If you need some web space, I can give you just that. I have unlimited HDD space on my hosting account, so I can offer you up to 5GB for storing android ROMs via FTP. This is a great offer, as you can backup your ROMs, knowing that you won't have them expire on websites like RapidShare and MediaFire.
The best thing is, it doesn't cost a penny to you! All you need to do is PM me and I'll set things up and get everything rolling.
I offer storage space of 1GB, 3GB and 5GB. If you're lucky, you can get 10GB, only if I'm in a good mood. If you really need more space, pop me coffee money and I'll give you 25GB. That's enough to make dozens of super fast ROMs.
You'd get a URL like: http://cdn.coburndomain.net/android/<YourXDAUsernameHere>/ .
Current List of Users with ROM Storage:
Kiljacken - 10GB
So yeah, there you go devs! Let the requests flow in!
You seem to be in a generous mood is there any reason? gotten laid recently? ;p
Just a joke, always appreciated what you do for our tattoo community...

Hi everyone,
I am sorry for possible offtopic, but I need your help in find new web hosting provider as soon as possible, because my current host (bluehost.com) is kicking me off, they say 'your account is using a lot server resources', but my website gets only about 200 visitors per day and my disk usage is 1500 MB (maybe they do not like that?)
Anyway, what would be your recommendations for getting reliable web hosting? Where are you hosting your websites? Are you happy with your providers?
I am now checking http://www.hosting24.com/ - offer looks very nice, but is it real that they can provide unlimited disk space?
I have contacted them about this question and they say something that "These days 500GB disk drive costs only $30 per month, so if some day we will run out of disk space we will simply add new 500GB disk drive with almost zero costs and you can continue uploading without any problems".
What do you think about it? Maybe things have changed in last 4 years? With my current provider I get only 2GB of disk space for $10 per month..
Any ideas and suggestions are much appreciated.
make sure you read their TOS.
its very possible that they do offer unlimited space in 500gb increments, but there might be a catch to it.
bluehosting.com is what I'm using. Haven't really tested their limits, but I can't complain. Fast, easy to use and comes with a great installer...
People have suggested HostGator to me, plainly because of the masses of voucher codes available online. But like everyone else said, check the TOS.

What kind of a site do you run that would cause so much stress on their servers? HMMMM?

while I havent actually finished our website yet the hosting is working 100%.

I've been satisfied for several years with 1&1.
Hello!
I got some money for Christmas and I want to use it to buy myself some hosting. I wanted to pick HostGator or HostMonster but what I want to do with the space is against their policy.
I need some server space to host all our family pictures with FTP access for everyone to upload their own pictures. We all have a camera and it's a pain in the butt to reunite all the pictures after the holidays especially with my parents not being together.
I'll also host my Wordpress blog on it so I need some bandwidth (about 70 clicks a day, nothing bad).
Anyone has a good host to suggest?
try godaddy, perfect

agree, my friend have ever offer me wit this one of web hosting..
Bluehost doesn't allow personal file hosting. :S
N1c0_ds how is whatever you're going to do against hostgator policy? I have to tell you now. Hostgator has the BEST customer service of them all. THE BEST. no joke. I love it. Would never give it up. I would use it until they actually tell you that you can't use it, which they probably won't.
use one of the following:
myjethost.com
1-nethost.co.uk
I am sure that myjethost.com will give you unlimited space and extra features if you tell them that i told you to sign up. Also i might get them to give you a discount of upto 50% or more.
My PayPal account went unverified and I can't do anything about it without a credit card. I guess I'll have to wait before I get a new web host for my blog and Gecko.
Unlike dropbox, the app Minus offers 10gigs of free space!
Minus offers 10gigs of free space, unlike dropbox and zumodrive. I just wanted to share the application with my XDA friends! Here's the link!

SO Enjoy
@rajverma nice find
Another alternative is SugarSynch.com which offers 5gb free.
Also for those that have their own storage/server somewhere this is what i did.
I used iqbox-svn as synch software on the clients and VisualSVN As software for the server.
It doesn't have any web interface or recovery like dropbox has but heck it's all free and if you got the space/server might as well utilize it.
Ps: Sry for thread jacking
omg, i rly think i will use this!
i just registered.. with one single step, without even a need of email!!
holy ****, all registrations should be that fast xD
Minus.com is taking over the world
Seriously though, it seems to be a far superior alternative to Dropbox. Good for hosting files too, with no Bandwidth limitations. I'm sure a lot of people here will use it to share their dev work.
Thumbs up from me!
CX also offers 10GB free space and it works on all phone / desktop models just like dropbox
this minus, only works for android, iphone, and windows
not as useful as the other 2
Nah man, I'm good with dropbox. These alternatives come with a catch of MINUS the features.
nice, almost filled my dropbox, thanks
meh
it is a lot more initial storage, but i have almost 16gbs free on dropbox from referrals. on top of the reliability and capabilities of dropbox, i find everything i need satisfied that way.
That is a nice find. Is there a way to organize the files with folders like Dropbox?
The big selling point of dropbox is not the size of the space but the ease of use. Their app works easy, site works easy, etc.
I gave sugarsync a try and their website was some CSS/javascript clusterfuck, everything required loading and had to be fancy. Dropbox on the other-hand is a simply file tree, and everything is right there.
Sounds interesting. I will give them a try. Thanks
I simply created an ftp server using iis on my pc and made the root directory a folder on my 1tb storage hard drive. Than used dns redirrection on my website to have it a named server ftp.
Though not all people have the resources i LOVE it.
I have as many files/movies as i need at my disposal on my phone and can link without the worry of getting my links shut down.
Sorry if i'm a little off topic i just thought i'd throw my 2ยข in.
I thought google was doing something similar ????
How is the upload and download speeds

What about resume support?
Yep, I've been on minus for a few days, and I like it more than Dropbox. Got 12 gigs, and if you want more storage use my referral link in my sig. Both of us will get an extra gig.

Depends on ur ISP really.
that is quite generous of them to give 1gb per referral, I think dropbox only gives 0.25gb.

That's what it used to be - don't know about now.
A bunch of us shared folders on Dropbox for Co0kie's Home Tab development work, testing, graphics etc.. I got mine up to 10GB in no time.

It's still one gig. I got my boss to sign up. I have 14gb now
SkyDrive FTW
25GB for free, and no limit for Office files and photos! 5GB can be sync'ed.
And all you need is a Live ID or Hotmail account.
I am disappointed in the recent megaupload downfall.. The stuff XDA had links to were roms for our devices which certainly wasn't illegal to host. Anyway, I can't do much, but I have a web server sitting in a server room at no charge to me. I have a few roms I downloaded, and I wanted to make a basic site. I would like to add more to this, so.. help me get some more stuff on this site.. Also, I am open to suggestions on improvement and any assistance one may be able to provide. I understand there are other free providers like megaupload, but they are riddled with copyrighted material as well which may kill them too, so hopefully I can do a little here to attempt to make a difference (or until my boss yells at me about maxing out the bandwidth supporting a community from a single server on a 10Mb pipe..).
Right now there is only Atrix and Optimus V stuff on it, I just half-assed it together at work.. and am pretty busy.. so I will post as much as I can when I can..
Hmm, a 10Mbit pipe.. Guess that will be not enough to host Rom's for a popular site as XDA is. If only 100 people will download at the same time, the speed will only be 12,5 KB/s
Nevertheless it is a good thing that you want to support the community!
I would tend to think it wouldn't take long for the 10MB pipe to be completely saturated with the amount of people that are on xda.
I agree but at least someone can get some good use out of it.. I expected significant traffic once there was a better list of software on it..
I'm thinking 20 seconds... But they are available for those who need it.. I would love to lease from akamai or something of the likes.. But I have enough trouble paying bills as it is!
Dropbox is testing a beta of their auto-upload of photos and videos feature. For each 500MB of upload you get an additional 500MB of free space up to 4.5GB. See link below for details.

Do you know if you can keep this extra space for free, long-term? I can't say it's better, but I already have 50 GB on Box.net, so I'm wondering if it's worth the trouble.

Sounds like you're covered.
I on the other hand use Dropbox for a lot of stuff even though I have an "unlimited" Amazon cloud drive account (from work). To answer your question about if you get to keep the space after the beta-test; I believe you do according to what I've read on their forum and on sites like Gizmodo.
Awesome, thanks
