Is there a way to add some notification tone for message?
coz i want to have my own tone on messages that i will receive..
is it possible?
I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean a custom notification for received messages? It should be configurable in the default messaging app, but I'm not completely sure since I use handcent SMS which allows you to customize the notification sounds and a bunch of other stuff.

so i must use handcent messaging for me to have my custom tone?
You can create a new folder on your sd card -> DCIM -> media - > audio -> notifications and put your customs notifications in this folder.
You can do the same for your ringtones and alarms by creating new folder on your sd card -> DCIM -> media -> audio -> ringtones and alarms
You will be able to find them in your message app settings.
Hope it helps you
PS : sorry for my bad English

hi there, can anyone helpme, i want change the default ringtone for calls and for sms's. Do i have to change something in the registry???
Thanks
Andres
No, go to start--settings--sounds and notifications--notifications--then choose which sound you want to change and change it. If you want to add your own ringtones then transfer it to the phone and find it using the above method...scroll down the list and click to use it.
Next time read the manual...it will tell you how to do certain things.
Settings > Sounds > Advanced
Choose the Notifications tab
Pick the Event - ie 'Messaging - New SMS Alert' and set 'Ring Tone' as you want.
If you have a custom Ringtone, you can simply use File Explorer and find the file... hold the stylus / finger on the file and choose 'Set As Ringtone'
Already did it but ringtones only works for Incoming Calls, not for New SMS
Solved, if you want to change for a custom ringtone for SMS, Email or something different of Phone Call all you have to do is copy and paste the custom ringotne on to c:\windows and then select it from: Settings > Sounds > Notifications tab.
Thanks to all for your support.

I want to add a custom ringtone to my handcent sms messaging app so that when i recieve a text it plays what i want it to play.. but i went to notification settings and it wont let me select anything i want to select only the default selections.. can anyone help???
Handcent doesn't support custom tones?
in Handcent under settings<notification settings < notification sound , there is no option to select an "other..." tone... however I can't remember if you make a really short tone if it will show up on that menu...
How can I change the SMS delivery tone? More specific, I want to remove it (but keep the notification).
As far as I know, it's possible to change it with Handcent but I want to keep my normal SMS app.
get tone picker from the market its free.. you can set any notification with it

I'm only able to change default ringtone and default notification tone with that.
I've actually solved it now. Not specifically changing the delivery notification tone, but I've made it silent.
I've set the SMS tone to silent and installed SMS Popup to add a new tone for SMS messages. So I'm happy now even though it would be nice to be able to actually have a different tone for the delivery notifications too.
Not happy anymore, my solution made two notifications come up for every message (even though the standard notification was silent).
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
not sure if this is the right answer..
under Sounds and Display -> Notification Ringtone -> select "Silent"
Is it only me or is it not Possible to select custom notification tones?

I am able to set it as ringtone or SMS tone, in the settings, but in the settings for notification tone the option simply isn't there. Even if I put the file in the notifications folder with file explorer it isn't given as an option

Try using 3rd party app. I personally use Ringtone Setter, which bypasses system's limitations.

Yea I have done that now. It's just strange that on the ringtone and SMS tone settings there is an option at the top of the list to use"local ring tone", but on notification tone that option is absent. The option does appear when you use a third party app to set the tone and then go back in to the notification tone settings, but it is greyed out, so it still says "use local ring tone" and shows the new tone as selected, but as it is greyed out you still can't modify it in the settings like you can with SMS tone and ringtone. Probably just a bug, I can't imagine any reason for into be like that by design.
I use Solid Explorer to copy notification tone mp3 to system/media/audio/notifications(must be rooted) rename ext to .ogg (not sure if this is necessary) change attributes to Group and Global (-rw-r--r--) reboot and your good to go!

Tried your suggestion, not working.
I am on OnePlus 3T Orio Os5.
I try to set my Gmail notification to a custom notification. I tried you way and got the notification to appear in the notification list, even hear it as its chosen, but when Gmail gives the incoming mail notification its not that one but one of the original ones.

If you mean to change the sound any particular app makes for notifications, on all Android devices, just long-press the notification that you want to change the sound of, and you should be able to see where to change the notification sound for that particular app from there.
Internal storages, Notifications folder: if you want to add songs for your tablet you need to add them there
Settings notifications then in "recently sent" press more then press an app and press notification categories then press in every text you see . You have to press on the words like in Yahoo mail " emails from people "
Greetings
