Did you read the instructions? The first link is the OTA that you would get straight from Google. All you should do is copy the zip file to the root of your SD card and rename to update.zip (make sure it's not update.zip.zip by enabling show file extensions).

You also must have a STOCK recovery for the ota to work, as far as I know.

Yes, you need stock recovery. I assumed the OP does because he said he was unrooted.

Thread moved to Q&A.

Well, that's the answer you wanted. If you can't follow those directions, then we can't really help you anymore, there really isn't anything else to say. It was all right there.

yea it works fine, just did it

There isn't one, the update to FRF50 was from one version only.
soo currently theres no way for me to update to 2.2 till its released through official channels??
You could always unlock and flash one of the updates made for people with unlocked bootloaders.

Yes. The official channel is to wait for Google to push the update to your phone.
The unofficial is to root and flash the file paulobrien posted.
ok thanks for your help

Sorry, I'm a little bit confused. The mentioned archive contains 2 .img files. boot.img and radio.img. Do I have to apply them with fastboot? What happens to the rest of the archive (folders 'system' and 'META-INF')
Is there somewhere in the plains of internet a howto-for-dummies to install a frf83 on a already rooted epe54b?
Thank you.

K since you're already rooted you're halfway there...
Go here:
http://android.modaco.com/content/g...ed-update-zip-no-radio-option-online-kitchen/
and download this:
FRF50 with radio (recommended) - DOWNLOAD (MediaFire Pro) / MIRROR (ROMraid / CoBlitz) MD5: 946229291ed8e24cd80aeb4a66ca2fc7
Save the file to the root of your SD card (not to any folders) and then flash as per usual using Amon Ra or ROM Manager.
After reboot and had a taste of Froyo FRF-50
Go here and download http://coblitz.codeen.org/www.romraid.com/paul/nexusone/FRF83-update-nexusone-rooted-signed.zip
Save to your SD Card, rename to Update.zip (make sure you don't have the known file names hidden as a Windows setting otherwise, it will be Update.zip.zip) and Flash again.
Then you have the full flavoured Froyo with icing and cherry on top.
Enjoy

[Q] Dowgrade FRG83d to FRG83

I updated my N1 from FRG83 to FRG83d manually few days ago and wondering if I can downgrade to FRG83 or even FRF91? There is not much to it than I just like to get the firmware downloaded through OTA. Just curious!
Thanks in advance!

Back up your apps in Titanium, then flash one of the images from here: http://developer.htc.com/ and you are essentially downgraded!

I have a stock N1, but since 2.2 backs up all my apps and reinstalls, I am not worried much. But will I just be able to download the zip file rename as update.zip and install manually? Also, will I get all the Google services along with the zip file?
Thanks for the response.
Try the FRG33 passimg from shipped-roms.

Download it to the root of your sdcard, rename it to PASSIMG.zip, and install. It will flash all the partitions on your device back to stock. It's a stock image...

It didn't work! When I booted to recovery I saw it was loading PASSIMG.zip and it verified but after reboot, it still says FRG83D!

Strange. Which one did you use? Try this one: http://dl4.htc.com/RomCode/Source_and_Binaries/signed-passion-img-FRG83_0923.zip
Maybe try renaming it as update.zip instead of PASSIMG.zip.
If that doesn't work, I'll give you another suggestion.

Yes, that's the one I used! And please don't get me wrong but I use this phone for my work and is important that I don't screw the phone. Is there a tested solution to downgrade? So I can follow steps without damaging the phone?
Check it's not a zip within a zip
Edit: I can give you a 100% tested (by me) downgrade solution. Unlock the bootloader, download FRF91 from http://developer.htc.com and use fastboot to flash system.img and boot.img

You will certainly not damage your phone by doing that, so don't worry. Rename it to update.zip and try again.

As he did a manual update, I've assumed he's still on 0.33
Looks like this is yet to be achieved. passimg.zip of FRG33 says main version is older and 'update failed!' error.
Any other leads guys? Mine is a replaced Nexus One and it has FRG83D on it. I want to downgrade and then root. Help much appreciated!

I have a Mac and I and I am at work. I thought an 'all online' version exists already! VISIONary seems to be a good solution for < FRG83D but not 83D. Any other ideas?

Nexus One not on compatible phone list. This one guy had errors on N1 based on the replies. FRG83D is forcing me to consider the good old ADB route!

How to save the OTA update.zip before installing or grab the URL?

Is there a way to save the OTA update file before/after installing or a way to grab the OTA URL? It was possible on my old Galaxy Nexus -but actually I don't remember how.
Thanks in advance!

Best/Easiest way to update rooted P20 Pro?

There's been several updates I have been unable to install as I am rooted. Is there an easy way to apply updates? Can you unroot, apply updates, then re-root for example? I'm confused about what might be the way. I've seen the debrand thread. But you would still be rooted and therefore unable to apply future updates?
Any advise appreciated

Hurupdater is the simplest solution and I've never had any issues at all.
Did you rename the files correctly?
Did you download the correct files?
Did you put unofficial TWRP .IMG in same directory as the other files and renamed it?
So in total you should have 5 files in one directory. Then just flash hurupdater .zip file in TWRP. That's it.

What can be easier then flashing one file then simply installing an actual official update?
Hu isn't hard I agree but it's certainly not easier then flashing one file.

Yea just flash no check recovery and it'll overlook the twrp recovery when you install the OTA update is system update.
Obviously has to be an official update but that's all the tinkering that's required.
No check is in the files listed in my guide from my Sig.
Funky huawei by far.
