Revert from custom recovery image to stock recovery image - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have N1 with FRF83, but with custom recovery image and some other customizations.
Since I can't OTA update to FRF91 or even 85b from custom images, how do I revert back to the stock FRF83 completely?

grab a recovery out of one of the passimg files in the dev section and flash it.

Thanks, but I forgot to mention one thing: I am a complete noob.
If you could say it in English, I'd appreciate it

Screw it, just install this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715799

Every forum needs a sticky of the latest build in both update.zip and customrecovery.zip form. This is insane

I agree with what you're saying, but all of the PASSIMG files I've downloaded that are linked in this forum and modaco come up saying that the "Compressed (zipped) file is invalid"
Is there another way to unzip these files?? Can someone post all of the original .img files somewhere so that we dont have to continually **** around with all of this ****.
FFS!

They are normal zip-files that work fine. If they are ok at the source the problem is on your end. I've never had a problem with them.
Try one of those from here. The modaco ones are correct too though.

the PASSIMG.zip files aren't actually zip files, they're "nbh" files. You can't open them up
You just put it on the sd card and boot up into bootloader and it auto loads and recovers back to stock.
Great if you have T-Mobile Nexus One since that's what's out there.
There isn't a working AT&T version that I've found.

You can open them up and extract the contents fine.

Thank you so much for this link. I'm a kind of a noob to this android thing to and I'm learning the hard way.

if you need to get back to a stock spl, then you will need to
a. find the stock spl
b. re-root your phone
c. flash the stock spl
d. re-apply the DREAIMG.nbh file
or when you get to c. you could change the stock spl into the 2.22.19.26I radio, then d. into wiping and flashing a rom. either way, whatever works for you.

[GUIDE] Easiest way to unroot HTC Legend

Hi..
I decided to make an "EASY TO USE" unroot guide for the HTC Legend..
Here goes..
First..
If you want to unroot to software version 1.31
... download this file and put it in the root of your SD-card..
- This version can easily be rooted again..
If you want to unroot to software version 2.03
... download this file and put it in the root of your SD-card..
- This version will need a downgrade in order to root phone again..
When the wanted file is on your SD-card turn OFF your phone..
EDIT: *** NB: Reported in that this might not work if SD-card is partitioned with ext-partition. If not working try to use a fat32-only ***
Turn the phone ON while holding VOLUME DOWN..
The phone will detect the LEGEIMG.zip file on the SD-card and
ask you to upgrade..
Select YES.. And wait...
This should do the trick....
Nice and simple. Good work m8.
Good guide. Straight to the point. Keep up the good work.
Is there any way to. Convert the rom. Zip with the ruu to legeimg. Zip
Sent from my Legend using XDA App
Yep... extract ROM.zip from RUU and rename it to LEGEIMG.zip.
Hello,
I'm not familiar yet with rooting.
When this procedure is done, will I have a working Legend device ?
Which rom will it be running ?
How could I "upload" CyanogenMod to this rooted legend ?
I've search the web, but I do not get everything yet...
Thank you for your hep !
Yannick
Thanks for the guide, but it doesn't work for me.
"No image or wrong name!" message appears.
I've tried your first link and my own rom.zip renamed to LEGEIMG.zip .

Something had gone wrong, wipe wasn't working and it kept rebooting so I was forced to... once CM 6.1 Stable releases, I'll root it again.

Can someone help me with this? I keep getting an error. I can't flash the LEGEIMG.zip by reboot & vol dn+power nor by clockwork. Tried downloading the file twice, tried my extracted rom.zip and it just doesn't work.
What else can I do?
Can you post md5 of this zip?
What I did was put the file in the root of the SD Card...
Switch off the Legend and switch it on while having the Volume down button pressed. It flashes automatically.

Sorry, I wrote about it on the previous page. This message was kind of stupid bump.
Love you too.
It says 'error' tho, before error messages, so you're right. In green tho.
Something like 'Wrong image!', 'Can't find image'. All about LEGEIMG.zip . It dissapears fast.

One of two problems..
1) You did not put the download in the ROOT of your sd- card or
2) you have renamed the file..
One of these things are causing the error..
Sent from my Legend using XDA App
I'm 100% sure I haven't renamed the file and it's in the root (astro file manager shows it in /mnt/sdcard). If ROOT means sdcard top folder then there it is.
edit: clockwork says "Can't open /sdcard/LEGEIMG.zip (bad)". Hence the request for md5 - but I doubt triple download would cause some inconsistency in file.
I got CID incorect error, what does it mean?

[Q] Going back to stock

So i have a nexus one from google and i want dutch langauge on it because my english is not good. So i found a froyo vodafone passimg and flashed that but my nexus did not get the ota to gingerbread. Does it exist? If so where can i download a Voda Gingerbread?
Bumpy Bump
After using the revolutionary search engine called Google, I seem to have found a gingerbread ota that should do the trick.
Just rename it to passimg.zip and it should do the trick.

Hmm.. are you sure you did all the steps necessary?
1. Rename the downloaded zip file to "Passimg.zip"
2. Place it in the root of your sdcard. That is, in no subfolder.
3. Reboot into the bootloader and it will scan for files named "passimg.zip"
4. When found, it will ask you to update or not.

Hmm.. weird. I have no idea, then.
---------- Post added at 06:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:24 PM ----------
After reading up a bit and doing some more googling, I seem to have found a solution as to why it wouldn't work. It seems that file you renamed as passimg.zip was actually an update zip and no passimg zip. A bit confusing at first, but this WILL (read: should) work.
Download THIS and rename passimg.zip and place in the root of your sdcard (this will revert to android 2.3.4)
Now download THIS and rename update.zip and move to the root of your sdcard
Now reboot into the bootloader, choose to apply the passimg and then enter the recovery (this will be a stock recovery solution) and flash update.zip
ALL data is flashed, the hboot is returned to stock, radio is returned to stock but the bootloader will stay unlocked if you unlocked it using the fastboot oem unlock code before.
EDIT: I don't know if this is vodafone. I just found a "generic" gingerbread, but it should have the language you prefer.

[q] ROM Help

First off, yes i'm a noob
Secondly, i apologise if this is a question that has already been answered but i swear i've been looking for a good while now and can't find the answer.
Thirdly, if this is in the wrong section then i apologise.
Now that i have that out of the way, onto my problem. I have recently purchased an HTC One and I've unlocked the bootloader and rooted it, i now want to i try out some custom roms. The trouble i seem to be having is that recovery mode requires you to flash a .zip file but whenever i download a rom, the end product is not a zip file but a folder that contains numerous other files that contain no zip file. I have still copied the folder to the phone but when i try to install through TWRP there is no recognisable zip file.
I have even tried converting said folder and files into a zip file and trying to flash that but to no avail.
I am downloading the files on a Mac, i don't know if this bears any relevance but i thought i should mention it.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Which rom are you trying to flash? and if it is downloaded into folders, surely making them into a .zip should make it flashable via recovery? if not then it's a bad rom?
I've tried several ROMs but the latest one I've tried is ViperOne. Well I thought converting it to zip would work also but no.
I never had this issue downloading or flashing ROMs to my Sensation or S2.

Thank you very much for that, such a simple solution but its been driving me mad. I'll have a look and see if there is a setting to stop it from unzipping when it finishes downloading.

Desperate need of rogers stock recovery.img for htc one

Alright here goes...
Because of this awful mistake I learned alot about rooting and custom recovery etc.
Basically, I have a ROGERS HTC ONE that has been ROOTED, UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER and custom recovery CWM. I tried vanilla android but I did not like it at all.
I wanted to get back to complete bare stock how I started... But I forgot to back up from my original out of box condition.
I used a nandroid provided by XDA (Thank you!) but I can not get my OTAs when I update. I tried to flash the recovery located in the nandroid backup but it still recovers as CWM, most probably because this backup was done THROUGH CWM. I want it to be COMPLETELY STOCK and I know I'm pretty much half way there. I can either do it through RUU or stock recovery of rogers, which is absolutely impossible to find either... so I just need help and guidance in steps to take from here.
Again,
I am UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER, ROOTED, CWM RECOVERY. My HTC ONE is originally ROGERS. I've already restored the nandroid backup XDA provided for rogers. Now I just want automatic OTAs and from my understanding I need a STOCK RECOVERY. Please help me get that set up... thank you so much!!
Regards,
Nuj
UPDATE
I got a file from HTCdev site. It's a Kernel specifically for Rogers HTC One but it's a .tar file. Do you know how to flash the .tar file? I was wondering if this kernel provided by htcdev for Rogers HTC one will do the trick, if so, how do I flash it because it's a .tar file..
