Question: answering a call while screen is off - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm running the newest damage control rom with dark envy theme.
When I get a call and my screen is off The call comes up with then unlock to answer . It is the my touch unlocker (although my actual is the rotary) it is so laggy I almost can't get the phone answered in time.
Is there a fix? Or a way I can
change which unlocker it shows?

if its laggy why don't u just remove it?? never heard of a unlocker for when u answer the phone..

um... you dont pull down to answer a phone call?......

Are you using SetCPU with a profile for Screen off? If so, make sure the max speed isn't too low or else the CPU speed can't ramp up in time.

wow that was it! thanks alot!

i know hurts my eyes looking at it. supposed to give excellent battery life though.
no it does not, i ran a test (its in the general section) because of the "render" it slows your phone down considerably and wastes cpu cycles ergo negating any battery life you would have saved (if you had an oled screen), but since we have an lcd screen EVERY pixel is lit up regardless if its in use or not. i had 29 hours with almost no use, people on here get longer then that with a bit of use...
TL: DR slows your phone down, does make it look cool if your into that, but it doesnt save battery from what ive seen
I would love this app and I dont care if it kills my battery. The green is nice for using screen at night. Better then white screen at night. So do we have a answer where can we get it? Running droidX.
If you are using CM6, it is in Settings > Cyan Settings > Render effect.
You can also add a render fx widget to your home screen. Add it like any other widget.

Cm6 is not supported on droidX. I do have and use it on my original Droid. And im looking for this or something like it.

You're right. The whole idea of showing only one color exploits the technology of OLED and its ability to only light up pixels on demand. LCD works by having the entire backlight always on, with polarizers selectively attenuating the light appropriately for each pixel. That's why LCD cannot achieve true black like OLED, and that's why OLED contrast ratio tests destroy LCD.
Since our Hero has the latter technology, this has absolutely no positive effects for us. Don't use it unless you like less colors.
So I have torn apart most of cyanogenmod's roms and settings trying to find this. So if anyone has it please upload that would be awesome
here is the spare parts APK. i havent tried pushing it yet, but its worth a shot.

It would be nice to have as I like the way cm looks at night with this
And would love to have a widget since I must move away from the

Isn't the and when using bluetooth stereo headset made by samsung
Incoming callers and my own outgoing calls can't hear me and i can't
hear them...just weird aosp issue...
Anyway would love a widget with this function.
If you're running CM7 then its settings > cyanogenmod settings > interface > render effect
I don't know exactly what rom the OP is running so I just posted directions to it in CM7

great idea, i have this same problem with my daughter hanging up when she talks on my phone
Nice!! Great work as always ihtfp69!! Thanks!!
My goodness man, do you ever sleep? Nice work!!
Awesome. Anyway someone could mod this to have the trackball be an optional hangup button?
Nice. My only suggestion would be to replace the 'Disabled' shareholder with something more interesting.

Incredible - Virtuous 3.2
The man comes out with yet another golden idea.
Thanks for this. It's genius! Or rather, you are.
And I love how the bar slowly pulses green when in a call. Now I won't constantly check my phone to see if I accidentally hung up on someone.
Edit: I flashed Athena and got a black clock and lost the fancy signal bars, lol. I loved it otherwise! Restoring and going with the other.
Hahah my 3 yr old does this ALL THE TIME. And... I gotta admit, I've accidentally hung up on a few people too....
Great idea man.... sometimes the little things make all the difference
Thanks for your time and hard work bro, very professional.

This only happens when the phone is pin locked. The work around is to tap the contact button in the lower right and unlock the phone.

Well... My question is: if I am asking and somebody gives me that kind of anwser -- very arrogant...
Anyway 1st of all: where do you know that your phone is still alive if it is stand-by???
Second: My wife just bought DHD and her 1st question is how do I know that this phone is still alive and kicking if it is stand-by mode?
I do not have courage to ask same question you asked from me... I can only trying to find that kind of application...;)
And.... I think... blinking led f.e every 60 secs doesn't consume battery a lot??

[Q] FroyobyLaszlo ROM

Hi All. Long time follower on XDA for the G1 (9 months after the G1 debut) but first time posting. I just recently did the 2708+hboot hack for the 14mb to flash and test the lastest ROMs. I've tried everything that is currently available for download on XDA development and found that Laszlo 5.2 to be the smoothest and fastest (just as fast as Super CSDI).
I read through the entire post to see if anyone has experienced the same thing as I did, but no one really did. This ROM is amazing and everything is working great, but one thing. My question is--The Audible selection and screen lock sound do not work. One person ask about the screen lock sound not working, but no one answered. Is anyone else getting this problem besides me and is there a fix. I flash it several times and on 3 different G1s and get the same results. Maybe the download of the ROM I'm flashing is slightly corrupt. Any thoughts??? Thanks everyone for all your help through these years keeping the G1 alive and still amazing.

im not using that rom at the moment but as far as i know the sounds were working.. is he using a kernel with it? maybe its messing with it..
Don't know what you mean by "Audible selection", but I would guess for the lock/unlock sound you need to install the audio from addons (since it contains the file). Type "addons" in terminal and follow the on-screen prompts.
The Audible selection and screen lock sound
what is this?

Hi Adam, your the Man!
Thank you so much. Your suggestion fixed it. I was playing with Super Aosp 6.0 when you made the suggestion and I was very hesitant to flash again to find out that it might do nothing. But the speed of Laszlo was just to good to not find out, so I did and I'm glad I did.
I'm surprised that hardly anyone knew what I was talking about. So to clarify, if you go into Setting>Sound and then scoll down a bit you will see Audible selection and Screen lock sound options. The Audible selection is when it makes a 'Click' type sound when you select something. That extra audible feedback is very helpful.
I was going to just put up with Laszlo 5.2 even without sound if I had too, but I'm glad I don't.
Now I can finally stay with this for awhile to see if it is stable as well as fast.
Thanks again.
Rick

[Q] Does slide to unlock work ?

With screen lock disabled (no password/pin/pattern/face), I find that slide to unlock does not work. What I mean is that a simple touch (anywhere), unlocks the device.
Is this normal behaviour ?
Thats is wierd, you should still need to slide somewhere ... can u post a quick video ?
You sure you're not sliding somewhere? You don't have to slide from the lock, you can pull up from the middle left of the screen or wherever you please..
This does sound odd if you're just tapping . Like the v-b-n said, is there a chance you can post a video?

I'll take a video with my old phone in a few mins. Need to charge it.
Is there any specific parts of my phone you want to see or just the unlock bit ?

I can't seem to find any option that disables slide to unlock, so at this point, no.. Just go ahead and demonstrate the touch to unlock if it unlocks, i dont know what to tell you to be honest :s looks like a defect

It's uploading now.
I'm pretty sure I noticed this before on stock, I am running a custom kernel and ROM. ARHD 7.3 and faux123 kernel. I don't necessarily want to revert back just to confirm it.

That's what it was. I had Tasker and Pebble enabled in the accessibility section. Disabling those, gave me proper slide to unlock. But that's dumb, because now Tasker and Pebble won't work properly (especially Pebble).
but that did solve it.

I was thinking if accessibility options but taking a look at mine, I couldn't find anything that would interfere or cause similar problems.
What exactly are you using Tasker for? I have Tasker enabled, but the Tasker JB option is disabled. Tasker is working properly in my case

I believe Tasker needs accessiblity for access app information like K9 mail. I can probably live without that, but Pebble notifications, that's hard to ignore because the watch itself is useless without it.

Quite interesting... Odd to see Pebble breaking it..
I'd rather live with tap to unlock than without Pebble.
Maybe try widgetlocker or try go locker with some kind of sense theme.
No need for root. Won't be as seamless, might take up more battery, but you get proper functionality
A little off topic, what do you think of Pebble?
Personally, I think the functionality on paper is pretty good, but i dont see myself wearing it because of the looks (i like more circular, military style, all black, discrete stealth watches)..
And then just wait for HTC or Pebble dw

The watch is good. It's my third smart watch. I have a MetaWatch digital and Analog as well. For a more elegant look, I prefer the Metawatch analog, but for a day to day @ work and stuff, the pebble is great. I hardly use my Metawatch digital. The pebble feels very...plastic. Not very good build quality if im being honest, but Metawatch...amazing build quality. Feels proper.
I found a work around for it. It requires root access, Tasker and Secure Settings.
What I did was create a Context that is activated when the display is on and then using Secure Settings, disable all Accessibility for all events. As an exit task, I re-enable all my accessibility apps.
Now when i turn on my display, I actually have to slide to unlock.
