what is this being called for? It's new to today and I have location services turned off. I've turned them on and off but still nothing....
I think it is adding to my battery problems. It shows a 3g push/pull eveyr 30 seconds or so.
So obviously we are looking at a log cat, but what exactly is your problem?
what do you mean? you can't just see my logcat and know my problem!?
The last sentence sort of touches on it, my 3g connection shows a upload/download every 30 seconds or so, and network location shows up in the log, which it never did.
I updated my radio the other day, could this change this?

I don't think the radio could mess with it. I looked at mine and about every 30 seconds or so I also see a CDMACellLocationAvailable - In short you could turn off Use Wireless networks. Under location and security in settings.
This made mine stop saying OnNetworkLocationChange and CDMACellLocationAvailable all the time. Also Plain ole' GPS uses less battery than the Cell Tower location system does. But, If you aren't in line-of-site of a bird then you can't use location stuff, it will return Location unavailable.
I do have my Wireless Location turned on and my battery lasts about 11 hours under pretty high load. But if it does happen to die I have 2 chargers at home, USB cable for the work computer, usb cable in my laptop bag, and a car charger. I am never far from power I was this compulsive with Feature Phones too, not just low battery life smart phones.

The option to Use Wireless Network under location is not checked. I use GPS for the reason you stated. I'll try turning it on and off again, and see if it needs to be reset.

Required:
- Running on N1
- Silently in the background, continuously, doing a very little and bandwidth limited download process
- The download process will not use SD space at all or will use a very little space and not growing in space
Optional:
- Can set the timer of that continuously download process
- Have an icon (widget?) to monitor it
Why do i need that?
Because i want that H "downlink and uplink icon" go online all the time even when my internet is idle. Currently, if my internet is idle, H icon will empty, and then when i'm trying to use internet there is an annoying establishing connection process for like 10 or 20 seconds before i can actually use the internet.
Thanks before.
you want to be connected to hsdpa all the time , hmm i get the point but wouldn't it drain the battery faster?
Yeah. But sometime i need that, for example when i'm tethering it while i'm charging it next to my laptop.

tethering has priority over sleeping, im pretty sure its supposed to stay on and connected when tethering. If it is losing connection its probably a signal strength/location issue.
Yeah. But also, there are other scenarios where i prefer speed over the battery.
Any idea what app i should look?
Run "ping" from a command line to any server out there (www.google.com for example), and enjoy constant connection
But I suggest looking into your settings, there is no good reason why HSPDA connection initialization should take more than a couple of seconds.
Complaint to your network operator!
The network operator should manage the connections timers to avoid long connections times...
If the amount of data in buffer is below some threshold the configuration in the network shold move you to a low capacity common channel (FACH), after that, if the amount of data is zero, you change to a state called cell_pch, where you still have the connection but don't use physical resources. You should be in this state for a couple of hours before being disconnected.
it shoudnt takes more than 1 sec to be on HSDPA again!!
Complaint to your network operator!
Yeah.
Thanks for the help guys.
I have a Milestone, but I'm unable to get a data connection open. Everything is configured, I have an active APN, data is enabled, 3G is turned on. Yet there is nothing on the status bar - no E, nor H, nothing.
I was using CM7, switched to FroyoMod, did full reset, it doesn't work. Any suggestions?
The rom switch might have had something go wrong, maybe try reflashing it?
I changed to baseband to Germany and the problem is solved
Self-bump.
I'm getting this message in logcat:
I/TelephonyRegistry( 2092): notifyDataConnection: state=0 isDataConnectivityPossible=false reason=apnFailed interfaceName=null networkType=3
The APN settings are correct, I double checked them on my carrier's website. What else could be wrong?
The problem exists in both CM7 and CM9...
I still can't find a solution to this one.
I even tried a SIM card for a different carrier, I tried CM6, 7, 9. I wiped data, caches, still can't get it to work.
Anyone?
Bump.
I/TelephonyRegistry( 2095): notifyDataConnection: state=0 isDataConnectivityPossible=false reason=apnSwitched interfaceName=null networkType=3

I/TelephonyRegistry( 2095): notifyDataConnection: state=0 isDataConnectivityPossible=false reason=apnFailed interfaceName=null networkType=3
Still can't find any way to fix the issue.
Log from the radio buffer would be more appropriate than the log from the main buffer.
Use logcat -b radio or post /cache/logger/AOL_radio.ap.bin if you have enabled the logger option.
Thank you, kabaldan!
Nitro, this is just a data problem or you have signal strength 0? Because that's my problem with Kabaldan's based unofficial nighties.
The signal sometimes drop to zero, but this might be because of my carrier.
The data connection issue is in all ROMs, irrelevant of my current location.
Bump. Any ideas?

My Problem
wifi drops every 2 minutes.
Caused by
Upgrading to gingerbread 2.3.3 through kies wifi has been broken every since.
Tried to
1. Odin pit/partition to gingerbread 2.3.2 (Will not scan for networks, cause a reboot)
2. Odin pit/partition to froyo (Will not scan for networks, cause a reboot)
3. heimdall.exe to devil kernel(reboots when turning on wifi)
4. heimdall.exe to Semaphore kernel (reboots when turning on wifi)
5. heimdall.exe to clockwork mod kernel(wifi works for 2 minutes then drops)
6. flashed to Cyanogenmod 7 (Will not scan for networks)
7. flashed to Cyanogenmod 9 (wifi works for 2 minutes then drops)
8. flashed to Cyanogenmod 10 (wifi works for 2 minutes then drops)
9. Cyanogenmod 9,10 (after wifi drops I can re-enabled it by wifi-off, gps-on, wifi-on,gps-off then drops after 2 minutes)
10. Tried pinging the gateway through phones terminal, pings for 2 minutes then drops)
11. Very good wifi single viewed through Wifi_Analyzer_3.2.apk but still always drops
12. Tried many apk( wifi_fixer, wifi_keeper, fxr_wifi, wifi_advance_configure, wifi_manager).
13. Tried many modem flashes (XXJVT, XXJVR, XXJVQ, XXJVP, UGKG3)
14. Tried many flushable wifi fixers through ckockworkmod with no success
15. Replaced the dhcpcd in the phone
16. Mixed and matched many kernals with different cyanogenmods with no success.
17. Set all wifi settings manually to (never sleep, don’t use low signals, always on , static ip)
18. Change router settings manually to (don’t use dhcp, wifi channel, frequency 2.4, g/n/b)
19. Search the internet for many days for ideas with no success.
20. edit and modified the wpa_supplicant.conf with no success.
My Conclusion
1. When the wifi works for 2 minutes it works well, I can stream videos, surf the web, etc
2. I think it’s a kernel problem because some kernels reset the device if I turn on the wifi, other kernels allow the wifi to work for 2 minutes then drop.
3. The log shows that the blueTooth state is causeing the wifi drop probably from the forcing wifi on through the bluetooth on/off method.

Please help
I am obsessed with this problem and I have wasted way to many hours on it. Can anyone help with this?
Driving me nuts trying to fix this
I have the same problem, Im on CM10 the only difference is my wifi will connect one out of every 50 times but only last for 2 min. If i toggle it on or off with eth power widget it might turn on it might turn off but still wont connect an will usually just reboot... I tried different radios I reinstalled epinters latest cm10 rom today full wipe etc once my phone rebooted it connected to wifi then when going to look at my wifi settings it **** the bed again and rebooted...
Things ive done since this started happening 2 weeks ago...
Someone in the thread mentioned they liked a radio so i installed it then days later i noticed i had no wifi. Sine then ive tried 36p and back on 37P 2 diferent 37p files from various threads, yet still have the wifi issue...
Ive installed a backup fomr 3 months ago still had no wifi. Today i started from scratch no go
WTF is going on and solution...
OOPS just realized im on the atrix but still same issue as u... im also in the us any ideas
Hi all,
I've noticed a few times now on my Z3C that even though I have Wifi enabled (set as always enabled) after a while it will loose connection, not the actual wifi connection, that still shows as connected, but no traffic works over wifi until i switch it off and on again. I've tried this against several wifi ap's now and get the same result. I've toggled the wifi optimization option and that has made no difference at all. Has anyone else had this or know of a solution?
Thanks
i don't have this issue....
sorry for bad anglish
I bought a Z3 Compact from Clove and I am experiencing the same issues. If i restart the phone, then no issue for a short period of time.
Do any of you use ABP?
I have the same issues when ABP proxy is on.
If I leave out the proxy from the connection settings, wi-fi is stable, but it kind of defeats the purpose.
I can't post links here, but there's a topic on ABP forums -ABP Android WiFi issue-, so google it.
I don't have ABP installed but thanks for the tip.
I´m having the same trouble with a Z3C. I figured out, that the problem does not occur when on flightmode or when the mobile data connection is switched off. WiFi speed is still good after several hours. Anyone to confirm this?
Yeah this WiFi thing happens here. Auto magically no traffic for no apparent reason

Can you try the flightmode with enabled WiFi or turn off the mobile data connection and see if it still happens?
Okay, now I also had this problem with the WiFi at work.
I did more testing on that issue, I changed my Vodafone SIM to a Congstar SIM (T-Mobile). The problem also occurs then ... BUT ... instead of seeing a speed limited to ~1Mbit/s the speed ist limited to ~3Mbits ... reproducable. Remember, I await ~5 to 6 Mbits, which I get shortly after disabling and reenabling WiFi.
During testing, I connected the Android Device Monitor via USB, and each time the problem occurs, the logcat output shows something like that:
Code:

so it seems to me, that this is a software issue in the Z3 / Z3 compact, something in the network configuration is faulty ...
Ideas anyone?
Do you guys have Wifi on Location (or similiar) turned on in Energy control? So that the wifi turns on when you are near your access point? Turning that off solved a few wifi problems I have had.
edit: During the night my Z3C would turn to mobile data instead of staying on Wifi, turning it off has solved that.

Same here. Still persists
I already gave this information to the sony support forum and also to sony support via email. Don´t know if this "remove route"-thing is the actual problem, but as it always occurs just before WiFi becomes slow, it must at least be connected to the problem ...
I´m not allowed to post a link here to my thread on sony support forum, but if you google for Z3 WiFi slow after some minutes it should come up within the first search results ... "Wifi slow after some minutes" is also the title of the thread ...
I also have the issue where wifi seems to just stall. It is very random and doesnt last long, but it happens. I have found it occurs on my 2.4ghz but on my 5g it works fine.

Is bluetooth enabled? If so, try to switch it off and see if the problem is gone.
A second thing you can try is to set the localization mode to "battery saving" (Settings=>Localization, something like that, my phone is in german, so I don´t know the exact setting name) and see if it still happens.
Did you already change the WiFi channel on your router? Maybe it´s interference with nearby WiFi?
Update:
The issue (slow WiFi after some time) is a known android issue:
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=64706
The root cause is explaines in posts #115 and #136.
Basically it´s a problem of wrong TCP buffer sizes. I watched the buffer sizes on my device in the bad and in the good case and can confirm that this is exactly the problem I am facing.
Since this problem was patched already (https://android.googlesource.com/platform/frameworks/base/+/30a2bc8) I wonder why it did not make its way into the current Z3/Z3C firmware Will have to wait for Sonys answer ...

I also have this issue on my Z3 Compact. Wifi is horrible, have reverted to just using LTE. Hopefully this patch makes it into the next OS release; makes an otherwise great phone nearly unusable for certain high bandwidth activities!
According to the referenced thread on Sony's forum: https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z3-Compact/WiFi-slow-after-some-minutes/td-p/850657
Their firmware 23.0.1.A.5.77 and later includes a fix for this problem.

I am having the same issues on Build Number 23.1.A.0.726 (Android 5.0 Lollipop update) on my Xperia Z3 Compact Model D5803 too. I rebooted just now per someone else's instructions and seems to have cleared up for now.
Symptoms:
Mobile network is available and is 100% stable with mobile data switched off. (Does not lose Mobile network)
When switching on mobile data it connects without any issues and works.
After a random amount of time the phone reports, no network available. Signal triangle appears empty. RIL Crashed. Copsdaemon causes the battery to discharge very quickly.
No manual interaction (eg. Flight mode on/off, Mobile network on/off, Manual search for network) makes any difference, phone must be rebooted.
Update: Mobile data off, during voice call I pressed volume +. RIL died, phone reports no network available (same as mobile data)
I will attach 2 complete radio logs I have captured in the hope that someone can fix this.
I have found this to be a problem in the Novafusion (McClaw) Roms (tried CM10.2, CM11.0 and also Carbon latest roms available 19102014)
It would seem to be working for some people?, or maybe they just do not use mobile data.
Please share experiences.

Copsdaemon is still running, it kills the battery ( perharps RILD died as the java code threw an runtime exception, socket gets closed)
I gathered 2 crash logs please have a look
From lots of reading it seems like: LibRil -> Rild -> sends a unsolicited call to RIL.java (which throws an Exception see extract from logfile)
Code:
I/use-Rlog/RLOG-RIL_MAL(15810): NETLNK_LIB::(fn: netlnk_socket_recv)::SUCCESS

i have the same problem. i got no carrier after rom flashing. i had to reboot my phone to get network back.
my country is denmark and i'm using the latest version of baseband.
And i have the same problem.
Can someone from the developers to help us make sense of this?
Maybe even build/modify the necessary files from the source.
