Quick question for moving to Froyo - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've found the ZIP update that takes me from the ERE27 firmware build to FRF50 (Froyo). However, my N1's running EPF21B, which IIRC is the UK shipping version. Any idea if I could update from this ZIP? Or if not, could somebody point me to the correct way to do so?
Android newb here btw.

Is it its update or custom Rom? Also are you rooted

[Q] Milestone Updates Question

I am new to Motorola Milestone and need some info and hope this forum can provide some answers.
The latest X10 minipro update update from SonyEricsson lock up the system and made it unrootable, you have to downgrade and then upgrade again using a rootable version.
My question is, will this be happening for Milestone if i upgrade or update from Motorola website ?
Thanks for the help.
Yup! Actually, I think you will lose root in any android phone that you will update.

Thank you geevee11 for the quick reply.
my next question is, is there a generic rootable version of the latest update available so that i can update to the generic version instead of from Motorola site ?
once again, thanks for your help.

It depends what you mean by latest update?
Motorola has not updated its Eclair (2.1) ROMs in a while.
We are about to get official Froyo (2.2) updates from Motorola (Q1-2011, so the next 2.5 months).
Most people install whatever ROM they want, downgrade the recovery (by flashing the vulnerable recovery only SBF) and then Root from inside their OpenRecovery variant (GOT, Androidiani).
The GOT Froyo leak SBF already includes a vulnerable recovery.
Many ROMS based on Kabaldan's CM6 port (based iteself on the AOSP) already have root.
Did this answer your questions or confuse you?

Is this the correct UK Stock ROM?

That particular ROM is Android 2.3.3 with Sense 2.1. There is also a prerooted version of this ROM that can be flashed from ClockworkMod. It can be found here:

I know personally because I installed it on my IncS. My IncS initially can branded by Bell Mobility in Canada with Android 2.1/Froyo and Sense 2.0.
From reading the forums, I knew that a HTC RUU with WWE in the name was an unbranded World-Wide English version, so I then installed the the Froyo WWE version to unbrand my IncS. From that point on, I received OTA notification of WWE updates, but I waited for the official RUU to get posted. 2.12.405.x was the first WWE Gingerbread ROM, soon followed by 2.30.405.1 which I ran until last month when the GB 2.3.5/Sense 3.0 3.08.405.4 RUU was posted.

[Q] Update from 2.3.4 gingerbread to 2.3.6

Hey guys-
Looked for a thread about this and didn't find anything.
I read in some blog that in order to flash my stock rom to cyanogenmod 7.2, I need to have the latest gingerbread update.
a) is this true?
b) if so, how do I do it? Do I have to root it again once I get an official update?
thanks!
a. Nope. 2.3.4 is good. You can use 2.3.6 but not needed.
b. Yes, but as I said 2.3.4 works.
My baseband (stock ROM when I flashed CM is called baseband) is XXKPK 2.3.4. It works perfectly. But you need stock 2.3.6 from your country otherwise, 3G and GPS will not work.
So I purchased the phone in the country I live in - that mean I'm good to go?

Yes, as long as your phone is 2.3.x (Gingerbread) it's alright to flash CWM and then flash custom roms, don't have to be the latest version (2.3.6).

Yes. But if you want to update it to 2.3.6 you need to find a stock ROM from your country at samfirmware.com. But you don't need to update, because 2.3.4 is good. Now it depends on you.

You won't get any official update if you are rooted. To unroot check Dr Ketan's thread.

Thanks for the replies. Been so long since I last tinkered my Note. Have to do a lot of backreading...I just updated my Kies PC software and its still having connecting problems with my phone lol
just wait for the custom rom it will be better than official rom
Good ROMs
No more wait.
My two cents, goods ROMs you can try are Team Union, Alliance, Sweet, Eybee reloaded rocket.
after trying this and that, finally I found the best rom for my note1,
the most stable, smooth one is 2.3.6 lol.
simply go to sammobile.com and search gt-n7000 in firmware section than download your region's release and flash it through PC odin. I am sure this will resolve all your issues and you will be back on stock rom. make sure u have backed up you data and apps.
HIT THANKS IF I HELPED YOU.
