Is this possible?
To get the market so see apps that were installed using adb install. so that the market will see and update the apps when needed?
Nope. If you want to get updates for your apps that weren't installed via the market, you can download 'aTrackDog' (free from the market) and open it to check if your apps have updates available.
you rock thanks man ATrackDog is what i was looking for.
Since I've updated from modaco's frf72 r18 rom to the latest r19 rom I can't install any apps... not just from the market, but directly from my sd too.
I ideally would like to go back to the stock rom with no mods.

I have factory reset/wiped and reverted to the FRF83 stock rom - and now the majority of apps install. The only apps that won't install are Google apps - like Google Sky Map and Google Earth, and the Mod Install Location app which I really need. Any explanation for this?
I've been having random issues running the same ROM but only apps I try to install from the Market. They'll download then just sit there. Sometimes they will install and sometimes they won't.

I've been getting the exact same thing on FRF50, FRF72 and now FRF83!
I can manually install from SDcard 'Download' when the Market install process stalls after download, but this obviously doesn't then update the app status on Market 'My Downloads'.
I've done the usual clear data form the Market app, reboot & login method to no avail. Very frustrating
Any ideas much appreciated!
This happens to me with apps from my SD card too.

Am running Phiremod 5.1 and am able to use market to find and install apps, but updates are no longer happening. I tried Atrackdog and AppBrain, but which recognize when an app is out of date, but when they go to market to update, I get the "the requested item could not be found." If I manually go to market and search for the app, it will recognize that the desired app needs updating, and it will allow me to update it.
I've tried clearing the Market cache, but this doesn't change the behavior.
Am running market version 2.3.6.
I used to have Market issues on my Froyo ROM but I recently switched to CM7 and have had no issues. Have you tried wiping your Market Cache+Data? If you still can't get it to work PM me and I can get some of the updates for you and send you the APKs.

This is the latest gapps.zip (I think) with latest maps and music, but doesn't have wallet.

I use koush's gapps @ http://download.clockworkmod.com/test/gapps-ics-20111125-2.zip (includes google wallet)
1. Use Titanium backup and convert google maps to a user app (long press maps)
2. market doctor -> deselect all -> find google maps -> doctor that
3. uninstall google maps
4. download google maps
.... and it'll work.
Can't find market doctor on the market
When I try to update I just get an error
Edit I see its an option in titanium but I'm scared to delete because I'm thinking that error will pop back up has anyone done this with success

same here, exact issue
no good maps/gps and can't uninstall and reinstall(DL) from market
maybe a cache issue?
Use the following commands with adb installed...
adb remount
adb shell
su
rm /system/app/Maps.apk
pm uninstall com.google.android.apps.maps
reboot
The issue, I think, lies with ICS
No other roms have this issue for me
I changed to pico from google tts--no issues

in most ROMs the lib files needed for google tts are missing. Just add them and google tts will work.
tried it--didn't work

Anyone ever figure this out? I tried this method, but Maps doesnt show up in Market Doctor when you run it.
UPDATE: nevmind. I think you need to select "Detach from Market" as well, for it to show up in Market Doctor.
ALSO, this doesnt work either. I followed the instructions and it just reverts to the factory 5.11 maps, and then gives error when you update.
I followed the steps and got Maps 6.0.
But I didn't liked it much, force closes like mad, reverted back to 5.0.1 now
I am using onecosmic's ICS rom on my I9000 and it is running fine, however, there is an update for the google+ app available on the market and everytime i try to install it I get the following error:
Package file was not signed correctly.
Uninstall the previous copy of the app and try again.
Other apps install just fine. Is there another way to update? Or is there a way to remove the app as is suggested in the error message? Because I can't remove it using the market or settings (or I just can't find how).
[Update] Managed to uninstall using TB, reboot and reinstall
