Such as the direct "Activity" or "Intent"?
Or even a "Launcher Pro Shortcut"?

The latest ADW launcher lets you crate a 'custom shortcut'. Not only to customize the icon, but it lets you pick from all callable activities it sees. Even specific activities inside an apk. Try looking through those to see if the recent activities activity is there.

What about for LauncherPro?
You can try Visual Task Switcher from the market. There is a free ad supported and paid ad-free version. You can set that app on your homescreen and when you click it it comes up on your screen with your opened apps... and if you have more than 9 opened you can scroll to the side to see more. It's not perfect, but I think if the dev keeps working on it, it's a great option.

For the preferences in Launcer Pro Plus, click on the button on top of the phone and click on preferences at the pop-up menu.
Here's what I have that works well - under Behavior Settings --> Home Key Action is set to Do Nothing. Home key to default screen is unchecked.
Here's what really works though - go to Launcher-->Spare Parts and under End Button Behavior, select "Home, then sleep". This makes the red button the home button, because with Launcher Pro Plus, the camera button is a "last programs used" button and not a Home button.

[Q] (ICS) How to remap Search key to ICS recent apps? [SOLVED]

Hi guys, Im using Owains ICS KANG and found this cool tweak http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1450138 in the Nexus S Forum and would like to know if someone can tell me how to apply it to the LGP990? I want to remap the search button to the ICS recent apps button. I know that pushing the home button for short time results in the same action, but Im not using the search button anyway and I would like to have a quick acces to the recentapps, but like I said I have no clue how to do it!
Thanks in advance
EDIT:
After working myself into the stuff I found the solution myself , for the people which had the same issue, you have to edit the file "nvodm_touch.kl" in system/usr/keylayout. There you have to search for "key 217" and replace the "SEARCH" with "APP_SWITCH", tada you have recent apps on the search button .

Made a CWM Zip
good job , but cm9 you can hold "home" key for a moment, that will be recent task

there are 3 buttons on bottom left :: back, home, and running apps.
long press just does about the same as pushing home ..
all long pressed apps still show as running in that button.
even using back button over and over doesnt close any app or browser..
no matter what , i have to manually close apps

ok i'm familiar with the buttons on the notification/status bar, however the "running apps" button is not running apps button, it's "recently used apps" button. it doesnt mean that the app is still running.
well, I should probably be embarrassed.. so I am a little..
thanx for that.. Every day I understand android a little more..
if I knew of a way to automatically clear that column, I would..

you can clear the recently used apps by swiping them left or right with your finger.

I know on CM10 (for Atrix) there's a little button on top right that clears all recent apps. I didn't see it on CM9. Swiping is the only way it seems. Change it to webOS style and it's more fun!
Cheers

like all nexus devices and on screen keyboard devices, in 4.0 there was a button on the apps which acts as the menu button (its called action menu or something), you only need to look for 3 vertical dots or play with the apps.
the facebook app have its settings on the left tab at the end of all the crap, there you can find the settings

Yup but in messages u cant delete conversations caise no action button.
Seriously whats the use of 2 button with basically of the same function. The home and task bar button
Should be integrated in 1 button only home button one press then long press brings the task manager.
So is it the same with all launchers?

in the messenger app and in the facebook app, you need to go to the messenger section (facebook app) long pres the conversation and then an optional menu will appear.
BLAME facebook for a poorly done app man, they should implement better ways to navigate through the damn app
Reminds me of the ios

It's the same with all Android devices that use stock or close to stock above 4.1. The real blame is with poor and lazy app development of which Facebook is a good example.

That button is essential for things like search in webbrowser.
sony made in China no options button like Htc in Taiwan has.

Honest question. What makes a physical button "essential" for this, and an onscreen button (depending on the browser, that will be either on the navigation bar, on the rightmost part or on the title bar, besides the tab button) not fit? Specially when pressing either of them will have the exact same effect?
Yes, I was used to the TouchWiz way on my previous phones, and I thought that having the menu button fixed on the same position all the time was the only way to do so. Now I see that (a dedicated physical menu button) the same way as I see the fixed menu bar on Mac OS: it has some nice points, but overall it's a waste of good space. Note that the Android application design guidelines asks for an onscreen overflow button (the three dots button). Some manufacturers change the behaviour to remove the onscreen button and assign the same function to a physical key. Some developers screw up the design in epic fashion (Facebook). But there's no way around it: the onscreen menu button is how Android is meant to be, at least since the last major overhaul on ICS. Anything other than that is either a manufacturer's attempt at "differentiation", breaking the expected design of apps, or an app's utter failure to adhere to a very simple set of rules.
