[REQ] Press and hold down trackball to start camera

Hi
Would it be possible to start the camera application by press and hold down the trackball for 1-2 sec when you're in the homescreen? Using the trackball like a camera button not just take picture with it but also start the camera

I like this idea. I don't think it should be too hard.
Just like the trackball to unlock feature, which has the trackball to skip to next song function, it shouldn't bee too hard to associate it with the camera app.

Great idea since there's no dedicated camera button. In fact we could step it up a notch by having a setting that allows us to enable/disable the trackball launch, as well as choose our desired application! : D

well lets hope one of our smart guys here can fix it in near future I use the trackball to wake up and unlock the phone, so if we also could start the camera with the trackball it would be perfect!

No when its unlocked of course I just said what Im using the trackball for atm

Trackball wake on FroYo?

Since updating to FroYo I keep thinking my phone is broken because it won't wake up, but then I realize I have to wake via power button now...
any root apps to re-enable this until CM6 is out?

there's menu unlock by teamdouche; it uses the menu button instead of trackball to unlock, but you still need to press the power button to wake the phone

Hmm, sorta pointless for me. I can deal with slide to unlock, I just hate power to wake.

I'd like the same ... it's annoying to have to go back to using the power button.

Isn't it possible to just extract the function from a recent CM build and make a installable package to use until CM 6?
Need trackball wake!

I find myself pressing the trackball multiple times before realizing I have to use the power button again . Pressing that power button sucks when you have a gel case. Trackball wake is needed!

i wish to have it as well. froyo doesn't bring it .

Just discovered a way to have trackball wakeup on the N1 running fro-yo!
Install an app called screen mode and set it on your home screen as a widget. Switch to Awake stay mode and voila! Trackball wake up! I tried tinkering with it and if you set it to regular mode the trackball wake up won't work. Have been using this app for a long time now and never realized that it does this lol.

Well it works. It doesn't turn the screen back off but I assume that people just want the wakeup feature.

What does awake stay mode do?

Awesome. Works, but yes what is stay awake mode? Does is not sleep meaning using battery?

It's a good app but I preffer the slide to unlock protection after trackball press instead of jumping directly to the menu. Pressing volume or trackball buttons by error will open the screen.
I think we don't have other solutions than wait for an Enom or CM roms

Keyguard Disabler works perfect on 2.2. Once installed goto shortcuts and set it to "disable".

what does it do? trackball wake up or screen never lock?
i just wonder is it really hard/not pissible/ to make some app which would replace power button with trackball?

it wakes the phone via trackball or side buttons..and yes no locky locky

I think Google needs to release the source code for 2.2 before this is possible.

Use "No Lock" (free in market) in combination with "FlyScreen" (free on market).
Wakes phone with trackball and brings you to a customizable lock screen that looks almost like the stock 2.1 lock screen. I'm using this and love it.

I caved, rooted and flashed rodriguezstyle froyo rom and overclocked to 1.1gig . i like it but im looking for some other things that would be compatible with the rom. if you guys could steer me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

Rotating home screens + launcher like froyo = ADW Launcher/Launcher Pro
Black Status bar = requires root
Media player = nemo
Trackball wake = requires root
With all that said, you should just root your phone. HTC honors rooted phones if its the hardware thats faulty.
It's pretty hard to mess up your phone software wise, which is the only thing that voids your warranty (software screw up).

Requires Root

Lol rooting seems to be the thing you need the most here..

ive actually found apps like LOCKBOT from the marketplace that let me use the trackball to bring up the unlock screen but there seems to be a delay and it makes me use theyre themes.
honestly i think ive get everything covered i can live without the black status bar for now but i might get bored somewhere down the road and just root for the hell of it

FlyScreen also has wake on trackball, although I honestly wish I could disable it, I think my case probably wakes the phone and it doesn't go off until the set delay time, which I have set to 2 minutes.

ScreenModeWidget does it too, I set it to 'awake stay' and it wakes the phone with the trackball and bypasses the lock screen

Disables the lockscreen and lets you use the trackball to turn on Nexus One.

I searched for this but found nothing, is their any mod or app that has a press to unlock feature? Instead of a slider, just a press to unlock. Thanks for any help in advance.

i think widget locker may have that option using the hardware keys rather than on screen touch

yeah it does, im really wanting to find a on screen button. i had it on my old iphone 3g which i just cut on for the first time in over a year, and relized how nifftie it was lol

power button app

What's a best app/widget to put a power button on your homescreen that'll put your tab to sleep? The ones that I've seen mentioned so far are Tap Tap App, Screen Off and Lock, AnyUnlock and Screen Off.
Any thoughts on which one is the best? Also, being able to wake it up with the volume rocker would be a nice option.

Widgetsoid includes a nice lock widget and a reboot widget, I haven't seen anything that's expressly sleep though.

You could always use MY app, LockMyDroid.
The advantages are that it's an app instead of a widget so it offers many more ways to lock your screen. Examples:
Set it as the 'Action' for the Clock Tap in FancyWidgets
Add a shortcut to your homescreen
Hold the Home button, if it was one of the last 8 apps used (always is for me) you can lock your phone from that menu
Long-press the 'Search' button on your phone
Launch from app drawer and lock your phone

But Quick Boot doesn't have an option to make it sleep right? It just reboots or powers off unless I'm missing something.

I use minimalistic text to call on screen off and lock.
So I touch the word lock and the screen goes out with an old TV tube animation, gingerbread style on froyo.
