
TNX, I'll give it a try.
Shoult I install it on my pc or diamond? Or both?
GPS2Blue seems to be the easy way...
TNX again.
Should I get the same gps lag I have using TomTom on Diamond if I use the phone as external gps receiver?
Up.
Any news?
Try it and you'll find out... I've tested GPS2blue, but don't remember if there was lag.
i have tom tom 6.000 and gps driver v1.20 but its show GPS signal not found or no gps signal in my spv 1000 can any one help me how it will work in c_shekhar"s Rom

Hello you must make a com 5 for it to work and then go to tomtom and give it in by the gps settings.
hello
can you explain me more please ?how to do it ?
This is from the wiki, so in future, have a look at it first. I say this because your problem could have been solved much earlier had you read it. It will save you time. If you can't find answers there though, then please do come and ask us.
Tom Tom 6/Garmin/GPS Software seems to restart my Himalaya when looking for my external bluetooth connection?
Pair your bluetooth GPS device with your Himalaya first. After this, make sure to choose the advanced option which will give you the choice of choosing the serial connection and then which port you want to use. I always choose Com 5 as this seems to work fastest, most stable etc. After this, you then leave bluetooth on and in discoverable mode. After this, load up your software. The correct com port should then appear in the list of possible com ports for you to choose from (Com 5). After that, all should be well with the world. The reset seems to be caused when your Himalaya looks for an external bluetooth GPS device on the incorrect com port.
Hi,
I'm trying to go the geotagging way on twitter. I found an old bluetooth GPS thing from TomTom and I hooked it up to my phone. I created a COM port for it (first COM0, but then I found out some programms don't scan that one, so I went with COM1). When I launch Goolge Maps and I enter COM1 and baud rate 4800 manually, it all works like a charm. But when I let Windows manage it, it doesn't work. Why let Windows do the trick then? My twitter app, PockeTwit doesn't let me configure port and baud rate...
I read about the non-configuratable (for smartphone) hardware/software port that's been added since WM5, but since I got a smartphone, I can't set my hardware port.
Does anyone here know the default hardware port that windows uses, so I can set my receiver to that port?
Or is there any way to configure that manually through the register or some tool?
