Available for the Droid & Milestone: The game-gripper. The accessory for the game fan with a Motorola Milestone/Droid
Quote from the review by engadget:
We love an innovative fix to a problem, and so were immediately smitten by the Game Gripper when we saw it in action

Making use of the game-gripper in your game is easy: The only thing you need are custom key bindings.
Contact me at info (at) game-gripper.eu when your game is compatible so we can add you to the compatibility list.
Good accessory, nice idea but ... 15€ + shipping IT'S A BIT EXPENSIVE!!! Dont you think? I mean, (correct me if im wrong) I know this is the only accessory of its kind but still there are products that should be more expensive than this and ... THEY ARE CHEAPER!!! (Batteries, covers, holders, chargers, etc).
I mean if it were like 8€ + shipping or 10 total, I could understand. Is it me or anyone else feel the same way, specially on these times of crisis?
Feedback people. Thanks ^_^
Yeah, I agree, it's too expensive. If it were €5, I would've gotten it for sure. €10, maybe, but €20 is simply too much.
Me and a friend got a game gripper and it really makes the Milestone/Droid a lot better
With the game gripper all the emulators are really playable, the onscreen joysticks never really work well and the directional pad on the Milestone is on the wrong side and very hard to do diagonals with it without clicking it down...
I really love the game gripper, will it also be available for the Samsung Epic 4G?
Any chance that you'll follow up with the Droid2 (Milestone2 or D2WorldEdition) ??
How about the HTC Desire Z (T-mobile G2) ??
If you guys have decided, when can we realistically expect shipment?
Thank you, and I hope you choose both (so that you can have more money, yay)
edit:
I got confirmation that there will be a gg for the Droid2 and this will be compatible with the Milestone2 and Droid2 World Edition.
They say it would be available about 1 month and that it will be a better quality gg that's more durable than the original, so this is definently exciting. On another note, they are currently considering the HTC Desire Z, if that phone is a success/demand for a gg is high, they say they will also support it ... hope that helps fellow internet travellers
IMO, it was worth the $15. I love it. Just got it about 2 weeks ago and have been using it constantly with my emu's on the Droid1. Even my son loves playing with it. He thinks of it as a Nintendo DS.
Come on, guys, this is not expensive at all. I bet many of you spend more on your cases.
Agreed. Game Gripper is awesome. Totally worth the few bucks.
Sent from my Droid using XDA App
Just ordered it on Wednesday...and I got a shipment confirmation on Thursday...I'm waiting for it...They said it would get to me in a couple of days...I will let you know my opinion once is here....
The game gripper arrived in 10 days....I believe that 15 euros + 5 shipping wasnt that much... This accessory is great... Works perfect with super nintendo games like Super Mario World...
Which SNES Emulator is best for use with the game gripper?
I have the game gripper for my Epic 4g, and I have Snesoid as my emulator. I'm a little frustrated because It doesn't seem to work for going in diagonal directions. (up + left, down + right, etc) This makes playing games very difficult when I can't pust in those directions. Things like Techmo Bowl are unplayable.
Is there an SNES emulator that is better than others?
Am I missing some way of configuring the input so the game gripper works better?
thanks!
Bryce
The last I saw of this thing, it was sold out. I had forgotten about it until I saw this thread and I plan on getting one.
Just a question for those who've used it for an extended period of time. Does it seem to wear down your keyboard buttons at all (as in the letters), or is it pretty soft on them?
Does this stuff shipping world wide?

They seem to ship world wide which is nice.
Personally though, I wouldn't get it because I don't want to carry around an addon just to play games on the go.
I have one, and it really improoves emulators experience, would love to have support from some android games as well...
But, it is not perfect:
1 - I would love to have more distance between buttons, they are too close to each other....
2 - It would be great if it did wrap around the shoulders of the phone back, so it would not slide down as you play. I have to reposition it after few minutes playing.
Other than that, it is the best solution out there for Milestone/Droid.

Agreed.
It's not confortable to play games like Super Mario World, when u have to maintain the "Y" button pressed to run and press "B" to jump, because these buttons are really close.
And the GGripper slides after a few minutes.
Anyone found a way to "ease" the buttons on the game gripper? I find them kinda hard and it hurts depending the game i'm playing.
I was thinking about doing some moding using PS1 buttons, anyone thinks it'll work?

I'me really curious if continuous gameplay won't damage Milestone's keyboard. Anybody experienced loose keys or erased labels ?

Hi everyone,
I currently have a Tytn II/Kaiser on order (my first HTC device), due to arrive in a day or so. Since making the order I have discovered the video drivers issues which concern me greatly.
I purchased the Tytn II as a pda primarily and phone secondary. I need the office funtionality, however because I travel a bit (train/plane) i was hoping to use its multimedia functionality to watch videos/movies/play games (hoping to get a snes emulator at some point .
Is anyone able to give me an honest assessment of the Tytn II's video capabilities for the needs I described above?
It is useable?
Should I move to an alternative device (possibly a Nokia e90)?
What alternatives are there to the Tytn II? (qwerty keyboard is important to me, I do a lot of writing...)
Thanks in advance : )
It's not absolutely dreadful, it's just annoying in some instances. Video will play decently if you recompress it to 320x240 at a lower bitrate (512kbps?); most peoples' beef is that given the device's hardware, they shouldn't have to recompress their videos.
It's quite usable as a phone, and decent for some other simple stuff (office malarkey, web browsing, email poop, etc.). The areas where it really takes a crap on itself is running quake and whatnot. Also, since the graphics acceleration hardware isn't being utilized, battery life for media stuff really blows. Running virtual pool or quake kills my battery in about 2 to 3 hours with screen brightness at 50%; I'd imagine watching a movie in core player would result in similar battery life. You can get an extended 2800mA battery that'd double the battery time, but it's retardedly bulky and prevents your kaiser from fitting in most pouches/cases.
Having played around with it for a few months now, I'd still get it given the alternatives available to me. I guess I don't feel as bad as some about the driver issue simply because I only coughed up $150 for mine, which is pretty much the maximum I'd be willing to pay for it. The $300 AT&T is asking for it now is a bit of a stretch, I still might consider it but I'd have to be in a good mood and sporting a massive boner.
If you dished out $1k for it like some people here, eh.. you're better off with something else, I think.
edit:
In lieu of HTC's recent decision to give their customers the finger, I'd probably go for something else, just out of principle. Dunno why it's so incredibly painful for that company to just write some drivers for their own device, but if their answer is to act like they don't need my business, then they won't have it next time around.
does anyone honestly think HTC gives a f*&k about are cheesy little website and threats to bring a class action suite ageist them? I really don't think they do! with all the money they spend a year just on lawyers alone they are probably laughing in ate face right now. I hate to say all of this but it is true we are the little fish in a big pond and they are the feeders this is the last time i will be buying an HTC device though no matter how "cool" or good the specs look!

Didn't you just post this in another thread? I'm thinking you should stop trolling. If you aren't for what people are doing, or don't care, fine. We don't really need you trying to start something with your same post in multiple threads. Use your head.
WOW! I cant tell you how much i like this keyboard with my Mogul. It paired up with no driver download required. Just make sure you enter the same passcode and press return with the keyboard immediately after pairing with the ppc. Instructions are minimal in the box, online are better. I thought it worked very well right out of the box. It was fairly accurate and seemed to improve as I used it and played with the sensitivity (lessened it, as I was getting multiple letters occasionally. It makes a click sound every time a key is recognized. The laser projected keyboard is very visible in all but the brightest of rooms. The futuristic look and function is beyond belief. The reviews were slamming it for some reason. While it might not be the ultiimate solution to mobile computing, it is so easy on my eyes (much more so than the onscreen popup keyboard, tactile keyboard or "full screen keyboards) I dont have to use my reading glasses! I paid $149.00 at Fry's in stock here in Houston. Total accident that I stumbled onto it. Did i say it is less than 1/2 pack of cigarettes in size? A bluetooth laser projected vrtual keyboard! You have been warned. I saw this same thing floating around the net years ago and thought it would never happen. It has and it works! Now I want the bluetooth projector (not out, but was in same picture years ago).
Anyway now for the cons, andd they are minor in my opinion. It requires sitting on a flat surface (has a microswitch on bottom that turns it off if lifted though it repairs instantly upon repowering) which makes use in a car difficult if not impossible especially if moving (now if they would have built a clip on it to clip it upright on say a notepad!) That is about it. Btw I paid retail and get no compensation from any manufacturer and I think it was worth it. You wont believe the look on friends faces when you pop it out of your top pocket!
link to the manufacturer's or reseller's website please?
Wow, this is really expensive.

I'm not sure I'd want to use a bluetooth keyboard when the Mogul already has a built-in keyboard, kind of overkill if you ask me.
Also, what's the battery life on this thing and the effect on the Mogul when paired up with it?
Here is the link http://www.vkb-support.com/index.php
The claimed battery life is 2 hours of active typing. The laser dosent use much power I wouldnt think. Also you think the keyboard on the mogul is good? You must have great eyes and be into texting. It is not a better keyboard (the mogul) nor is it more accurate. Re: The price yes at 149.00 it wasnt cheap, however a bluetooth folding keyboard is 149.00 at Best Buy and a palm bluetooth (not compatible with ppc) was 89.00. So you choose what you spend your money on. I personally think it is one of the most futuristic accessories I have have ever seen and it works very well maybe not perfect but neither is the user! 2 good dinners for my family of 5 easily costs the same and all I get is a larger waist with the dinner. Cya
Those are some cheap dinners...

WOAHHH!!!
you can get TWO dinners for 5 people for $150? Where are you? In NYC a family of 5 can't eat that cheaply unless they go to McDonald's.
Still not understanding though, the Mogul/Titan HAS a built-in keyboard doesn't it? Why then do you need a second keyboard?
yes it does have a tactile keyboard, an onscreen keyboard and i have even dowloaded larger onscreen keypads, however none of those are like typing on a full size keyboard. The VKB is better when being at a stationary location and would like to type easier. I avoid detail when using any of the onboard solutions due to the inconvenience. I am over 40 and the ability to read without glasses is slipping away and that has a lot to do with my preference and the fact I actually TALKED to the girls I was chasing when I was young and single so Texting isnt second nature to me. I really want a total voice command of some type preferably not via a web connection but onboard the phone. Actually if HTC would combine a virtual projector, vitual keyboard and phone the size of say a credit card with a terragig? Is that too much to ask? or do I have to wait for an underdeveloped nation to bring it to me? Btw regarding food, I didnt say a nice restaraunt or nutritious! and surely no good drinks. In NYC you couldnt even afford the toll road to get to the restaraunt with 5 people!
we take the subway

toll road? unless you're part of the bridge and tunnel crowd coming into the city, we take the subway by and large. It's efficient, clean, and safe. Just the tourists are afraid of it. Don't know why, but that's their lookout.
Oh, and there's plenty of places to eat that are affordable, just not kansas affordable (no knock on kansas, I just have to believe that prices in kansas are considerably less than NY).
I have one of these, and I like it, but there are probably a few things you should consider before paying the bucks. First, it's got a major cool factor attached to it, however, if you touch type, it's likely going to drive you crazy, it's a full sized virtual keyboard, but there is no touch feedback, you're going to have to watch yourself type unless you get very good. Also, it's no good in high light situations, you won't be able to see the projection of the keyboard. It will only work on a stable, flat surface, don't expect to be able to whip it out in your car or lap (has a cut-off switch on the bottom, and does NOT like anything that will interfere with the infra-red reading that detects your finger touch on the surface).
Now, all that being said, it's still extremely neat and handy to be able to carry a full sized keyboard easily in your pocket, and using it will certainly turn heads, and even having to look at the keyboard to type, I can still certainly out pace my typing on the hardware or software keyboard on my kaiser and tytn..
It is HID compliant, and will be picked up as an input device natively in wm5 and wm6 from my experience. It is rechargable, and has a decent run time, never used it until it's died, so can't say on real world total run time.
I am about to buy one of these babies, but I say the classaction lawsuite and I am wondering, is it worth it? Does it slow donw that much?

Oh Bull! This is seriously a great phone. Boo-hoo I can't play Quake on it. The chefs around here have made the Kaiser so much better then stock. But the same can be said for tuner cars.
If you like the features of the phone Buy it. If you are worried about a lawsuit, which if you look hard enough there is one for just about every product out there, then don't.
I dont think its slow at all, and I doubt the "lawsuit" will ever get anywhere.

If you want a PDA and a Phone and an MP3 player and a GPS route finder, then buy it - I just did, took delivery on Thursday last week.
I've had Ipaq's, I've had symbian phones but this thing knocks spots off the lot. It is a brilliant little device.
As with all PDA's you have to invest time and effort into them if you expect them to "organise" your life. As a phone - its OK....ish.... struggles to get a signal sometimes. As a mp3 player, its pretty good - the supplied headphones suck - wish it had a 3.5mm jack too. Haven't played with the GPS yet - need to change SIM cards
Yea, not a media device at all given its size, speaker quality, and lack of 3.5 or a 2.5 jack. As a pda I think its good, phone as well, but the main quirk is improving battery life. I'm playing w Kaiser alongside Q9h (Q Global) and so far the Q is winning due to enormous amount of time I have to spend to get Kaiser to operate decently.
guys check amazon there 3000 mah batteries available there for a small price. if you really want to get the best out you device then i recomend buying the bigger battery. im planning on it but im getting a new pc tomorrow
do i have to ask anything special to run a 64 bit vista
Thanks for all the asnwers. I quess the question goes down to this....
Can I watch a video(I know the screen is small) using tcpmp smothly?
Thanks
I think it is a fabulous device. I play movies on mine, work on it from the road, tether it to my pc in airports, use the gps to get around cities where I am new and it also shines my shoes!...just kidding on the shoe shining but it does more than my first laptop did 10 years ago. I really love the tilt. Yes you have to tweak it...but it does way more than the iphone! It is very cool device and I use it for business too.

Seriously, it's like comparing a Lamborghini to dried vomit on a sidewalk.
My biggest reason for picking the Nook Color over anything else is the 1024x600 screen.
I personally believe any tablet with the pandigital name sucks. Mainly because everything they have made has sucked..

I bought a Novel back when Best Buy was selling them for $129. At the time I just couldn't get myself to spend $250 on a Nook. For what it was I thought it was great. Worked fine for me, but I'm not a "Power-user". I don't do much with my Nook other than read books, play games and surf the internet a bit.
For me the Novel was a great little stepping stone. Without it I might not have ever bought a Nook.
Not even a pretender. The pandigital is a pretty good first reader but the one I bought about a year ago got returned to best buy within 2 days. I worked with the Huawei S7 and S7 slim for a while but the nook is an order of magnitude better. The IPS screen is much easier on the eyes and the devs here have developed the nook to a well deserved place in the tablet market. Do not waste your money on the pandigital if you really want a tablet.

It features a 800 MHz proc running an 800x600 ActiveTouch display (resistive touchscreen with multitouch input) with 4GB mem and two camera.
Well, that says it all. Resistive screen with 800x600 display?? Really?
The nook screen wins hands down as the main user interface for a tablet is the screen, why would you want a lower resolution screen with no developement community? Even for the extra ram and the camera, Pandigital is cheaping out on the screen. No wonder it sells for less.
On the other hand, if you must have a device with a camera and can live with no tech support and no dev community and have 20-20 vision that you do not mind ruining, by all means....rush out and get it. Just sayin.....

I thought that was clearly humor, it's far too ridiculous to be taken in any serious tone...
On another note, I've had a couple of experiences with Pandigital and like everyone else is says here, Pandigital makes bottom of the barrel junk on the same level as things like the CherryPad.

I guess since I had no prior e-reader experience I had no expectations when I bought my Novel. Sure it had it's issues, but at half the price of a Nook I thought it was great for what I paid for it at the time. All I wanted was something I could read books on and surf the internet and it did those 2 things just fine.
I Checked it out at Best Buy
The specs on this device are very tempting and the fact that it runs gingerbread means it should be easy to get skype and netflix working on it without much work. Something that is harder or not yet possible for the most of the nice honeycomb tablets. So I checked it out while I was at Best Buy. The screen looked alright and the viewing angles weren't great but they might be adequate for basic use. I found it very hard to type accurately on and when I was looking up the specs on it I found myself wanting to use my phone instead of the nova. Pinch to zoom took several tries to work. Angry birds ran and responded well enough. The buttons felt very cheap and the flimsy plastic case had so much give in one spot that it left an impression on the screen when you pressed it that lasted for several seconds. I may have missed it but there doesn't appear to be an accelerometer on this.
The only real contender with the Nook Color is the Renasis3 or Rena3 tablet. Even then there isn't a big dev community for it. But it kills the nook color in specs.

Hehe.... LOL.
I have been toying with the idea for a few months now.
Am just wondering how you guys have been using it.
Have you enjoyed your experience, Any changes you would make?
What is the clarify of the screen like, being so close to the device.
(I used TV Glasses some years ago, and one thing that annoyed me, was it was like putting your face to the TV and seeing the Colors / Pixels)
Whats the experience watching videos, strained eyes or anything like that?
does the device feel heavy on the head after a long period.
What about app compatibility, is it one of these manufactured devices that are locked down to OEM software only?
How have you been navigating through the menus when wearing the device, is the controller provided easy to use and responsive.
(Easy to use in the fact you cannot see the control Obviously)
And last but not least, what about Games?
I still get the feeling / impression its still a bit gimmicky and don't know if to hold off on the device till someone like Sony make the PS4 VR.
I would appreciate your words and feedback.
I know the value of the device is a steal is comparison to others
My Device is the S7 Edge.
Two words : Ultra Porn
Buy a used one from craigslist, don't like it, put it back up for sale. You could probably get one for $50 if you really look, dont pay more than $70.
I'm glad I bought one (used), but I have a note 5. Theres another thread detailing the lower quality picture while using the S7.
I played around with my buddies oculus and that's what motivated me to get the gear.
The 3d doesn't need to be high resolution to feel immersed. If you are focusing on the pixels or imperfections in your screen protector, you've either got it setup wrong or you' re going out of your way to focus on them.
I dont feel that it's cumbersome to wear, I will probably get a different foam piece like from motorcycle or ski goggles.
Theres any and everything as far as media. People are making their own games, applications and 360* videos left and right. You can make your own 360 picture with your phone, basically taking like 40 pictures or whatever it is, ala panorama style.
There's also Google cardboard, where you can download plans and make one from cardboard, or buy one complete. You can also use the Google Cardboard application with the gear VR, you just wont have the smoother head tracking when using it.
I really enjoy using my Playstation 3 controller and the sixxaxis app hooked to my phone to play games. Theres a go kart racing game, which is "okay" but the proof of concept is great. You can look around when you need to and it's 3d.
The downside is that on Marshmallow there seems to be a lot of problems, I first did everything on Lollipop and didn't really have any issues. I just did a custom MM rom and I've had all kinds of issues and searching reveals others have too.
MAybe wait a little bit until issues are sorted and prices are even cheaper? I like it, you can't beat it's functionality for the price I think.
