So I see that there is a new PRL update and I have been trying to update mine. I am getting the OMADM force close error running Fresh 2.1.2. Now I have read that this can be corrected by pushing OMADM.apk to system/app but here is the problem. I dont currently have access to my pc that has all my files to push the file through ADB. Why doesnt it work using a file explorer to move the OMADM.apk to the correct folder? Im just trying to figure out the easiest way to do this without using ADB. Thanks.

I am running JustAnotherCrowd's modified 1.3 ROM. By default install android can't download. Apparently all you need to do to fix it is chmod a folder, I tried that like 50 different ways and was still unable to download from market. Finally I ADB removed the AndroidMarket.apk and .odex from my app_s folder. Then I took the package out of his rom and ADB Installed AndroidMarket. Needless to say it didn't work, android market just crashes when I launch it. Any way to fix this?
fixed this myself by ADB pushing the AndroidMarket.apk and .odex directly into the app_s folder and resetting..... now I understand how that folder works...
still can't download though.
Hi there,
I have the Vodafone edition of the HTC Magic/Sapphire. Vodafone has a SIM menu which is useful for being able to quickly check your account balance and topping up your phone - but my HTC Magic doesn't have the STK Application on it so I can't use it!
Does anyone have the .apk for the STK application? I can't seem to find it anywhere on the internet...
even if i upload it here, you wont be able to use it.
vodafone is blocking it. i flashed to a hero rum just because of that.
Why would they want to block it? They made the menu on my sim. And how would they block it?? If you have it, please upload it. Its painful without.
STK
here you go
Awesome thanks. This may be a rather n00b q but what do I do with the odex file? Do I have to have root access and copy it to a system location?
copythe extracted files to the sd card and press on the ine with icon.
it will try to install itself.
Haha oops, I only extracted the odex file originally...
Unfortunately you were correct... when I tried to install it, it said, cannot be installed on this phone... how can I circumvent this?
install another rom - as i did
was hoping you wouldn't say that... rooting the phone won't help?
nope. i had exactly the same thoughts.
the good thing is: i have qteks hero rom and its really nicer. android itself is nice. but this rom is even nicer. a bit slower. but nice
if u cant install the apk try to push the apk and the odex file into the apps directory

Ooooh. And by push do you mean using the sdk or just by copying using a file manager?

push using adb from the sdk
So, that would be:
adb push Stk.apk /system/app/Stk.apk
adb push Stk.odex /system/app/Stk.odex
?
im on the latest fresh 2.1.2 and i cannot set pictures to contacts,
Ive downloaded the HtcAlbum.apk i added it to the memory card and tried running it but it would not install,
can someone tell me the proper way to install the apk and to where. I was using root explorer but cannot get it working
Thanks
Do you know how to use ADB?...if so,
adb push /path/to/filename.apk
i have used it once or twice
can it not be done with root explorer?
if i use ADB what directory do i push it to
thanks again
adb push application.apk /system/app
hi, i had a small problem last night whereas my phone got stuck in a restart loop after installing a developers theme via MetaMorph
After this problem i now want to be able to fix any changes to themes that i make, and if i mess something up i want to be able to restore it without reflashing my device.
Im sure that if i backup the files that are being changed in modifications i download, or ones i make myself, then i can restore these files or packages in download mode via ADB?
so in cmd i can backup with:
adb pull /system/app/framework-aes.apk
and then restore with
adb push framework-aes.apk /system/app
i can possibly even back them up just using Root Explorer, but when pushing files back on my device i get the error, 'insufficient permissions'. I have read about opening Root Explorer and adding the permissions from there, but they dont allow me to change the system folder, as its read-only
Any help appreciated!
Edit:
Off-topic im also interested to know if its possible to extract the .dex files to get the .java classes out, im guessing they are compiled
thanks

Actually you should be able to get it from the zip file you flashed to your phone. Use 7Zip to open the file and look around. It should be in there.
or just try this one out..
wifirouter.apk installation failure
wifirouter.apk fails to install via the normal means. After viewing the message stating that "wifirouter.apk was not installed" I found a few other places on the internet mentioning this app. One of these places suggested copying the wifirouter.apk directly to /system/app/ and setting the permissions correctly (-rw-r--r--). I have placed this wifirouter.apk file in /system/app/ via root explorer, verified permissions, and rebooted my phone but the app is still not visible. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm attempting to do this on an HTC incredible 2.
Thanks.
