Anyone got WinCe Cab Manager running on 64bit Windows 7 - Off-topic

Hey all, I've been using a 32bit version of Windows 7 for a while now, however last night, I decided I would completely wipe my hardrive and start fresh, and so I though, considering I have 4gb of ram, I would go to 64bit. However Ive just been reinstalling all my applications, and it seems Win Ce Cab Manager is only comptible with 32bit operating systems.... Surely not everyone who makes cabs on this site is running 32 bit Have any of you found any solutions to running a 32bit program like Win Ce on a 64bit os like windows 7?
Thanks in advance

32bit programs DO work on a 64bit OS, they get installed into a different program files folder (Program Files x86).
I have WinCE Cab Manager working fine on my Windows 7 64bit.

Worked on Vista 64 + 7 64 can you please explain what doesn't work?
Have you installed MSXML 4.0
I'm not back to XP Pro SP3 as had .ico issues with Windows 7 yep get 3GB of RAM but the overheads are so low that it's not comparable and it just works

Yeah most seem to, however when I run the setup I get this error:
Code:
The instillation/removal of a previous program was not completed. You will need to restart your computer to complete the installation.
After restarting your computer, run Setup again to complete the installation of WinCE CAB Manager
However I still get the error when I restart. And then I found [this] which made me assume that it wasnt compatible?
Ive tried running the setup in compatibility mode, no luck.

MSXML 4.0 is essential you may also find that you need to update .net 3.5 can't mem about if 7 needed it but i had a very similar error when didn't have both noted.

Windows 7 build 7057

Did anyone tried to install Windows 7 build 7057. This is the newest version which is available now on the world wide web. Currently I am running Windows 7 build 7000 on my HTC Shift. Maybe someone can tell me how the update function is working from 7000 to 7057.
And how can i delete the message "Evaluation copy. Build 7057.winamin.090305-2000". I could try some old versions but i don't know if that is working.

haven't tried it.. I have tried 7000-7022-7048.. but not the 7057... until there is a really interesting new thing in Win 7, I won't change the version .. 7048 has everything working fine for me.. and so should be 7057.
I don't know how to remove the trademark.. but I know it was possible with vista... I guess it is the same for 7.. just look on some forums
I just installed it today........so far so good
All function with this build is ok!!!
Wifi - bluetooth - shagctrl - internet share from snapvue - resolution changer.
Not working for the two button of resolution changer and shagctrl, only via software!!
I haven't tried in Shift... but working on the Toshiba-M700... as such the build is fine. It is good

So all themes including aero is working with both resolutions 800x480 and 1024x600?
and how about activating.. does it work with this version too or does it expire after 30 days?
Control panel is working very well for windows 7057. The resolution changer isnt.
Unfortunately the 'classic theme' has been removed from windows 7. Right now I am having a lot of trouble with the blue screen. I cannot switch back to 800x480 after I've changed the screen resolution because there is no classic mode i chould switch to.

all themes exist in Win7.. you just need to select the correct one (at the bottom of page).
if you have issue, just press F8 at start and choose to run windows in VGA mode.. which is 640x480 and then choose 800x480 in windows.
everything works perfect for me except the BSOD with 1024+AERO.
all buttons works.
Windows 7 Migration to build 7057
Thanx for all these reactions!
After reading this messages i decided to upgrade my system.
So this morning i tried to upgrade my Windows 7 (build 7000) to Windows 7 (build 7057).
I had Windows 7 installed with the Step-by-step guide for installing Windows 7 beta1 instructions.
After installation i didn't have any problems at all. All my settings and documents are there!
The one problem that is still existing is the videodriver. With the upgrade the videodrivers are installed again from Windows. After installation of the HTC Driver the resolutionchanger is working again. Of course without Aero.
The only thing that i can't solve is removing the Evalution copy watermark. Can someone help me with this?
Update:
Touch screen is not working. Had to reinstall the software (EC and Touchdriver)

So there is no solution for higher resolution and Aero? An alternate driver or reg tweak?

At the moment there is no solution to this problem. Why would you even want to run aero with only 64MB dedicated video memory...
If the function is there I want it nevermind the productivity I used to say until Vista came...not important but teh basic theme is ugly.
Hello guy.
Since I installed the 7057 I have problems with the sd. The shift can not read the sd card. Someone has the same problem?

I try with a different memory card, a lot of cards and I try to reinstall vista. Sd works on vista. Also when I insert the sd on seven 7057 wi fi stops working. In your opinion may depend from the ROM that I installed on WM side?
Thanks deadnex.

It doesn't have anything to do with what ROM version you are using on WM side. Try changing the power option to "high performance" in Win7. If that doesn't work you could try to rollback the driver (in case you installed a new driver through windows update)
Hope this is helpful

Flashing usinng Windows 7?

Recently got an Xperia X1 and now i want to flash it.
Been reading the threads here, but i've got some questions.
1. Anyone flashed using Windows 7? Anything specific i should have in mind?
2. Should i simply just get a computer with XP/Vista before flashing?
3. How do i format the MicroSD card? Can't do it from my computer, do i need an external reader for it?
Thank you in advance.
You can't flash windows 7, completely different operating system designed to run on a different processor. Look at the available roms, and there are several flashing guides on this forum.

Yes, i meant that my PC is running Windows 7.
But i guess there are other ways to flash than to use the SD card, or are they more unsafe to use?

Hi
Very simple. I'm Using WIn 7 Ultimate on my laptop. When I connected my X1i to it it automatically downloaded WMDC (same as used in Win Vista). and it works similar to Win Vista
No problems at all.
Syncs well with outlook. I/ve tested WM 6.5 as well as WM 6.1 both on the same.

Droid Explorer Doesn't open

Alright, I had windows 7 but then I had my graphics card fail (its being RMA'd) so I went ahead and formated back into Windows Xp Pro SP3 and in Windows 7 Droid Explorer opened just fine and no problems. Now in XP when I try to open it it gave me a bogus error, I knew what it was so I installed .Net Framework. Now when I double click the install file it doesn't open at all.
Any reason why this isn't working?
XP is an awesome operating system, its fast and deff not as much of a resource hog as Vista, 7 is good though.
Make sure its not running in the background. alt+ctrl+del and make sure its not running (setup.exe or w/e)
Droid Explorer
Make sure you have .NET Framework 3.5 with Sp1.

can't install apps, connection error

Hey guys and gals, I'm having a problem with installing apps to wp7. I have xbmod rom, and when I want to send an app to device it says something about that device is not connected. But it is, and it has cert installed via email. Zune is up, and Dev tolls installed...
I just want to install Facebook and youtube. nothing else... Can I put xap files in rom and than do an automatic install at first startup?
please help
fixed, I installed Vista on virtual machine, and it worked... so, I guess the fault is either in operating system (win 7 64bit) or some installed software are doing conflicts (not skype or firewall nor AV)
So, mod can lock this.
hey am having the same problem, can you tell me how you did it
like more info?
thanks

As I was getting connection errors in my Win 7 64bit, in chevorn, app deployment software, tom xap etc. I just installed Windows Vista 32bit (Sp2- important) on virtual machine (vmware or virtualbox, whichever you prefer) and then I installed Windows Phone development tools in that windows, and that's it. App deployment works, chevron works... everything works as charm.
As I sad, I guess that our installations of Windows have some software that blocks ports, in my case, I'm pretty sure that port 443 was open, but something else was interfering with connection of HD2.
So fresh install of Windows or even better Windows on virtual machine is the real solution. because nothing else worked till this.
Hope I helped someone with this. Mods can put this information is some sticky tutorials about connection problem.
Good Luck

[Q] how to get QXDM to install on windows 7

how do you get QXDM to install on windows 7? Ive tried multiple versions but they always fail on install asking for IE 5.0 or IE6.0 or greater, when I have IE10 installed. Any ideas?
I've read that if you run in windows 95 mode and disable windows features that it works.
Edit: you could always create a vm with windows xp. Also look for a internet explore 5 install. Try that. I know it sounds stupid but maybe internet explorer 7 and up changed the way it explores
Edit edit: which version do you have? Use .12 or later and make sure your internet explorer is set as default. *found on some forum* this is useful because I've had the same issue with a different program back in the early days of windows 7.

If you got "QXDM need ie6 or later error" when try to install it on windows 7 64bit, here is the solution that works for me:

Then try to install QXDM now, try with admin if you still got error.
