transparent genie widget help - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi, can someone give me a step by step process on how to make the genie widget transparent? i am really new to this so i need details if possible....
o i am running darch 2.7 KINGKANGSLAYER i added the king part myself...
Thanks,
Ethan
if you want to make both our lives easy a apk would do.... like so i can just flash it... (but i will need directions on how to pull the other one and such)

Can we get a mod to move this to Themes and apps section please =D?
Do you mean something like this?
Just flash the attached zip, and it will give you clear GenieWidget(new and weather), and Clear Settings.apk (Power Control Widget)
If you just want the GenieWidget clear but not the powercontrol, let me know and I'll get your a zip of just clear GenieWidget.
Cheers!

thanks a lot i really appreciate it!

Any idea why the power control widget is the only one that's clear for me?
I've tried reflashing. I'm also running the DarkStar port, if that has any affect on it.
Thanks

When trying to install this on my Vibrant through recovery, I keep getting -
Error at line 3
Installation Aborted.
Any ideas ?

i am just that good. i saw this thread a minute ago and already have the file for you uploaded and everything.
http://www.4shared.com/file/132234151/543640f1/blackbar_signed.html
its a small file because all it is framework-res.apk (that has the black statusbar_background.png and the statusbar.xml with white notification text) and services.jar which has the classes.dex file that has be changed so that the clock and date will be white.

it was based off of the 4.0.4 template and has a services.jar not compatible with the one for stericsons lockscreen, so no it won't. sorry when cyanogen releases a stable version if you would like this i will do one for you then, just pm me when the time comes around and i will make you one
i need to test out the new colorChanger.jar anyways so i can go ahead and make one real quick for 4.1.11.1 give me about 10 minutes or so and i will have a link
and here is one for 4.1.11.1 with the status bar inverted so it should retain the curved look from the donut one.
http://www.4shared.com/file/134673715/a3acd40b/blackbar41111-new.html
i know there are people using this (its kind of obvious with my 4shared account showing how many times it gets downloaded), so my question is should i start a thread like this that has black status bars for people that want them? that way those that do want a black status bar know where to look to find it? if so, let me know and i will, its not like it takes any sort of time to make one. like 10 minutes at the most.
i can make them for well any rom (i think, not tested on rogers but i could try) just give me your rom (with a link to it would be nice) and i will see what i can make happen
Thanks a lot for this. I have been wanting this for quite some time, but kept telling myself I should just learn how to sign the zip on Linux and do it myself.
I was excited for this, but had some real issues. Number one, it will overwrite Stericsson's lock screen (makes sense since we replace the framework-res.apk and services.jar). Secondly, each time I use this, even after a fresh wipe and install, gmail force closes (and yes, I have tried fix_permissions).

I'll look into stericson's lockscreen when i get home from work tonight ,and i don't know why it would mess up gmail since it doesn't touch the .apk. i will look into this and see if i can get gmail to force close.

Thank you very much. I was very confused why Gmail would close myself. I tried many combinations of wiping and flashing, but each time my gmail would force close.
I tried this on 4.2.11.1 and I ended up doing a backup recovery. I would really like to have a black notification bar. Please help me in achieving this goal...

Sounds good, unless I hear an overwhelming response for the regular screen, I will have this up soon. For now, I will be uploading a black-bar version of the lockscreen that will work with this theme (Flash the lockscreen then the theme).
Here is a black-bar version of the lockscreen, but has not been tested. If anyone wants to give it a shot (everything should work fine, at worst case the colors will not be quite right) and report back I would appreciate it.

Hello! Firstly I would like to say great theme! But I have been experiencing problems with Metamorph.
After downloading Version 2.1.1, I opened Metamorph, and did the pick theme, and found the file and metamorph was in the process of unzipping when it said that the theme control file could not be read may be missing. I tired downloading 2.1.1 again and replaced the file but that didn't seem to work..Maybe I am making a noob mistake, as I'm not that familiar with Metamorph.

It has to do with certain download managers changing my file name. I will upload a fixed version.
New version is uploaded, theme control issues are fixed, and will not be a problem again.

google apps in cyanogen

hey guys, i know that i need to flash the google apps into cyanogen but i cant find the files for this anywhere, would someone who knows where it is please point me in the right direction.
I think I saw em over there ------>
Well I did a nandroid and got it working.
My next question is thistle, please help.
I am cuurently using enoch, cm updater didnt show.and option for a better lockscreen. I was wondering if I can just grab any lockscreen from another theme? Or must I use a enoch lockscreen only?
If by better lockscreen you mean Sterickson's lockscreen then you need enoch theme with lockscreen included and it has to to be rom-specific too. Said lockscreen makes changes to services.jar so be very careful if you grab it from anywhere else. If you are inclined to try it out then go here and look for the screen for your rom. MAKE SURE TO DO A BACK-UP before you try it out. Good luck.

[REQ] I would like these back. HELP PLEASE!

For some ludicrous reason, I cannot apply themes nor modify the framework-res myself anymore. Everytime I try, I get a bootloop or a flood of FC's
I removed /audio from RC2 along with a few other things so it shouldn't be a space issue.
Just wondering if anyone wants to take the time to make a flashable.zip or metamorph that would bring the black scroll bar back.
And if all possible, I would like my status bar icons back as well. Who ever is interested, you can get all the .png's here,
Meclairo-Images.zip
I will be very grateful to the first person to get this done!
2 rules,
1. Use the icons in the .zip on this post
2. DON'T RELEASE IT UNTIL YOU HAVE TESTED IT ON YOUR DEVICE AND IT DOESN'T FAIL OR YOU DID SOMETHING BESIDES APPLY OR FLASH!
(no one wants to fix_permissions for a theme...)
I want a screen shot from DDMS.BAT in your post along with the .ZIP or METAMORPH download link
Happy theeming and may the android gods be with you!
EDIT 9:56pm
Steve_t from forum.cyanogenmod.com hooked me up so disregard this post, I guess...

metamorph has not been working with my facebook, it acts like it does, then it's still not transparent, so what I've done is asked (and gotten) someone better with APK modifying to just upload a modded APK that I push to system/app which works, but I'm now on a pretty old version and can't find the newest one.
I'm on a CM7 2.3.5 ROM, you gotten any metamorph mods to work on the latest facebook?
hey orangekid.
my theme has a transparent widget (partly i guess with white on the bottom, dark on top.) anyways...my point is with cm7 is pretty easy. though you need to decompile apks to get the .9.pngs to work again - that may be what you are running into. if you just drage them and edit them and copy back to the apk things never worked for me.
to be honest, it seems from your questions of late, you need your own theme! can you compile/decompile?
(and btw, my latest version will be out later tonight...)

lol, so true! Because now I'm trying to get a version of your theme but with different icons for contacts and stuff.
I have not compiled/decompiled APKs before but if there's a decent tutorial out there I learn very fast, do you know of one? Can't be too hard.
I'd love to make my own theme instead of continuing to ask other devs to do it, lol.
*Before you try his theme (I know you will either way ), I've spent a few minutes trying to modify it. Try the apk attached and tell me what happens.
*Edit3:
*to have a fully working widget, just uninstall any previous version (even if you have the latest) of facebook and install the apk normally without pushing.

P.S. (you need to push the app to "data/app/" and not install it normally.
P.S. (Backup yours first, because you may not like it )
Edit:
I just tried it on my phone, it's true that the background has gone transparent but some side effects have arisen:
1- hitting the "What's on your mind?" Forces close Facebook, also hitting the share button does so too.
If you want the widget only to view status updates and go left and right, it is good for doing so. Otherwise try his theme (I know you already did )

to answer your other questions - if you install an edited apk, once it upgrades you will lose the edits. and will have to start over. which is fine, but just so you know. tis why i like cm7 and themechooser.
you asked for links, here they be. now, i am a complete novice at using terminals, etc. i learned from reading and asking questions and found a system that works for me.
two tools - apktool and apkmanager:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=640592
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695701
a very easy way to install apktool:
http://www.miui-au.com/add-ons/apktool/
i used this set up. it works flawlessly.
the bible of CM7 theming:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=964391
read the above. it is a must. really everything is laid out there.
my system (convoluted, but again i figured out a way and am sticking to it)
1- i decompile using apktool (cmd prompt --- apktool d ***.apk )
2- edit things. note: use photoshop for .9.pngs (only program that will work - paint.net, etc will not compile properly). or you can use 9editor with the sdk, but that thing is frickin' annoying
3- compile my theme (cmd prompt --- apktool b *** ) notice no ".apk"
4- then i move it to apkmanager and sign it
i guess you could do the above with apkmanager, but again, i figured out a system over days via trial and error and i am sticking to it.
now if you want to publish to the market, there is a bit more to do. let me know, and i guarantee if i figured it out (read: help from many people) anyone can.
cheers.
