Hi to All,
I have recently bought new Xperia X1 for my girlfriend and I was convinced that it will allowed me to control data connection similar to the HTC Touch Pro 2 (and what I hate about Android - there is no way to control data connection and phone is permanently connected)- when I push disconnect hardware button it disconnects data connection what is great to save the battery. Do you know if it's the only way to disconnect form data connection using Communication Manager or it's possible to do some tweak?
Kind regards and thank you for your help in advance!

there is the nodata app from modaco, very efficient
do a quick search and give it a try

There is also the attached app that can be configured to auto-close after desired inactivity timeout.

Hi,
sometimes it seems as some settings would just simply disapear... or at least I cannot find them anymore also after an intens search.
What I am looking for right now is the option whether the phone should be connected to the internet all the time or just when an application requests it. Where can this be set?? And where can the option to vibrate as soon as the connection is established be activated?
Thanks
Hi,
i have a problem with my htc touch pro.
i tried disabeling the GPRS autoconnect using this metod:
HKCU\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction\EnableCPHSON S = 1 (integer)
HKCU\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction\NoGPRSAutoAt tach = 1 (integer)
...perform softreset....
anyway... my phone doesn't seems to care, it keeps autoconnecting to GPRS even if apparently no program needs internet connection.
This is rather frustrating, not from the cost point of view, but because of battery drain.
does anyone know hot to fix this, and stop the GPRS autoconnect ?
and if not, how much battery the GPRS idle connection drains ?
Thanks
Google modaco nodata.
thanks
Thanks for answer, but it would be realy nice not to disable/enable gprs connection with a little software but to be able to connect manually only when i want.
If i use this software, everytime before i want to connect to GPRS i have o acces the software and enable the connction.
I used to operate a HTC Wizard with Windows 6.0 and i never had this problem.
It may be a problem of TouchFLO ??
Hi,
I use iGo8 and TomTom 7 and with both of these applications, everytime I close them I can see that they openend the GPRS connection (internet mobile)... my internet has no limit of use so it's not much of a money issue but the battery is going down pretty fast beacause of this background running data connection ...
Is there something I could do ?
Install nodata.cab from modaco

Thanks for the reply. I tested the software you pointed out. It's a solution except that its pretty boaring to have to lock the internet connection everytime you need to use the GPS (for it's 15 to 20 times a day with a new adress) ...
Any idea on how to disable the connection only for the GPS software ?
EDIT : even with all connections disabled with nodata, the gsp still manages to open the connection !
I had exactly the same problem. I tried the same cab as you and it didn't work... I tired creating a bogus connection and selected it to try and stop the GPRS connection as someone else advised but a GPRS connection kept on opening itself...
Do what I did and flash a stock HTC ROM over your SFR one... It completely solved the problem for me.
You might want to dump the old SFR one first for guarantee reasons.
I use igo8 and it never turns on the GPRS connection.
I don't know if this is the cause, but can you check if assist GPS is ON or OFF?
Mine is OFF which is the default behavior...
If you don't have it, you'll need an app like "Advanced Config" in order to be able to see and change the A-GPS behavior
--Double post--- Ignore
This was the problem ideed. I have direct access to the A-GPS ON/OFF option in the parameters and it was ON. Switched it to OFF and the navigation software don't start the data connection now !
Thanks !
Hi, I have been using a mobile to just talk and SMS. Few days back bought a HTC TYTN II Kaiser and this was a quantum jump for me. Question - 1. Is it possible to have WiFi, GSM/3G and Bluetooth services active all the time ? 2. How do I know which service is being utilised by an application to communicate with outside world ? I want the phone call and SMS to utilise GSM/3G and all other to use the WiFi (home broadband). Appreciate help in laymans language. Thanks.
Most of that can be configured in your Connection Settings, go in there and take a look around.
Having everything on at the same time will severely reduce the time your device's battery will last. You may wish to rethink.
Thanks folks. I could find the setup for SMS and phone. SMS and Phone through O2 (current service provider). This is what I wanted. I now need to direct everything else to go via wireless-broadband.
@ stuntdouble
not to mention that WiFi and Bluetooth on at the same time is a trainwreck.
Thanks for the causion. I intend to turn on WiFi or Blue when I want. So no issues.
Pop quiz for experts. I see an 'E', '3G' or a 'G' at various times as the active connection medium. To connect to the internet using my home broadband, I turned on the WiFi and saw the WiFi icon in the place where the above symbols appear. Does this mean that the WiFi is active & connected to the Internet AND the 3G or GPRS or E is deavtivated ? Internet worked perfectly. Is there a priority among the connecting medium/protocols ?
Hi,
As I use my old diamond now as wifi/3g router I would like to disable this feature, which makes him cancell all connections when press power on button to disable screen baclight. Always when screen goes off, phone cuts all connnections, where can I change it? I have WM with HTC Touch Flo.
Hello Kajman,
i think you use this via the usb-Port.
If the Diamond goes in Standby it "only" disable WiFi and USB Connections.
WiFi can be fixed with DiamondTweak (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=409540).
Which tool USB fix i don't know.
Kind regards,
