So I decided to check for a prl update and it updated my prl from 60665 to 60667. My friend did a prl update on his Hero but his is still at 60665. Did anyone else get this new prl? ;o
Edit: I'm getting better reception now since the new prl.
Just updated mine and got the same number as you.

Located in PA and yes just updated from 60665 to 60667, seems to have improved my signal at the house. Will have to test it out in known weak area's to see if it is any better
Prl update and still on 60665
Shucks, I guess I'm not as cool as you two XD
667 here............
Only one of five whose still on 665
Shhhhh-blah.
Pshh It's good enough for me
Once again this prl not only makes my radio pull more but it seems to affect battery life. I guess i have to roll back now.
its made my signal stronger and battery life last longer... normally at my house im between -98 - -100dBm now im anywhere between -90 - -101dBm lol... so battery's lasted me somewhat a tiny bit longer... I took it off the charger at 1pm, it's now 5pm and i have 71% left
To everyone havinf issues getting 60667:
Sometimes you have to tell it to update more than once (It's taken me up to five tries before). Update your profile, too. I don't know why it helps, but it seems to. I always do this:
Update profile ->
Update PRL->
Repeat until I get the update.

With the unholy father ofcourse. O:

Haha... Listen - I used to work for Sprint on the network. PRL = Preferred Roaming Lists and is in a nutshell an updated list of towers in your immediate area along with some other information such as which neighboring towers your call can hand off to and under what circumstances (power levels, traffic congestion levels, etc.).
You're not necessarily going to automatically see some REALLY GREAT coverage improvement just by updating this. The reason some of you will and some of you won't is pretty simple: Geographical location. Maybe your neighborhood got a new tower (on Sprint's profit margins [well, now Ericsson actually since THEY maintain the network] there aren't very many new towers going up in a hurry), or maybe the RF Engineer for your area identified a problem or an expanded coverage need and tried to tweak the BTS (cell tower) parameters to improve coverage in that particular area. When the RF Engineer makes changes to parameters they are uploaded to a central location where when your phone either resets or is updated (PRL update) it gets the new PRL sent to it.
If your area had nothing changed... expect to see nothing different. )
If your neighbor just got a new monopole erected in his backyard and he's leasing it to Ericsson for $4k+ /mo. and beaming out airwaves, well then you can expect to notice a HUGE difference.
In the end, it's never a bad idea to do a PRL update manually once in awhile anyhow - especially if you're travelling out of your normal area. Doing so will get you optimal coverage for the area you're currently in. If you ever have signal issues - try the PRL update just for good measure, but don't hold your breath.
Careful with this one. A guy on PPC said he lost his evdo when he updated. Not sure about the credibility but thought Id put it out there.
This happens sometimes briefly when you refresh the PRL list (loss of EVDO), particularly if it's on a busy cell tower. If it happens, rebooting your phone brings it back right away (heck you can even turn "Mobile" off & back on again and it should bring it back). If not, then move to another location where you'll be on a different tower.

I am running on AT&T with no problems except where I live(very rural). My Blackberry Curve would get 2 bars with no dropped calls. I really like my G1 but I get from "0" bars to "2" bars depending where I'm in my home and phone either gives me "no service" when dialing or just drops some of the calls. Also, takes forever to complete dialed number.
Is there anything I can do to improve performance at home?
Many Thanks,
Stan
have you updated your radio to the 26I Radio?
To expand on what Bman said, if you have rooted your phone, please go to Settings > About phone and check the the radio ends in '26I'.
Followup ? on reception
I bought the phone used and it had 1.5, don't know if anything else done such as "rooting".
When I went into "settings" I now find it says its 1.6, but I couldn't see anything about changing radios.
Any further help?

Sorry I should have been a little more explicit. The radio is also know as the baseband. Sounds like your phone is running the official update, not much we can do in that case... (What I mean is, if it was rooted it might have the wrong radio firmware installed, as yours is official it will be up to date.)
Many thanks, I'll guess I'll have to wait for closer tower

Well I don't know what to make of this. I went back to a stock recovery image. Manually downloaded the a EBF54B images zip, fastboot flashed all the images, then manually applied the FRF85B update...
Well my 3G (in Salt Lake) is all screwed up, 3G icon appears, but can't get any damn data. Browser not working, martket doesn't work, can't sync.
I was originally running a rooted version of FRF85B that someone had provided and was having major issues with the Froyo radio as well yesterday.
Anyone else on AT&T hating life? 2G seems to work just fine.
EBF54B seems to sign in and work fine too.
I should mention this seems to be partially intermittent. A page will occasionally start to load and then stop and die, a speedtest (speedtest.net app) will start and then just time out... and then report 0.

Well this didn't improve anything. Maybe there is some network issue here. Thing that worried me is that I asked an AT&T friend to check their data and theirs worked.
Damn.
Well I'll have to try at home and see if I'm not just experiencing some localized data issue.
On a side not, that so called universal update you linked me, well it says FRF85B in my phone info so I don't see what the difference is.
I think my phone is busted. No change or improvement based on location. Data is just DAO. Says it's connected, has full signal, but mostly just times out, or doesn't do anything at all.

I did this, it was set to wideband preferred.
For a luagh, I tried putting the EPE54B radio on it (left FRF85B on it), and it's still messed up.
It will cut in an out during a speedtest (still with full bars) and most of the time just time out and puke.
Browser is also highly intermittent. Usually data stops flowing before I can get more than web page to load.
Any more ideas?
Changing the radio didn't help.

Do you use SwitchPro Widget?
I was on FRF72, and went to FRF85B, I thought everything was ok till I went out earlier today, I got NO data at all, no edge or 3g, icons wouldn't show up.
Tried 2G only, didn't work, also checked that WCDMA PREFERRED was selected. Nothing.
Did a nandroid back to FRF72 and all was fine.
So I nandroid back again to FRF85B, WIPED, and redid my phone, and 3G works great.

SwitchPro had me thinking my phone was dead yesterday after an update killed everyone's 3g.
This is issue is on a stock FRF85B. No apps other than default, and my restored bookmarks.
Same problem. 100% stock no root or unlock. 3G icon shows up and down activity but pages wont always load and browser and apps that use internet constantly lag. On WiFi the issue isn't there.

i have been having same problem my radio is 4.06.00.12_7 (if needed) cant seem to get any download speed when useing 3g. edge works just fine. could use some help cause i rely on data.
My problem seems better today, but I am still experiencing severe intermittent data.
Full signal, 3G... it's almost like the data connection just goes to sleep and won't wake up again.
If you refresh the web page a few times, after a few minutes it finally comes back, but then all of a sudden, about 30 second to a minute into loading a page, it just stops...
The problem is in Maps and Market to... it starts to load... stops... or sometimes won't start at all, like maps won't start loading tiles.
Very frustrating.

My 3 week old stock unrooted N1 seems to have lost 3G as well after the Froyo FRF85B update last night.
No signal problem as I live right next to a tower which provides me with a very strong signal and 3G always worked solid with Eclair. Pulled out the sim and placed it in my Nokia E71 a couple of times today to check the network and I have plenty of 3G data speed so I don't think it's an ATT issue.
If I click on 'use 2G only' in the settings, Edge seems to be working fine. Just no 3G. I could see from the data "stats" app that a few kb/s must have transferred through 3G in the past 24 hours but I'm not sure as it's useless for anything else that requires data.
I've spent the last 8 hours messing with my phone and googling a fix to no avail. I found this thread to see that someone else has this unfortunate problem as well, sigh. I hope there's a fix out there somewhere.
To say I'm been gutted is an understatement

Does anyone know what the changes are in FRG83? I can't seem to find an official changelog, but perhaps enough people have spotted differences that we can cobble together a list of changes?
I think it was only patch to universal root.
I'm pretty sure it's more than that. At the very least it seems to have fixed the issue plaguing some N1 owners where wifi would not reconnect after the phone was woken up.
That being the case, perhaps it's also improved the 3G reception...?
Wifi never sleep fixed.
SSL issue with exchange fixed
Androot broken.
Those are what I noticed.

That route only works if you have a clue when the source was compiled. Otherwise you are shooting in the dark wondering when this went from beta to final. (which can take weeks of testing before its moved to production).

I recently flashed the (Unofficial) PAC Man ROM over night, and noticed my signal bars were blank. I have 4G (It says sometimes) but when I check my signal strength, it's 0 dBm 99 asu. It can see my Network, says I'm in service, and gives me my IMEI number. However, my phone number is unknown. I'll upload screenshots, and will answer questions (Obviously) if need be. (Note: I can't post in the dev forms, as I don't have enough posts, thought I have PM'd Skeevy about the bug. ROM runs fine otherwise ) Thanks in advance.

I did have a problem today that all my roms I flashed to had no service. No matter what I did... No bars and WIFI couldn't even be turned on.
End result fix was to flash back to ATT stock US rom through RSD. Then putting CWM back through fastboot and then my customs worked fine. I'm sure it was something dumb I did that caused it, but with an unlocked bootloader, I have no fear of trying anything

Honestly, I think it has something to do with the way 4G LTE is encoded with the ROM. I've flashed stock, gone back and installed CWM and re-flashed PAC and still had the issue. But It still works, I just don't get signal bars, with 0bdm and 99ASU all the time so yeah. 3G and HSPA+ work flawlessly. If I have HSPA+ and 3G I'm fine lol.
Now that GPS is pretty much figured out, which is what I've been focused on, I'll start looking at the stock build.prop and and compare it to PAC's. Should give me some insight to the 4g issues.
I wasn't aware that all 4.2 roms had the signal issue. I see it on PAC maybe once a day and its gone within 5 minutes. I'm not 100% positive, but I think it has to do with wifi. When ever I notice a wifi issue like it not connecting as fast as it should, sure enough the grey icons follow.
Went to Taco Bell last night, saw their wifi connection but didn't connect. Got home, home wifi was slow to connect and they grays. Makes me wonder if there's an issue with the wifi queue or the phones "which internet do I use?" queue.
//Was in drive thru line for a while for 3 Beefy Crunch Burritos...in the store, the guy upfront of me in queue had an 18 item order. Looked like he was leaving the grocery store with all those Bell bags. I thought, dang, his gut's gonna like him in the morning.

Last line made me LOL.
The issue just seems to be 4G and LTE. WiFI on your PAC rom seems runs wifi great, but sometimes it disconnects (very rare for me, but I think it's for everyone in my house, we have quite a few WiFi hogs, lol). I'll just keep flashing your new roms as they come out, and hopefully it'll be fixed. Not to big of a deal if it isn't lol.

If you have an older router, try changing the WiFi frequency from auto to 2.4ghz -- fixed my WiFi disconnect issues right up. Also, if that doesn't, then set up a static IP for your phone since, in my experience, static connects a lot faster. That's not really a bug as it is a hardware issue (an I can't afford a new router issue).
As for signal. Can't test LTE\4G. Not available in my town. 3G works fine and doesn't have any disconnect or signal issues. I can suggest to try different modems from the various fastboots.
Its just that the custom Roms don't "see" the 4g signal is all... So it gives a no signal bar. Its different from the connected bars and fully connected bars that still show signals.
Sent from my Atrix HD using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I have been experiencing data issues after rooting my device. The signal bar never seems to fill all the way since rooting. Before root I would have pretty consistent LTE. I still have a data connection, however it isn't nearly as it was before. Also, next to the signal bar I've noticed an "!" every now and then, I've tried searching for what this might mean, others have experienced it, but there were no answers. I am on Verizon, my SIM Status states I am on the network,
Network type is CDMA - 1xRTT
Baseband version is: MDM9625_104446.01.02.101R
Building # is LMY47Z white/64
I had read some where on this forum about flashing different radios. I've never attempted to do so. I'm fairly new to rooting, this is my second phone I've rooted my self. So feel free to use Crayons when explaining. The only thing I've done outside of the root was enable WIFI tethering through the system/build.prop.
Thanks for any help

if you messed up on the spelling in the build.prop method, you wouldnt be able to boot. twrp recovery does not have a radio, and is the only recovery for the n6. and rooting doesnt touch your radio, all root does is give you administative permissions. as a fact, since you still get a radio signal, even though crappy, its still a signal and nothing is wrong with your device. the only issue that you seem to be having is with your provider. do you live deep in the country? i know that with tmobile, thats where bad signals are, and some report the same issue as your having.
I get weird signal lte bars, but that's not indicative of call signal right? I am on cricket aka AT&T, using in central metro area, it tends to flux. Where as Nexus 5 and LG G3 seemingly had better signal (going by bars).
EDIT: have you tried checking your Settings>Battery>Cell Standby? What's you "time without a signal"? Today I got 3%, previously it was 10%, but I'm going in and out of buildings/elevators.
Well after a couple days I've been checking the Cell Standby like you mentioned. Its around 10%. When I'm at work its about 60%, but that's because I work in a controlled area that blocks most cell signals. My connection seems to be getting better, I can stream Netflix and other things on without much problems. I had my phone for a little bit before I rooted, and I never got the "!" next to my signal bar. I guess the "!" means it is searching for a data signal. I get it at least 3 times a day. I do live in a rural area, I wouldn't call it back woods. I'm about 30 min from the capital. but everything is settling out,
thanks for the replies!
