Photos Lost - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys. I recently followed the guide and rooted my n1 without unlocking the bootloader. Today I flashed a new rom, after setting up the phone to my liking I went to show someone a photo.....they are all gone.
I tried restoring my previous nandroid backup. No luck.
Why would the photos on my sd card be erased from flashing the phone? Is there any way to get them back? I had countless important and irreplaceable photos stored on the phone...
Thanks guys

mount the SD card on your computer and check if they're there. It may be that for whatever reason the rom isnt picking them up - unlikely tho :-/
I'm guessing you did a full wipe including sdcard in the custom recovery by mistake.

oh and btw, if you did format the sdcard by mistake, you should probbaly mount it to your PC and use a 'uneraser' to try to recover your pictures. Better do it soon before more of the sdcard gets overwritten by new stuff.

They should be on your SD card. /DCIM/Camera/

Cant wipe all data with factory reset or Odin 1 click!!! HELP

Hi, Im trying to exchange my phone and Im having issues with getting the phone bone stock. I used odin 1 click, did a factory data reset, and all my pictures, app folders and various other things are still on the internal SD card. I was using titanium backup, I think thats the cause (not sure though)
I also just flashed JH3, super rooter, and the OC kernel. But as far as I can tell, those are back to factory. I just cant wipe all my data and I dont know if doing it manually will clear up everything.
Suggestions/questions? Thanks!
I even tried the master clear. I can still see files for shootme, sl4a, clockworkmod, update.zip's, and tons of other folders including busybox
Did you try connecting your phone to your computer, mounting the sd card, then open the driver than your sd card is on and manually delete the files that way? You can move the titanium back up to an external sd card and see if that helps.
Go to Titanium Backup support and shoot them a pm, they got back to me within a day when I had questions if you think it's related to that.

I can do that, But what Im worried about is all the application data (including data for apps that require root) wont be deleted. Im not sure exactly what I would have to do to remove that as well. I wanted to leave it there, so that if I did manage to wipe it, Id know for sure everything was gone.
Ill also try sending them a message. Is it on that forum site they link to? Its not very clear as to how to contact them

I pm'd Shazd, I have the pro donated version so I had everything backed up, moved the folder for Titanium Backup and the folder for Titanium license to my exteral card. Then I flashed with Odin to stock and swapped my phone for a new one. Then I put the sd card in the new phone, connected to my computer and moved the files to the internal sd, installed Titanium from the market and when it installed my entire backup was there, settings, apps, and data were all there. I did a restore and everything was just as my old phone. Then I installed Unleash The Beast, the cool battery indicator, thanks to Designgears and the rest is history. When I flashed with Odin, all evidence of root were gone. AT&T didn't even check the phone, all I said was random shutdowns and a crack in the screen and they swapped it.
I have the paid donate version as well. I mean, I have the backup saved to my microsd and on my computer, Its just weird, I mean for some reason its not wiping. Im literally trying everything. I had a backup with clockwork mod and I re-rooted with 1 click root so that I could run that... It may be super rooter, Im starting to think thats more the case. But I really am just stumped
I flashed with Odin3 one click, maybe that's the difference. What did you use exactly?

Both versions lol. 1-click and version 1.0 or whatever by flashing the stock firmware Jh6 from samsung-firmwares.com. I even tried a factory data reset
It may just be files in my internal SD card themselves that arent being deleted... but Im not really sure
It didn't wipe all of my info when I did master clear and then doing the one click wipe. I'm bit sure why it wouldn't either but it did remove most of what I wanted gone.
Sweet life
Huh... Well I did a bunch of clear cache things, wiped my internal sd, and went throught my phone with root explorer and deleted whatever else I found. Wow that was a huge hassle
I think the best thing to do in the future is clear all user data through clockwork, then use odin for master clear then odin start to do it all. It is a hassle that's for sure.
The SD cards (internal and external) are not cleared with a full system wipe. When you delete all data through a system clear, it deletes everything stored internally to apps - in the phone memory where apps are installed.
Although the internal SD card is not really an SD card, the system treats it as an SD card. You can unmount both internal and external SD cards and then format them - that will wipe all data. Follow that with a system reset or Odin 1 click recovery and everything on your phone is factory new.
The phone is behaving as designed.

[Q] [HELP] Internal SD card corrupted and need to retrieve CWM backups

Please hear me out, as I know that this is not a typical dev forum question: As far as I can tell, I have an issue that seems to be affecting a good number of users. I was hoping that this thread might help someone in the Dev community figure out the problem.
I have a Canadian I9000M running Darkys ROM with NO lagfix and all tweaks but misc enabled. It has been running for 2 weeks without issue. I have multiple CWM backups on the internal SD card.
OK, here is what happened. This morning my phone was off and unresponsive, after removing and replacing the battery, the phone would boot up but the internal SD card would not mount in Android, giving the message "internal SD card damaged".
Tried to flash a whole bunch of backups, ROMs, kernals, etc. incl various Eclair and Froyo. Nothing will successfully boot except for my backup of Darky`s Froyo, and of course the internal SD is not available - as well as all my apps and settings. I was only able to boot the phone again when I flashed the Super Optimized Kernal and used CWM to restore my last backup.
I can`t mount the SD in any way - from within Android or CWM.
Here is the interesting part. CWM can still see my backups and restore them! So the internal SD is still functional to some degree, right?
Question: Can I move the CWM backups off the internal SD from within recovery mode? I tried playing with adb but couldn`t figure it out. I would like to avoid trying to reformat the internal SD before I can do this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

OK, so it looks like because the SD card was getting flaky, adb was not behaving consistently. I was able to connect to the phone in recovery mode and pull the entire contents of the internal SD using adb pull.
Now, anyone have any ideas to get my SD card back in Android??? Reflashing ROMs with PIT doesn't seem to do it. I will try again...

[Q] Emergency! Cannot restore Nexus One!

Hello out there!
I sure hope someone can help me with this! I have rendered my phone completely useless. I have been working on this thing for the past 7 straight hours.
I upgraded to the 5.08 radio and then the MIUI_Au_1.1.28_R4_N1_EN-signed.zip
Everything was working beautifully until I decided to do a Nandroid restore. I guess I did not truly understand the function of this. After a reboot, I was back at square one.
I rebooted again into the recovery mode and then wiped and reinstalled the new rom. Now the new rom is giving me an error. I cannot get any network connectivity from it. I wipe and reinstall several more times and get the same effect.
This is when I get the idea to format and partition the SDcard from within the recovery menu. This was clearly not the best choice.
I cannot get the phone to restore back to factory anymore. The SDcard is empty. I have even taken it out. When it boots up it still boots into some non-working version of the new MIUI rom. No network connectivity. Where is it storing this? I have wiped everything possible. Played with partitions. I have tried hard resetting in the limited interface and in the Recovery console.
At this point, I cannot work on this any longer. My next idea is to put the micro SD card in another device and put original stock image on it. Is it possible that the new rom installed a kernel and that is what I am seeing? I figure if I can install a different rom from the SD card I might just be ok.
Any input into this mess would be greatly appreciated. Because I still have access to the Recovery console I know this is not the end for my phone.
Someone please tell me they know what is going on!
I would be happy to elaborate any more points regarding this issue.
It seems to me that I am not able to delete something because the new rom keeps coming up. Where is it booting from if I wiped everything?
I am at my witts end!
Thank you so much for your thoughtful responses!

If you can enter the recovery mode, you just have to enable the SDCard to browse it from your computer. From there you can push in the sdcard whatever zip you wish. Remember to wipe cache and data.
If you can't enter the recovery mode, go in fastboot and flash it again.
And of course, the ROM is booting from /system partition on internal Flash memory in the device, which you can't wipe without knowing fastboot/adb commands - which obviously isn't the case. Wiping SD card won't do anything, and wiping user data isn't going to help you either.
As already mentioned above, since your recovery is working - get into it, mount the USB-MS, connect to PC, copy a ROM of your choice to the SD card, unmount, flash it, enjoy. I suggest RTFM before doing things.
Gratitude!
Thank you for your replies!
I have been putting off doing this upgrade for some time and have been living with limited functionality on the phone due to the amount of time and research I would have to put in to make sure I cross all my t's and dot all my i's.
I was never able to get the MS-USB toggle to work. Windows XP would not show I had put a new drive in when I used it.
I remedied the situation by getting a microSD to SD adapter so that I could put the new rom on the SD card. I used the original microSD card at first and installed the MIUI again. This caused me the same results of rebooting a few times before it went into the rom. When it got in I had no network connectivity.
I decided I would try this brand new microSD card and put the EvIL rom 1.26 on it instead.
I wiped and installed the Evil rom on the new card and Walla!
I have Evil rom now working with network functionality. There must have been some kind of hidden garbage on the old microSD that was keeping me down.
8 hours into the project, I AM SO HAPPY TO HAVE MY PHONE UP AND RUNNING!!!!
I hope others may find this post useful!
Many Blessings & Thanks!

HELP!

Hi everyone, I had recently bought an SGS from Ebay, its an i9000. I had rooted and flashed Darkys ROM 10.2.2 extreme edition; everything was working fine.
However today after turning wifi on for the first time on this ROM the phone started randomly rebooting and would not stop doing so, attempted to take wifi off but on reboot it would be re-enabled.
ive attempted to get into recovery mode but it does not seem to want to, i can get into download mode so i can reflash via odin, but i would prefer to just restore via clockwork mod. any suggestions?
edit: i have now been able to get into recovery mode, however, i had previously backed up my external and internal sd cards to partition, after partitioning, i put them all back onto the external, and now clockwork mod tells me i cant restore as it cant find the backup folder :\ i cant keep the phone on long enough to mount the internal storage
any ideas?
You say you backed up your external and internal SD Cards to partition? This is a bit unclear for me, did you do a nandroid backup?
It's totally different than just copy pasting folders. If you DID just copy a backup of your phone via file manager or something then I don't think you'd ever be able to restore to that.
Best thing I can tell you to do now is reflash via ODIN... and remember to do a nandroid backup after.
You can't access the External SD while in CWM (as far as I know), so the only option you have left is to flash via Odin. Get used to it.
thanks for the replies problem solved. to clarify i had a nandroid back ip on my sd which i moved before partitioning, after partitioning i moved it to external sd and clockwork only checks internal sd

[Q] Problems viewing CWM Backups on my PC and phone

Hey guys, I realise that I may not be on the correct forum for this and for that i apologise, however I am quite new to this website and don't know my way around.
Anyway, I have recently backed up my whole phone storage to SD card using CWM recovery as there was no option to backup to an internal device. I wanted to take the backup and move it to my computer but I have a HTC One m7 which has no SD card. This isn't normally a problem for me because all the files seem to show up on the internal storage when i look on my computer anyway however despite searching through all of the folders, I simply cant find. The backup is 5gb in total and I know that it has been made sucessfully because my available storage has decreased by 5GB but it simply can't be found. Even when i look at the file manager on my phone I can't see it. Even if I can't move it to my PC I atleast want to be able to delete it, will factory resetting the device remove root access aswell as everything else and will I have to start all over again to delete this hefty 5GB backup?
Thanks for reading
