Dear android experts,
I had CM 5.0.7 installed on my HTC Dream, and I stupidly installed ROM Manager, wanting to upgrate to CM 5.0.8, and used the application to do a backup - after I clicked the 'backup' function, the phone rebooted, and is now stuck on the startup logo (and has been stuck for the last hour). I have already tried pulling out the battery and booting the phone into recovery mode, however it cannot access recovery mode, and still hangs at the startup logo. Is there any way to get past this startup logo, or is there no hope for my phone? Is there any way to push the phone into recovery mode via adb? I am a complete amateur, who follows step-by-step instructions - please help me!
P.S. If this tells you anything, while my phone is stuck at the startup T-mobile logo, if I plug in the USB cable, a message on a red background appears at the top of the 'G1 T-mobile' logo, saying 'FASTBOOT USB'.
P.P.S. In case this is a detail that could help me, while my phone is in Fastboot Mode, I have four options available:
HBoot Mode
Reset Device
Restart to HBoot
Power Down
Could any of these help me?

This thread is old, and OP is ignorant and wants to blame ROM Manager for his own problems. If you can't get into recovery, chances are you are using one built for another phone. Find the one for the G1.
Or ran into the know issue of cm5.0.7 that fash_image sometimes (more than not) fails.. thus applications using it sometimes fail.
But you have danger spl right? So flash the recovery via fastboot.. and if you don't have fastboot/adb and intended to run these custom roms its about time you installed it.
hi i tried to flash CM7 and well now im stuck in a loop going through att screen galaxy s with cyanogen 7 under it then looks like it is updating a package and then just starts over at the att screen cant seem to get it into download
edit: just got it into CWM but dont know what to do now
edit2: now there is a little phone with a triangle and a computer on the other side of it
edit3: phone does not come up in adb i think
never mind flashed with odin
How did you manage to get into CWM? I am having the same problem.
If you can get it to connect with adb, and it should as long as the cyanogen boot screen or whatever boot ani is used. It will be very brief but you may have a moment to put it in recovery via adb, this is saying that the three button method does not work, you could always put it into download mode and flash from scratch
Hey,
I need some help. I got an I9000M the other day and have been doing a lot of reading towards rooting and eventually SIM-unlocking the phone.
Currently, with the chainfire root method by installing that kernel through Odin i expected that I would have had a rooted phone.
However, the flashing process was completed successfully and after it was finished, I was supposed to let my phone reboot but its stuck at the black and white galaxy s screen.
What happened?
Perhaps I installed the wrong kernel?...anyways I have no clue. Please help so I can proceed towards my goal.
*Also if I just flash an original firmware will it start me back at where I was from the beginning? That way I can figure out which CF I should have used...
Just pull the battery, 3 button into download mode (Vol Down+Home+Power) and ODIN flash to stock.
Do a little reading and make sure you have the right version.
BUT BEFORE YOU DO ANY OF THAT, pull the battery and see if it starts up. My phone always gets stuck on home screen after an Odin flash and have to battery pull to get it to load.
alright thanks, i flashed to stock and now i am going to try and figure out exactly which CF will work.
Recently picked up a HTC Raider from Rogers, played around with it and decided to root it. Rooted my Acer A500 previously without problems so had some understanding. Had to use supertool to get root as I got errors using the other method in the super guide. Was going to install vjraider rom and did the kernal but now the phone wont boot up. Gets stuck on the white HTC screen. I can get into H-Boot but when I select recovery I get stuck on a screen with a phone and the red triangle exclamation mark. Tried searching around but haven't found anything relating to this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated
sounds to me that you do NOT have recovery on it. did you unlock your bootloader?
Yup bootloader is unlocked. I managed to get it a recovery mood by using fastboot and putting the recovery.img in the ph391img.zip and i got into CWM 5.5.0.4 installed the rom after all the wipes and now I got a boot loop... Im thinking I must have somehow removed the kernel when I used fastboot
Flashed the kernel for the rom again in fastboot and now everything seems to work. Rom is up running with everything seeming good so far.
I have an ASUS Memo 7 ME176C and I messed it up. I have the red android triangle whenever I try to boot up. I did a partial root with the one click root, but I do not have recovery. I was trying to change the boot animation and when I went to restart it, it kept replaying the boot animation until the red triangle android guy showed up. I don't know what to do now. I can boot into "droidboot", but whenever I try to go to recovery the red triangle shows up again.
Hello,
I solved a similar problem following instructions in this

link.
Good luck.
