My phone lately stopped downloading and updating apps in the market. I've tried to wipe cache and dalvik to no avail. I read about signing out of Google Talk, but it wouldn't let me. Is there any other way to fix this issue without clean wipe?
forget it.. much faster to solve my problem with a full wipe..
u gettin an error saying that u have insufficient storage space? cause the same thing is happening with me. ive wiped like 3 times but it still doesnt download or update my apps. im using Chromatic 3.6 currently. i was using Cyanogen 5.0.8 DS before and had the same error message.
no there wasnt an error on my phone. my wife's dream had that problem with insufficient storage even after multiple wipes.. i followed someone's advice to wipe in fastboot instead of recovery and that worked. i already wiped and reinstalled everything, so i no longer have the market problem. it just came out of nowhere.

I asked about the problems on my wife's phone in this thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6917983#post6917983
So far her insufficient memory problem and FCs are gone other than 1 weird power down. Wouldn't charge or turn on until I pulled the battery.

this is getting off topic and her issue has been already resolved in the other thread i linked.
for the record, she was on 5.0.7 stable before i put 5.0.8 on her rogers/htc dream. i doubt the rom was the problem. i tried recovery wipes and fix permissions, but nothing worked until i wiped everything from fastboot.

ever since updating to the cyanogen 4 series of roms i have been getting 3g issues. by this i mean that sometimes it doesnt want to connect to the internet from any program, like the market, google voice, or the browser. sometimes it does work, but sometimes i have to reboot the phone or just turn off 3G in order to browse the web. i am running haykuros spl with apps2sd with a 800mb ext4 partition. and im running the latest cyan mod.
can any one assist me in this?
what can i do to fix this?
do i need a new g1?
I dunno if wipe helps have you tried that? boot into recovery, wipe (alt+w)
if not, jacxrom is a good alternative to cyan, i guess...
but chances are your phone's hardware itself is fine, and you won't need a new one.

has anyone else experienced this and how did u fix it?
ive had the same thing happening lately. i had it happen tonight with just my edge connection i had to reset the phone. I also just wiped and reformatted my sd card for a linux-swap partition before flashing this rom so i know that isnt the problem.

Try re-installing the radio.
I had to do a second wipe after installed to fix the 3g problem. Since then I haven't noticed any problems

I dunno if this is related, but Ive been having bluetooth issues since the latest few updates, bluetooth has never been perfect for me, but when I listen to mp3s over bluetooth it almost constantly stutters, like its dropping the BT connection, because the music seems to have been going on playing while I don't hear anything.
what is with all these questions in the wrong forum? where is Mikey when you need him?

Mod request to delete thread: fix for BT and 3G issues
1. power down the unit with the red key. Wait a minute. Power back up.
2. Try reinstalling the radio
3. Try reinstalling the ROM, and then reinstall the radio again
5. You shouldn't have to, but wipe, re-create (not just reformat) your ext# partition (you can back it up and refill it, but occaisionally stuff gets left behind) reinstall the ROM, wipe, install again, install the radio, full power cycle.
5. (Last) post your issue
This actually belongs in the ROM forum, but not until these basics have been tried.

i tried this but still no cigar,
=[
I don't believe this to be a problem with a ROM or radio. I've had similar connection issues recently. i noticed it after flashing a Hero Theme to Cyan 3.9somethin. I thought the rom might have been the cause of the issue but a buddy of mine that i work with has a stock G1 and has similar connection issues. Also a customer came into the store who had a Samsung Highlight with similar problems, i figured it was a problem on Tmobile's End. It still hasn't fixed itself so i plan to give customer service a call in the morning and see if they have any resolutions or if its a recognized issue. I'll post back with what i get tomorrow.

okay, i just did a clean install of cognition 2.1.4 (took phone back to stock, rooted, then did a new install of it) ... and everything seems to be working okay other then i can not get my SD to mount on computer ...
it comes up asking me what way i would like the USB to connect when plugged in but after i select the correct one .. and then access the pull down menu to mount the drives it just does not give me the selection to do so ...
am i overlooking a step? something that is maybe different from the normal way to do it?

I've had this happen before, but generally a phone reboot will fix it- occasionally the problem is related to my USB port and I have to switch too. It's a really intermittent issue, but I haven't heard anyone else reporting that they're experiencing this consistently using the new Cog

If no, maybe try toggling around the settings. If you've got Kies installed make sure it isn't running, double check that it's in Mass Storage mode, etc. Reflashing would really be a last resort

do have kies installed, but it is not running ... have usb set on phone to ask each time i connect ... select mass storage mode ... tried setting it as default with no luck ... turned debugging on and back off ...
tried 2 other ports on computer and a second cable ...
so far 0 luck .. it works fine before i flash to Cog .. then it just stops for me ... i see that USB is connected on phone .. but it will not let me click on it to bring up the mount / dismount window ...
already did a reflash .. this is the issue i was having (along with a missing android keyboard) with my last install so i made sure it was a clean one this time ...

Weird =/ If you've tried all that and it still isn't working I'm not sure what to think. Obviously it's tied to Cog, though I'm not sure why others haven't reported the issue- and this is new with the 2.1.4 version? Did prior versions work?

If you feel like troubleshooting it, I suppose that would be a decent way to go. I'll keep my ear to the ground about this to see if anyone else has the same problem. If I think of anything else I'll let you know!
I just asked around a bit, apparently Reefermattness had an issue like this, he resolved it by reformating the internalSD through the phone

hmmm wasnt aware you could do that without royally screwing up stuff.
Turn debugging on. Do not choose a connection type; that just forces you to turn debugging off first. Connect USB, pull down notifications, and choose the one that says something like click to download files (not near computer now so I can't check).

Woot! that works for me as well ... had changed back to 2.1 so was starting to think something was wrong with the phone... so updated back to 2.1.4 and still had issue .. but using those steps works fine.

Nope, won't screw anything up, it'll just delete whatever contents you've stored on your internalSD (Not to be confused with your NAND where your OS and apps are installed)
Edit: Glad the steps posted by mobius worked!
ahhh ok thanks for the clarification .. i wasn't sure if it was safe to delete some stuff off the internal SD ... but now i see it is ... it may affect an app or two though when doing so ... but not the os it's self...

Yeah some apps tend to default to save some of their data to the internalSD (Camera/Titaniumbackup) but will store most of their mission critical data to the NAND, so at worst you'd lose game saves, pictures, or titanium backup data that you could recreate afterwards
Hi. I would post this in froyomod topic but i can't because i'm new and stuff.
I know a lot of people have the exact opposite problem, but after i upgraded my froyomod to 2.7 my wi-fi won't turn off anymore.
I mean, i can turn it off but after a while it turns back on again. Even when the device is locked. I wouldn't mind my wi-fi on 24/7 but sometimes i need my phone for the whole day and if wi'fi is always on my battery won't last half the day.
Does anyone else have this problem? can it be fixed?
Thanks in advance!
Try flashing the Rom again and wiping both Cache Partition and
Dalvik cache. If it don't work, do a Nandroid backup and then a Factory reset and see what happens. If the problem is fixed, restore the Nandroid, make a backup of everything that's important and then do the factory reset again. This way you don't lose anything.
I tried flashing the rom again and the problem is still there, and since it was pissing me off i went back to froyomod 2.6, but guess what? My wi-fi turns on by itself on that version too...
So i guess the problem is on my device. I should try another rom and see how it goes.
Also, i did reset all the data and tried everything. This is really pissing me off.
Sounds like you have y5 on an ext partition

Sorry, but what does that mean? Can i fix it? I even tried formatting my SD Card completely but it didn't work. I had the same problem in all the roms i used.
Ah ok. That's pretty weird.
Y5 is an app that automatically connects to wifi networks but there is no setting to disable it.

This is really weird since the only apps i use are facebook, twitter, and some others that don't update automatically.
Anyways, thanks for the help. I give up.
Hello,
It has been a while I touched my G1 as it stopped working. Back then I rooted it to Cyanogenmod. All worked fine until it came up with the problem of the sdcard that was 'damaged' what was wrong. So I decided to unroot it and install the 1.5 custom firmware again. When I did that all worked fine untill I came at the point of the setup screen. After the account setup I had to slide my keyboard back in. That is what suddenly stopped working, so I can't get any further from that point on. I still have the install files on my sdcard and I click home + on to get in the update flash menu and tried to reinstall. Without any luck. I hope people have experienced this problem and know how to fix it!
Please help!
thanks!

Thanks, but didnt work like stated in the topic itself. I cannot bypass it. The slide in + touchscreen just stops working after i signed into my account. Please someone help!
Do you charge your G1 with a third party charger?
I have heard from other people and experienced this myself that, when you charge it with certain chargers, the touchscreen will stop working, device becomes slower and unresponsive. After I remove the charger everything goes back to normal.
you could possibly jus have a bad download file... try re-downloading than re-flash the update.zip

For the charger thing, ive always used the original charger. And the download file, I downloaded all the htc dream cyanogenmod files all gives the error of no signature when i try to flash. And then I downloaded the official software of the htc website, and thats now giving me the same error.

maybe try to repartition your sd card and do a complete wipe of system data, cache, dalvik cache, sd partition, battery stats and rotate thing.. then go to repair sd.. after all that try to install again..? if none of this works than i would try un-rooting.. what radio and hboot do you have? power on with camera+power
So I've been having this strange problem and I am convinced there is no simple solution. Every time I wipe date and install a rom, I try to sign in to the Google account during setup, and I keep getting an error saying that there was a problem communicating with Google servers. I've done a factory reset, formatted everything, tried different RUUs, and nothing seems to work. I just can't sign in on a Sense 5.5 rom. So now I want to clear the phone completely, because there must be something that no form of wiping is touching. A stock RUU can't solve the problem and I don't know what can. I even tried using LTE instead of WiFi and still no luck. Does anyone have any clue about this?

But I have wiped everything including internal storage and used usb-otg to install roms. Nothing works. Are you sure that will fix this?
EDIT: Can confirm that your recommendation doesn't work for me. I decided to flash a different rom (InsertCoin) and in this one I can sign in, but it won't sync, it just keeps saying "Google Sync error."

It did the trick for me. Also, I mount system in recovery before doing anything. I'm pretty new to this phone and never used any recovery except 4ext on my Desire and Evo so I can't be 100% sure, leaving data did the trick for me
I've tried a few new things so far. I used the mkfs.ext4 file to format the data partition as I think that's where the source of the issue lies. But I also used fastboot to format system. If this doesn't work then I don't know what else to to. I might be forced to run a GPe rom or some other android rom. I just strongly prefer sense.

That's when you can't enter the bootloader anymore. You hold the power button and the lights on the bottom don't flash and it'll just vibrate a bit. But it's all good I got the phone replaced today. So then I installed the rom I was trying to install earlier (the one where I couldn't sign in to google) and I ended up having the same issue. So I think I'm gonna just use ARHD or something.
