Hi,
anyone has a tip how I can downgrade from FRF91 (whic I got via OTA this mornig) back to FRF83?
I really regret upgrading.. overall feeling is worse, and GPS seems to stop fixing on satellites at all..
so - may be someone has a reliable method to go back to FRF83? or any tips how to get GPS back into functioning correctly?
thanks!
Ok, it seems that I've fixed most of the issues.
for those that also have the GPS issue (the most noticable) after the OTA update from FRF83 to FRF91 - here it is how I've fixed it:
I've downloaded the full FRF91 image : the link can be found is in this post: Official Froyo OTA
and manually installed it via recovery. Basicaly - FRF91 over FRF91 - but it did the trick and I'm happy now.
Did you try wiping the cache from recovery? Seems to have helped a few people with issues.

I want to update my nexus to FRF85b. However, i found that all the links are dead. Is there any other links to download the update? ( without rooting pls )
Really nid help in this. Cant find any links . Thks in advance.
I just got the update OTA this morning (even though I'm rooted!), unfortunately it could not be applied because either I have a custom recovery, or I'm rooted. (verification failed)
Havent seen an FRF83 to FRF91 update file, so you probably need to go from FRF83 -> FRF85B -> FRF91
http://www.redmondpie.com/download-android-2.2-froyo-frf91-nexus-one-stock-root/
I am also having this issue, the frf83 to frf85b file seems to be taken off google servers.
Yeah but how do you get to FRF83 -> FRF85B? Can't find anything have been looking for 15mins.
The link from google is down.
Oh wait, I think you can use the Universal FRF91 OTA Update?

That's what I had to do - I needed to find/download the stock FRF83, FRF85B, FRF91 roms that could be applied with a custom recovery.
I'm on stock FRF85B, because I want to try the vanilla Google Experience of Froyo before switching to CyanogenMod 6 when it's out. I didn't upgrade to FRF91 when it was released, so I got the OTA. However, because I have a custom recovery, I can't install the OTA update.
The system update says that it contains security fixes. If it's really just that, I won't bother upgrading to FRF91 before switching to CM6 when it's out.
What exactly is the difference between FRF85B and FRF91?
There is no difference. As you said its just some minor under the hood security fixes.
Could it be that the security fixes in FRF91 prevent adb from finding "recovery" to stop rooting? It seems that the threads for rooting without unlocking require non-FRF91.
Ok, I have a phone with unlocked boot loader and FRF50 on it.
I put the original system recovery on (it had another prior to my ownership), but when the OTA update arrives, I get the following error:
Verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/framework/am.jar", "efccd3...:, ea...: )
E: Error in /cache/836691a1ca8b.signed-passion-FRF91-from-FRF50.836691a9.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted...
Any ideas???
Thanks!!!
have you tried doing the line of updates start from frf50 then do frf83 then frf83b then do frf91
No, but based on the error it looks like it was trying to go from FR50 (installed) to FRF91 based on the update file name....
I'm not doing this manually, I'm letting the OTA update take care of it....
Can you point me to the update images? I'd like to get it to do OTA updates again, but if I have to do manual I guess I'll deal with it...
I wonder if it is a problem with the v 2E recovery?
Hey Pete,
I am getting the exact same issue with my nexus over here in Oz. I jumped on the early release and manually installed and now it wont update from frf50-frf91 OTA with the above error.
Very frustrating. I wondered if a wipe data/factory reset then wait for another OTA might work. I am unsure of exactly how much that will affect the phone though. I would rather not lose pictures and movies on the SD card and apps would be a PITA to get back on with my settings.
Maybe the manual updates might be a good place to start.
What version of the recovery do you have on your phone?

I am a bit of a noob Pete when it comes to Android and Nexus. I am not sure on the version or even how to check. Can you give me a hint ??
I have an un-rooted stock phone which I downloaded the FRF 50 update to when it first came out. I have made no other changes to it.
Give me a call centre skills based routing or call recording system and I'm your man, but smart phones are not in my skillset... I am trying to learn though. I just learnt what the ADB is.
you are on stock recovery and rom...and you wont anything in your SD card it doesnt wipe sdcard, only the phone setup, and if you have the backup feature on phoen you wont really lose the apps either
you can always do the #*#CHECKIN#*# on dial pad then go to settings and check for updates to see if you can get the OTA
i did it mainually it i couldnt wait any longer for the OTA.. so its not really hard to do it maunally lol
Even if I do that with my FRF50 phone, it just says success...
It took a week for the OTA update to reattempt an install. (and fail)
I did download a full signed FRF91 which I'm going to try applying soon, I hope after that OTA's will just be automatic...
Fixed at last !!!
I went through this forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=717870
Which took me back to epe76. I then went to frf85b with a link further in the same thread and got an instant OTA update to frf91.
YAY FIXED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Forgot to post here, I downloaded the complete FRF91 signed and just installed it. Contains everyting including radio.
I don't have the link anymore, but I recall it contained the words, "FRF91", "signed", "passion"....
That should get you there...
Hi All,
Im on the Official ICS ROM INDIA...4.0.3 DDLP4
Yesterday, when i checked kies, there was an update waiting (No Update on OTA). The downloading of firmware was taking ages to download(3.2mbps connection) and after about 70 percent the downloading stopped and Kies said "Connection stopped"....
Any body who has downloaded the F/W can you please post the change log (If you find any).. I mainly wanna know, if the laggness of the lock screen and slowness to open contact's and capturing pics has been rectified.

Ah glad that i have company.sad at the same time!! Even i have the same problem after the 7mb OTA update. The andriod process closes often and hangs the phone. The phone was literally unusable. Hence i tried to install custom gingerbread rom on it. Now its almost completely bricked. How irresponsible is samsung to roll these things out without testing it thoroughly.
***PLEASE DON'T INSTALL THE 7MB ICS OTA UPDATE***
hopefully we can save some.
I also tried to update through OTA but it was failed and message popped up that do update through Kies. Now I got update through Kies and my firmware changed from DDLP4 to DDLPA. However I lost Root.
I also received the update notification. Downloaded the 7.8 mb update within a minute and asked for reboot. Everything worked fine and nothing special noticed. It just changed the build no. from IML74K.DDLPA to IML74K.DDLP8

you mean LP8 to LPA? check your kernel version date. if it shows 12 June then fine, else your kernel has not been updated.
Hey guys basically its stability update. my phone feels much smoother now. i updated OTA via wifi, i also faced update not installed issue and i found out the problem, basically we all root our device that means we change SU binaries so when updating phone OTA it checks for those binaries and if these binaries are not official OTA update get aborted. i solved this problem like this,
1) I have downloaded STOCK LP8 firmware from samobile.com when it released
2) As my phone is rooted my SU binaries are changed so OTA update is aborted.
3) So FLASHED Stock rom LP8 from PC ODIN which kept my all DATA, APPS intact i just lost my root and some mods like 15toggles status bar and so..
4)then i started updating my phone using S/W update in settings, its 7.85MB file.
5)In few minutes my phone is updated to LPA
6)Now i again rooted my phone and my all data apps are intact and mob is much improved in stability.
Hope this will help you guys.

kernel is definitely updated in LPA. just flash LPA ROM file using Odin.
I also agree with what mullarameez has pointed out. rooting might be the reason for kernel being skipped. because if u flash LPA with odin you will lose root and hence get the new kernel.
Is there a way to update Kernel without flashing the whole 650 mb rom?
with all the issues in ICS, i think it would be safest if you would flash using the whole LPA ROM. I know its a pain to download but worth it in the end.
OMG! just a 7Mb update took 2hrs to download.. Hmmmm...
My main prob was with Lock screen, camera and contacts.. Noting has been resolved on this new Update!!!
what is the issue? is it lag?
This is confusing..
I have everything stock on my phone..All updates done OTA since i bought the phone..Not rooted..
Still the kernel says 12 May after the 7mb update..Why?? Although the deep sleep issue (sore point for me) seems to have been resolved after this update...
PS: The build info after *#1234# says 12 June, if that matters..
yes, almost all the users who updated OTA have the same issue. you may flash the new LPA using PC Odin from doc's post (anyways you're not rooted so no problem)
hi all, I'm a little lost on what to do. I'm trying to update my phone because I'm not receiving texts out of town (need to reset my phone to get them all every time).
My phone has the following:
android 4.2.2 vs98012b (verizon)
rooted w twrp installed (and I'm guessing some sort of ota block since it hasn't updated)
What I want to do is update my phone so it can get texts out of town so I'm thinking OTA? I've searched and found
VS98024A - OTA manual install + Patched Stock Kernels (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2699123), is this the way to go?
Is there a flash I can just use? I don't need the latest OTA or Android OS since I'm fine with what I'm using now (although that would be nice too).
anyways, a point in the right direction would be much appreciated. thanks!

You need to wipe your phone to out of the box stock to use that method, if you're gonna wipe clean, you might as well take the OTA's to the current version of android on our phones.
Another option is this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715408
You would just need to update your baseband following the instructions in the post then install the rom via TWRP.
Either way you're gonna be wiping your phone clean.
Thank you. I went with the 2nd option and my phone is running great with the update.
Although it took awhile to reconfigure everything back.
