Questions about FroYo

Hello,
I am new to Android, and some help would be appreciated with this question:
Is there CM ROM or SuperBad ROM for Froyo? If there is not, is there any ROM for FroYo that has everything working?
no CM Froyo yet... here this is working http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=702191
Thanks johnnie93,
To root FroYo, I should first update my N1 to froyo and then root using the normal ways, right? (I mean that if I root it while it has default version 2.1 on it, will it stay rooted after update?)
And are there any themes availaible for FroYo?
By the way, one question about the touchscreen: Does the Desire have better touchscreen than the n1?
you need
1.custom recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611829
2.the new radio http://rapidshare.com/files/394280723/Step_One_Froyo_Radio_Update.zip
3.then just update to froyo its already rooted by Paul. But dont update to froyo with the stock radio.
P30TiP said:

Click to collapse
No they are the same.
Thanks alot,
So I install custom recovery and the new radio, then I install the MoDaCo rom for FroYo?
And one questions about the "new radio": Does this bring Radio to N1? (I don't mean Internet Radio, I mean normal Radio like every other phone)
And are there any themes for FroYo?
Radio doesn't mean FM radio i think its 3G and signal fixes and yes you install the custom recovery and then the new radio then FroYo from Paul
So once again to verify, the order is: Update to FroYo, install custom recovery, install new radio, then install the MoDaCo FroYo ROM?
And you didn't say that are there any themes for FroYo?
NO first custom recovery then radio then froyo.......
Ok one more question:
A ROM is not an update, right? I have to download and install FroYo from google and then install the ROM?
and u didn't awnser my theme question...
No the ROM is the update.... and for themes just check http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=560
All themes in there work with the ROM you told me to install and froyo?
not all themes just search and for compatible themes with froyo and the ROM your downloading is the Froyo update + Root +
Based on the FRF50 release
Rooted with Superuser 2.1 by ChainsDD
Built with the MCR build process which reduces the size and boosts the speed of the ROM
STOCK KERNEL
Rooted boot image with 'adb remount' permission and superuser APK
busybox with Droid Explorer support
terminfo and settings in boot.img to allow nano etc. use
OpenVPN binary
HTC_IME to jonasl's v27 for 2.2, based on my Desire leak
System dalvik-cache moved to /cache partition
Updated Google Maps
MCR version displayed in 'About' screen
Optional dropbear (SSH server, username 'root, port 2222, password displayed in 'About' screen)
Optional A2SD and A2SD+ (old style) via the online kitchen
Optional baked in Wavesecure via the online kitchen (installed to system partition for maximum security)
Optional WiFi Status indicator
De-odexed for theming support!
Trackball Alert / Trackball Alert Pro support for coloured trackball notifications!
This theme works with Froyo http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=691040
And this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=700703
I didn't understand one thing:
By paul's froyo you mean:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=702191
or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=686631 ?
The first one.
Do I need the second one too?
The first one ONLY!
Thank you alot.
no problem
One more question (I'm sorry I ask too many questions, I'm totally new to Android): If I upgrade to FroYo and I regret it, Can I downgrade back to 2.1?

Vibrant Bible
No one is responsible for what YOU do with YOUR phone. Any software modification to technology carries with it a certain risk of permanent damage, when you modify your device you accept this as your own responsibility.
XDA specific stuff:
Useful information/posting rules
XDA Developers Android application
Useful software (PC)
SuperOneClick- One click rooting software (Windows/Linux only)
Heimdall - Odin equivalent, except less buggy.
Odin - Samsung's flashing tool, Heimdall is recommend.
Vibrant Customization Kitchen - Quickly and easily modify ROMs to suit your specific taste/needs
Samsung Galaxy S Windows drivers (x86 and x64)
Auto-Deodexer/ROM builder - untermensch
Quick glossary
ADB - The Android Debug Bridge. A collection of tools that any rooted Android user should have. ADB allows one to interact with their device from a terminal interface. This enables the user to do a variety of tasks such as sideloading applications and more.
Android - A Linux based operating system created and mostly designed by Google. The major revisions are 1.0, 1.1, 1.5 (Cupcake), 1.6 (Donut), 2.0/2.0.1/2.1 (Eclair), 2.2 (Froyo) 2.3 (Gingerbread), and 3.0 (Honeycomb - tablet only). The majority of Android major revisions are named after desserts.
APK - Android PacKage. These are, basically, Android applications and all of their data. They are run via the Dalvik Virtual Machine on your device.
Bootloader - The part of a computer that loads the operating system. If this is damaged/deleted you are screwed.
Flashing - The act of installing a ROM onto an embedded device or emulator.
Heimdall - A community designed alternative to Odin, Heimdall allows you to do everything Odin does in a much safer, less buggy environment.
JFD, JI6, KA6, etc - Samsung's naming system for the software updates they build. If you look at the full name of a firmware update, say T959UVKA7, T959 is the device model (Vibrant), UV is the region code (UnitedStates Vibrant, maybe?), K is the year of release (J = 2010, K = 2011), A is the month (A-L = January-December), and the number at the end is the revision number. So the firmware name is telling you "Vibrant, United States, 2011, January, revision 7.
Odin - The infamous flashing tool designed by Samsung, Odin is a Windows program that allows users to push ROMs, radios, and more onto their device from the comfort of their PC. Notoriously buggy. Heimdall is the recommended alternative.ROM - The name given to software on embedded devices (mobile phones, for the most part). "Flashing" a ROM means that you install that software on your device.
Overclocking - Increasing the "clock" of a processor to increase its speed at the expense of battery life and possibly your phone. Not all processors overclock the same, even if the hardware is identical. One phone with a Hummingbird SoC will not be able to overclock to 1.2ghz, yet another would be able to overclock to 2.0ghz (very unlikely).
Radio/Modem - The parts of a firmware that allow communication between the operating system, the telecommunication hardware, and a mobile network. Some radios give good battery life, some good signal, some neither.
XDA - This site, XDA is a community of likeminded developers, hackers, and users who modify various phones running various operating systems (Windows Mobile, Windows Phone 7, and Android specifically).

ROMs
Important note: All ROMs outside of the category "Odin/Heimdall" are flashable through ClockworkMod recovery. If you download a .tar file, or a ROM containing a .tar (Odin/Heimdall flashable ROMs) that is listed outside of the "Odin/Heimdall" section please let me know!
2.3 Gingerbread
These ROMs are based on Android 2.3 "Gingerbread," the latest version of Google's Android OS (as of 1/21/2011).
Gingerbread Build 1 [tech demo] - sombionix
Gingerbread port i9000 alpha v6 - supercurio
2.2 Froyo
These are ROMs that are based on Android 2.2 "Froyo," these ROMs are currently (as of 1/21/2011) the latest official ROMs. Froyo introduced the JIT compiler, bringing with it major speed boosts in both benchmarks and practice.
Official/stock (with root)
These are the official ROMs from Samsung, they include bloatware (Add to Home, Accounts and Sync, etc), RFS, fixed 3E recovery (typically), root, and occasionally busybox.
KA7 (deodexed) - Samsung
KA6 (deodexed) (first 2.2 OTA) - Samsung
JL4 (odexed and deodexed) - Samsung
Stock bloatless
These are the official ROMs from Samsung, slightly tweaked to have no bloatware (Add to Home, Accounts and Sync, etc) and occasionally Voodoo (which can be disabled).
Br1cK'd stock & Voodoo (KA6)
KA5 (odexed) - jellete
JK6 (odexed) - Ashex1
TouchWiz-based
These ROMs are based on Samsung's official ROMs, but have major theming and other tweaks applied to them.

Nero v2
Axura/Devs4Android
Kana (KA6, AOSP-clone)
Axura v2.2.7.1 (KA5)
Axura 2.2.6.0 (JL5)
Ports
These ROMs were never originally intended for the Galaxy S/Vibrant. They were ported from other devices, and may experience some major issues because of this. Only the experienced ROM flasher should go about flashing these, and be careful while they are at it!
CyanogenMOD 6.1 - #TeamDouche, supercurio, many many others
HTC Sense port - TeamGalaxySense
2.1 Eclair
(outdated as of 1/21/2011)
These ROMs are based on or created by Samsung. They are based on Android 2.1 Eclair, which was the original operating system for all Galaxy S based devices (as of 1/21/2011).
Note: To add *every* old 2.1 ROM to this thread would be a very, very boring task. Personally, I don't see a need for every WinZip and theme to be listed here and I shall only be adding the major 2.1 ROMs (Bionix, Axura, etc). If someone wants to write up a list with all the BBCode formatted with all of the 2.1 ROMs and submit them to me I will gladly add them to the Bible.

This is an excellent idea. You should probably add the lag fixes too.
i think you already have
everything seem updated so far beside i think the rom 2.2 from eu it wasnt all that compatible with the vibrant it was from another country from what i hear but it wasnt needed but interested in wat the mod section would bring

[Q] Juwe's Rom 4.3.1 Bugs.

Hello All,
Since i still cannot post any comments in the DEV forum i wanted to ask few questions for the Juwe's Rom 4.3.1 developers who helped to create something almost perfect.
I am a very heavy user for the I9000 SGS and i have been trying Juwe's 4.3.1 ROM and i noticed few things.
1- The device is overheating when i am using the you tube application .
2- The battery performance is great only when you are disabling data networks , due to the nature of my work i have to keep it up at all times , and the battery drains is faster than the stock gingerbread release 2.3.3
3- Front camera is not working properly using the camera application but works perfect on video calls.
4- This is not related to this ROM in particular but i also witnessed it on the Simplyhoney v3 ROM as well - There are applications that i cannot find on the android market such as ( Whatsapp messenger , flash player , angry birds , advanced task killer , bubbles , islamic salat widget , hijri calendar ,.. )
5- Last is the arabic patch doesn't have keyboard ?! " can some one help with it please "
Note : The files stored for the TW4 is corrupted on both hotfile and deposit , please check this as well.
Yet thanks for the creators of the ROM and the team helped them it is some piece of work .
Regards,
Ahmed A Gad

Re flashed XWJVH and reinstalled juwes rom, everything works again.
Boot animation loop
Hi all,
I have been a darky fan all along and decided today to try out Juwe's new rom. I followed his instructions exactly.
Previously, I was on Ficeto's JVP base rom, Dark Core 2.7.3.
I disabled voodoo lagfix, booted into Download mode and flashed stock firmware from samfirmware.com - I9000XWJVH 2.3.3
When using Odin (v1.3), I only placed the the stock firmware in PDA. I checked re-partition and used the appropriate pit file.
Then phone rebooted normally, and then I used 3-button combo to get it back into Download mode. I used Odin again to flash the CF-Root v3.2 Kernel (Re-partition UNTICKED)
Then I flash Juwe v4.3.1 (wipe) via CWM. Wipe cache + Dalvik.
everything has gone well so far, then I boot the phone and it loads Juwe's Smart Edition animation - Earth shaking animation.
However it continues to replay this boot animation forever!
I tried reflashing from the beginning multiple times and it still doesn't work! Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Ahilen
Wait, tomorow juwe release new version based on jvp and i mean withot bug

The newer version based on date is 2.2.5 but the older one is 2.2.9. Im confused
Older one as you can see shares code with FB 012 and newer with FB 021b so its newer and better. And BTW floyo used to be great ROM (still is) but now we have custom kernels and fully workable CM7 (Gingerbread) ROMs. If you really want froyo then I sugesst you to use FroyoBread.

so the last update is the latest though 2.2.5?
and the reason why I like froyo because of the benchmarking wherein 2d/3d games are higher on froyo. froyobread is buggy thats why ill be trying floyo
Quote from froyobreads changelog:
[*]Android version changed to 2.2.9. FroyoBread isn't 2.2.1 anymore. We almost have a Gingerbread by now.

So its bassically Android 2.2.1 but DX changed it to 2.2.9 (almost 2.3) becasue that ROM had all gingerbread features.
